    Alcaraz has peaked :(

He had one lackluster indoor season. He's 20 years old. Just accept the fact that you can draw large conclusions from small data sets.

    Alcaraz has peaked :(

Please elaborate. Kinda vague. Nadal was plagued with injury and won 22 slams. Surely Nadal's style of play is even more taxing.

    Alcaraz has peaked :(

Ok I'll bite: what patterns? He's already more accomplished than everyone on tour except for Djokovic. Barring injury he's only going to get better.

    Alcaraz has peaked :(

People just so bored with the truth, that he's young and relatively immature, that they will invent more attractive stories just to entertain themselves. This stuff could literally have been said about Nadal or many other players who became legends. Let him cook.

Why Andy Murray failed to come a ATG?

His game was plenty developed. He just ran into Fed and Novak too many times.

Federer or Sampras, who has the most beautiful forehand?

Jesus my comment from 2006 is right there. Legit OG. Press 'like' to pay your respeck.

    Restring Zero. New string release.

Careful with this string during a full moon. Can get kind of wild and hairy.

Djokovic vs Federer who is best at the YEC now?

Please no. Let us have something.

Will Nick Kyrgios come back motivated and full of ambition after his injury?!

So much salt. Nick is kind of a ****** but he's obviously very talented and a lot of fun to watch. You want the sport to grow or not? Stop negging on players who put eyes on the game.

    Old guy poly hybrid

Don't hit a single ball with dead poly. It's bad for your health. Try the setup with VS and a decent poly with good tension maintenance.

2023 Jannik Sinner vs 2006 Roger Federer at the ATP Finals

Federer was playing a badminton tournament in a neighboring venue he was under contract for in 2009. Was a charity event as I recall. Had he been 100% focused on tennis it woulda been straights.

Hot take: Djokovic in 2015 could have brought out his 2011 level at any time, but chose not to.

All of his losses were choices he made, bro. They were just pranks, bro.

Similarities between Houston 2003 and Turin 2023 ?

Regardless of ability it has the potential to be that sort of moment for Sinner. After MC 2003 Federer went god mode for 4 years. Sinner ain't gonna go god mode but he's got a good look at a slam with momentum from a title here.

    Luxilon Eco Power (2023)

This line of thinking is getting a bit out of hand.
  15. stormholloway

Finding the optimal tension: Power has nothing to do with it.

Does lower tension not also enable better ball pocketing? Feels like with the right string this can lead to better feel and spin while slightly sacrificing a more consistent response. I agree on power though. It's negligible. If you're looking for more launch with lower tension you're wasting...

2023 Jannik Sinner vs 2006 Roger Federer at the ATP Finals

He defeated the players in front of him, the best in the world at the time. That's all that matters. Just watch the matches. His level was god tier.

2023 Jannik Sinner vs 2006 Roger Federer at the ATP Finals

If this Tour Finals turns out to be his 2003 Masters Cup moment, then we can revisit this thread. Federer was untouchable on a fast court from 2003-2007. OP should feel ashamed of even thinking about posting this.

"Until now I didn't know if I would play tennis again and now, honestly, I think I will."

It would be downright shocking. Injuries are getting worse. He's even older. Two more FOs? Definitely shocking. In a good way.

    Stronger year-end top 5. 2023 vs 2005+06?

    Stronger year-end top 5. 2023 vs 2005+06?

Only? Give the man some credit. Tennis matches are easier to lose than you seem to believe. Seemed like Rublev and Rune were banging pretty hard in Paris and Novak still won. Competition always looks weak when you're that good.

Shocking truth: lead to Nadal and Federer is already mind boggling

Players don't choose their competition. He plays who's in front of him.

Is Djokovic really playing that well?

He makes it look easy and isn't too flashy. Don't be fooled. He really is playing that well.

Who declined further from his prime, Djokovic (comparing 2011 to 2023) or Federer (comparing 2006 to 2019)?

I know for a fact that Novak hired a mono-infected hobo to make out with Roger while he was sleeping in his chalet in late 2007. If anything that's a testament to Novak's willingness to do anything to win.

Who declined further from his prime, Djokovic (comparing 2011 to 2023) or Federer (comparing 2006 to 2019)?

I honestly can't make sense of any of this and don't even see what you're arguing. I didn't say anything about his "raw level". I don't even know what that is. His raw level looks pretty good to me though. I can see, with my eyes, that Djokovic is playing right now at a gigachad level...

Crazy that Spain's next great tennis hope, Alcaraz, plays more like Djokovic than Nadal!

"Looks like an exact carbon copy" is what I said. They aren't even a full grip change different from one another, unlike McEnroe and Sampras who are a full grip change away and are fundamentally completely different. And given that you can't really see this grip difference without zooming in...

Crazy that Spain's next great tennis hope, Alcaraz, plays more like Djokovic than Nadal!

I've known what grip he used. I talked about it extensively on this forum nearly 20 years ago. That's how I knew he was somewhere in between eastern and semi-western, unlike you. Seems obvious from my post what I meant and you just wanted to ackkshually the conversation for no good reason.

Crazy that Spain's next great tennis hope, Alcaraz, plays more like Djokovic than Nadal!

Ackshually I said it "looks like an exact carbon copy". "Looks like". Ain't nobody spotting an extreme eastern grip on a TV feed. And if you didn't care about being right you wouldn't have chimed in at all.
