How many rec. people here open a new can of balls for every set they play?

I open a can of balls about every 2 weeks and that's playing 6-8 sets a week.

    Shapovlovovovlvovo out

This was actually a pretty good run for him in my opinion. At his age, he did pretty well against a full on grinder. He had his chances in the first set and came back from 2-5 in the second to a tiebreak. I know that coming back from 2-5 was just one break, but for an 18 year old who just lost a...

Will Shapo make Americans more interested in tennis?

Uhh, I never said I think he would win multiple slams. I'm saying that I believe the only way for him to create buzz is to win multiple slams. That does not imply that it is likely. In fact, I'm just stating how hard it would be for him to create interest for tennis in America.

Will Shapo make Americans more interested in tennis?

I know he is a Canadian, and I'm sure he's going to make tennis more popular in Canda. But I'm wondering if that's enough to create buzz about tennis in America. As an American tennis fan, I would love for this to happen. Personally, I think that he will only make an impact if he wins multiple...

    2017 USO R2 - [8] Jo Wilfried Tsonga vs [Q] Denis Shapovalov

I think it was right before he beat Nadal. Only started paying attention to him when he beat Nadal though.

    2017 USO R2 - [8] Jo Wilfried Tsonga vs [Q] Denis Shapovalov

Sorry for the dumb question but, which side of the draw is Shapo on? Is he on the same half as Nadal and Fed? Thanks

    2017 USO R2 - [8] Jo Wilfried Tsonga vs [Q] Denis Shapovalov

Truth be told, Shapo hasn't been on my radar for long. But ever since I heard about him, I jumped on his hype train right away. I think that he probably does have a lot more confidence when he plays now, which is why he plays better.

    2017 USO R2 - [8] Jo Wilfried Tsonga vs [Q] Denis Shapovalov

Agreed, his net play is amazing, his groundstrokes are great, his serve is reliable (as far as I can tell), and he's mentally tough. I mean, to beat nadal when you are 18 and when you're down 1 set? Even if nadal wasn't on his A game, it takes serious mental strength.

2017 US Open - general discussion thread

Exactly, I like the guy to an extent but he just doesn't have the "x-factor" to make me a fan.

He has the power, the touch, and the movement. That's enough finesse for me

Took a picture of this, just so that 10 years down the line, I will have proof I was a fan from the beginning. :D

Berdych will win the US Open. You heard it here first.

Right, because Murray is the reason Berdych can't win slams.

Will Fed and Nadal finally meet at the USO?

Wait, isn't the probability 0 since they are on the same half of the draw? Or is a Fedal final possible?

Who's Your Dark Horse at Flushing Meadows?

I haven't even watched him play a best of 5 match at all so my expectations aren't too high. But in a year or two, I hope he can start winning some ATP500s, (maybe even ATP1000s? or is that unreasonable :P), and to start making good runs at slams.

I'm so hyped to see how far Shapo can get in this tournament. If he can score another crazy upset, that would be a-ma-zing.
