    UTR Self-Reporting, finally!

My official UTR is a bit higher than my unverified UTR. Not complaining. Just interesting. All my casual matches are against players ranked higher than me. I have some wins. More loses. Yet my score is down. Interesting.

You are the one calling it helicopter parenting. You are the one demanding safety & supervision. If it’s done by the event it’s somehow not helicopter parenting? It’s the same damn thing. You just expect the organizers to do it and here we dont. Semantics lost in translation... very...

Which is why tennis events are not daycares and parents are expected to supervise their own kids. Now can you drop it? It’s a moot issue here.

What’s weird is that you imply they’re too old to need supervision... yet still vunerable enough to get raeped out on a court in broad daylight? You have to be trolling at this point.

That’s called a daycare if you’re asking someone else to supervise your child & take responsibility for their safety. It’s exactly why organizers of all events like this do not allow parents to just randomly drop their kids off. The organizers dont want the responsibility. So now that you...

Kids only? So no parents or family members are allowed on the site while matches are played? hahaha Parents & coaches are not allowed to watch because it is exposure to unsupervised adults. Gimme a break. I think youre still surprised because you keep ignoring this fact, I'll reiterate it...

Opponents who doesn't get the purpose of the warm-up.

I've taken this approach at tournaments and ironically never had an issue during warmup with anyone. It's the casual matches where I know the opponent personally where all the BS starts. I could show up early and get warmed up but I dont care to chase down their balls they wanna spray...

No One Cares About Your Tennis Game!

Depends if it’s genuine or gamesmanship. If they are trying to get in my head, they’re opening the door for me to treat it like a basketball game. And in that case, the trash talk is not suitable for tennis and they wont like it. If it’s a serious match the less talking the better. Like...

    Self Talk @ Big Moments

Yes, needs to be more than just being positive, but positivity is the key. Just be specific. “This ball is going in, my serve is perfect, etc.” Basically, lie to yourself. Mean it. And believe it.

Opponents who doesn't get the purpose of the warm-up.

I have a regular opponent like this. Rips a winner on every return. Wont let me get in any rhythm. It’s gotten to the point where I dont wanna play him. I cant tell if he’s doing it for gamesmanship or oblivious. But it’s something he only recently started doing once our matches were getting...

And yet that scrutiny ultimately prevents nothing. In fact, it gives teachers undue credibility in the event a claim is made. If a parent is worried about their child, supervise. No UTR event is going to allow a parent to just leave their kid unattended anyways. It aint a daycare.

That could be said for schools or any other forum in which children & adults interact. It’s just that the concept of a child getting raeped in broad daylight on a tennis court is ridiculously improbable. It’s no less likely that a kid is kidnapped while playing versus another child and a...

There are definitely merits to your culture’s way. But I dont see how avoiding youth vs adult on-court play is protecting a minor from pedo behavior.

Do you play your tournaments at the Vatican by any chance? That would definitely explain your position on this topic. You aint lying there. Incredibly litigious. I think the point your missing is that if a kid is entered into an event, it aint daycare. The organizers are not responsible for...

Who the heck needs a change room in amateur recreational tennis? And if it’s that big a deal, the parent can go in the locker room. Kids share bathrooms with adults. I think they’re safe sharing a tennis court. I feel very strongly that this has nothing to do with child predatpr risk. It has...

Are sandbaggers really just the best players at level?

At the court next to me today I could overhear the entire team discussing their tanking strategy. The tennis culture in my area is so toxic. It would make for a fascinating sociology study. There’s something about tennis that brings out the wuss in a lotta people.

Great points & articulation. Promoters of events always miss the importance of FUN FACTOR. They chase this idea of “fair” at the expense of a deeper pool of “fun”. UTR has the fun & fair figured out by eliminating the artificial fairness criteria and only focusing on what truly is fair...

Children hate losing to adults just the same. I think it’s a healthy rivalry. The only real issue and unreasonable party in this, as always in these cases, are the PARENTS. Batchit crazy is how I would explain most sports moms/dads. Rhyme & reason do not apply to their thought process.

Agreed. I don’t understand this need to split adults & kids up. There’s a lot bpth sides can learn from each other by interacting. It only benefits EVERYONES development & society as a whole. If this was a contact sport, it would be a totally different conversation. I played in chess...

That’s the point at which I go from enjoyable to mild discomfort. 112 & above and it better be a nightime match.

Adjusting to an opponent after a loss.

Agreed. Which is why I said, the ratio is more important than the delivery. The ratio is the plan. If a coach doesnt respect the ratio, they have no foundation to work from and they're going to create problems that couldve been easily avoided.

    Heat tolerance and aging

I absolutely love the heat. I cannot say there is anything I do to make myself better in the heat than most. I just naturally love sports in 90-108 degree weather. Hydration is obviously key. As is proper sodium in your diet. But good luck getting control of either of those if you're eating...

Adjusting to an opponent after a loss.

Yelling "at" players never works. Big difference between yelling and yelling at a player. Players love loud coaches generally. The enthusiasm is bonding. Players dont appreciate being abused, and that is exactly what yelling "at" someone is. But I digress... Constructive criticism is still...
