Oh my, oh my from 5-2 to 5-4 - Konta to serve for the match again - what a way to make it easy for yourself! Can't help but feel ridiculously nervous that Kvitova will claw this back! Come on Jo!

So in the bottom half it's Svitolina vs Muchova and Halep vs Zhang - I'd go for Svitolina vs Halep but that is definitely not set in stone with these 2. It's also Zhang's 2nd GS QF and she's played a tonne of doubles recently including winning the AO with Stosur, so she's getting more accustomed...

MP gone for Konta, and Kvitova breaks... Let's see what happens now and if Konta can bounce back from having MP on her own serve. I am abroad so can't watch it live - I imagine it'll get very tense soon unless Konta breaks and wins the match now.

Trust me, I have been very impressed with her groundies the past few months. Some of the shots she hits, I see no one else replicating.

Konta is form, and apart from the odd blip she's been taking it to opponents since the beginning of the clay season. She's playing aggressively with wicked angles, lots of spin and a powerful serve - if she keeps this up she has a shot at a slam this year - I would love that if she could keep...

    2019 Wimbledon - Women's Singles - General Discussion

I just watched the last set of Konta vs Stephens, and Konta really wasn't playing any kind of magical tactics, she was simply playing fair high percentage, hitting solid serves and groundies and Stephens couldn't even hold a rally - she needs to go back to basics and if she wants any real...

Kvitova hasn't yet encounter a decent player, particularly an in form player. I reckon JoKo will put up a greater challenge than Stephens, given this match, but if Stephens was in top form then I'd probably have said she'd pose more danger for Kvitova, but here we are and it's JoKo who's got...

Stephens and Konta need to stop meeting, especially so early on tournaments. If this match continues, I see Konta being top 10 soon and Stephens dropping to the mid-20s or lower, so they'll probably have a lot more matches the next year or so. I'm so conflicted - as a Brit, obviously rooting for...

Sandgren 1 set up over Fognini - where has Sandgren come from this year? He's a step toward a 4R showing here - not bad. He beat Simon in R2 who didn't have a bad grass season.

I just want him to get himself in the latter stages of a major, and be totally fresh for if he does require a 5 setter - he's had such a consistent career, I think he deserves this chances to maximise his few opportunities.

This is typical Riske on grass - no idea if she gets some kind of relaxation from playing from behind and then coming through with a comeback win, but she seems to do it a lot. Also, what an odd year for Bencic - she's shown signs of promise and also some really random losses.

Nishikori trounces Johnson - gets the winner of Kukushkin and Struff next. Hoping that if he does play Fed, he gets there with mainly straight set wins so he's fresh and poses a legitimate threat.

Qiang takes a mammoth 2nd set tiebreak vs. Mertens. Mertens is playing like a backboard, some great point construction and defense to offence from both players. Personally rooting for Wang - will be her first R4 at a major if she can take this opportunity!

Yeah, slow down. I wish she would win RG finally after she's won Rome a fair few times. Anyway, nothing is certain in this women's draw - she could lose in the next round and no one knows how she would perform in a slam final seeing as she's never been to one. I feel like if she made a final she...

I STUMBLE WITH EVANS: Pub Crawl to an intoxicating first title

Next up for Evo is Portugal's Sousa - he'll overtake Norrie as GB #2 if he wins that one and I think he'll be ridiculously close to his career high rankings, 1 off perhaps.

He's not posted a quality result all year, which is a shame as he showed form winning Beijing last year.

Dan is rolling against Basil, but Basil was down 2 sets and a break vs Ward. Obviously Dan is playing way better than Ward, but I'm not willing to say it's a foregone conclusion just yet after the Edmund jinx. Man, I like Basil, but I think he may be the weakest member of the top 20? He's really...

    2019 Wimbledon - Gentlemen singles

Should Evans make R3, he'll be up against Cilic or Sousa - likely Cilic, I guess. A R3 appearance would be good, considering Dan's ranking, but he's been so consistent this grass season, I am hoping he can take it up a notch and beat someone he's expected to lose to. If Dan can continue his form...

I saw Zidansek and I just recall, based on results, that she seems fairly solid and up and coming in that respect. The thing with Genie is, it's all well and good fighting in R1 of a slam, but that's 4 times per year and it's difficult to rely on fight alone when you rarely win a match for momentum.

This *could* be interesting given Petra has played no warm-ups, and Ons has had a recent surge in form on grass. I'm kind of hoping Petra can work her way into this tournament to make things interesting.

I agree, I just think home slams can really drag a player's motivation up. I think 70% chance of a Kontaveit won but we will see.

I've just watched the past few games - not a tonne of rallies so far. The odd vintage moment from Venus but she's a little erratic so far. Gauff isn't very assuming - some nervous mannerisms but also she's playing fairly solidly, a tad short on groundies but getting away with it.

Kontaveit up next for Watson. Certainly a good result for Watson to get the W after 3 straight losses on grass, but then again it was over 17-year-old McNally, who is not experienced at WTA level, let alone Grand Slam. Kontaveit hasn't been in outstanding form for quite a while, so she's...

I called this before the tournament began - Osaka lost to Putintseva in Birmingham and her mindset has definitely not changed since, so why wouldn't Putintseva step up once again and handle her? I think the US Open Series will be a good opportunity for Osaka to regroup, play on her referred...

    Eastbourne men's singles semi-finals!

Had Kyle have won this event, the British media would have typically used it as a hype tool to make out he was some kind of prospect to go deep at Wimbledon. So, in that sense it's probably good he's lost now, but for his career it's not so good. He showed huge promise to make the AO SFs in 2918...
