The Road to Super Bowl 50: Field of Jeans 2/7/16

December is nearly hear Tom. I tried to tell you. All in good fun. Biggest Surprises Cincinnati - Never doubted their talent, but didn't expect them to be undefeated this far into the season. Now, if they can just stay healthy for the playoffs... Baltimore - Wow. Who saw that coming? Todd...

Rousey would kill Cyborg too if they fought. I agree that Holly Holm is the only "potential" threat in sight. And that, like you say, would be down the road and is a big if even in that scenario. Anything can happen in MMA, so Holm always has that puncher's chance, but that's pretty much it.

The Road to Super Bowl 50: Field of Jeans 2/7/16

Roger Goodell is an idiot. There's no other conclusion one can draw. He simply will not let this die. And there's no outcome here that benefits the NFL...other than accepting the ruling and just letting this go away. 1) First, this story was absurd from the time it was leaked and has been...

Why I believe Federer will NOT win the US Open

You think? I'd say you're right considering Novak himself hasn't won the Open since 2011. Doesn't seem like he's preventing anybody from winning NYC. I think there's reason to expect Federer to be better this year. In 2012 he played a lot of tennis leading into the Open thanks to the Olympics...

Why I believe Federer will NOT win the US Open

Federer won't win the U.S. Open because at age 34 he's not going to be able to weather the storm from the QFs on in a 5-set format. The courts don't play fast enough to really give him a chance to win. He can be aggressive and shorten points to a degree, but he's still going to be forced into...

Maybe there's a reason it's the best selling racquet.

Haha! Johny Mac reversed GOAT yet again on ESPN !

Not me, sir. I actually like them for the most part. They just get a little carried away with hyperbole in the moment. Everyone is the best ever every tournament. All-time GOAT is at stake every match.

Haha! Johny Mac reversed GOAT yet again on ESPN !

I agree. The ESPN commentators aren't that bad, in truth, but they are forget the past too quickly. Fed has looked as good this Wimbledon as he has in 5 years at least to me, but he's not as formidable as he was at his very best in the mid-2000s.

    Murray for the USO

I don't think so. I think people underrate Murray on those surfaces. Murray is playing every bit as good as he was when he won two majors. Djokovic has been the consensus best player since 2011. He has won a combined one title at the final two majors since that year. His improved serve should...

Haha! Johny Mac reversed GOAT yet again on ESPN !

I thought the same thing. Will he revert back if Nole wins. Especially if it's in straight sets. And, of course, should Rafa find some solutions over the next 6-8 months and rebound to win his 10th French Open, he will reclaim his McGOAT status. But, it's not just Mac. The ESPN crew gets a...

Then it must be said that that's an awful lot of weight to place on a SF win.

    Murray for the USO

Murray has played Djokovic pretty tough on the slower HC and clay this year. The summer events are faster and favor Andy. He will beat Djokovic in Cincy and NYC if they meet. Djokovic has only beat Murray in faster conditions...at the U.S. Open last year which happened to be his worst year since...

Where does Murray go from here?

The Murray/Djokovic rivalry is clearly defined by the surface they play on. On slow HC or clay, Djokovic wins. Quicker HC or grass and Murray wins. He will beat Djokovic again when they meet on a fast HC later this summer. Probably at the U.S. Open, if not earlier. Regarding Federer, Wimbledon...

Where does Murray go from here?

This. Fed played lights out...maybe the best match he's played since snapping Djokovic's win streak in 2011. I think Murray has been great this year, and I think he lost to the only man who could have beaten him at this Wimbledon. Murray will not get the credit for how good he played in this...

Roger Federer: The great survivor who doesn't know when to stop

Well said. That's dead on. I enjoy watching Nadal as well, so I'm hoping he can find some answers and get back in the mix. I've always had my doubts about him aging as gracefully as Federer, but we are about to find out I think.

    Serena Williams

I couldn't tell you, but I've wondered this same thing several different times. One could chalk it up to her natural strength and athleticism. Yet, how do you explain that Sabine Lisicki can crack serves just as hard, maybe harder, than Serena? She certainly isn't big and muscular. She doesn't...

    Serena Williams

Not making any comparisons other than I think if you gave any one of those 4 guys a weapon like her serve is on the WTA Tour, they would be comparably unbeatable.

Patrick Mouratoglou: "Azarenka is much better than Sharapova. There's no discussion."

Maybe. Who knows? Serena is a tough one for me to call with regards to mental toughness. She can be at either end of the spectrum, sometimes in the same match. Roland Garros this year was a good example. She seemed pretty shaky mentally numerous times to me, yet she had situations where it...

Gasquet just handed the championship to Novak....

Point being, it seems unlikely that Stan the Man would accomplish something that has only been done by guys who are the first names mentioned when discussing all-time Open Era GOATS. Doesn't mean he couldn't, just not likely.
  21. S

    Serena Williams

Don't know about Gasquet, but I don't think her first serve speed is on par with Andy Murray. In terms of just pure pace, he's probably got the biggest first serve of the Big 4 when he really cranks it up. I could be mistaken.
  22. S

    Serena Williams

I think that's partly because Serena is better now than she's ever been. Her serve is better and she is more committed.

Natural Gut is like trampoline. How to make a ball to stay inside?

This would be my recommendation. A full bed at at least 58-60 lbs. If you're intent on hybrids, I'd suggest hybriding with a poly...not Zyex or X.Code. In that case, I'd suggest lowering the tension back down to what you're currently using. I like the gut mains from low to mid 50s and the poly...

Roger Federer: The great survivor who doesn't know when to stop

Those Tsonga, Berdych, etc., matchups can be more tense to me, because I still expect him to win them, but I know that it's a very real possibility that he could catch them on the wrong day and get hammered off the court. Those losses aren't that bad, knowing that those guys are capable of doing...

Roger Federer: The great survivor who doesn't know when to stop

I would echo everything you said. He's so fun to watch. Especially now that he's committed to attacking more. And, on grass where the surface suits his style - so fun to watch. I particularly enjoy his encounters with guys like Murray and Djokovic. It's actually pretty relaxing to watch him...

I agree. I fully expect Murray to win the title if he gets past Fed.

Patrick Mouratoglou: "Azarenka is much better than Sharapova. There's no discussion."

I think she fights just as hard against Serena. She just has no answers in that matchup. Sharapova is a great role model for any aspiring tennis player in terms of mental toughness.

Roger Federer: The great survivor who doesn't know when to stop

I think he's playing better in 2015 than he has since winning Wimbledon and returning to #1 in 2012. 2013 was a tough year. He had a very good 2014, but I think he's more comfortable with the new, more aggressive style and is playing his best tennis of the last three years. Whether he can keep...

Roger Federer: The great survivor who doesn't know when to stop

They still do. Never understood that mindset. You hear with all kinds of great players...as if playing beyond their prime somehow diminishes what they accomplished. Makes no sense. And, once more, we find ourselves watching Federer's last great chance to win a major. Déjà vu. 2012 Wimbledon...
