No pusher believes they are a pusher

This is exactly my philosophy. If I can get by hitting slices and moonballs that I know I can make all day, and make progress in the rallys with those shots, why would I consider hitting more difficult/tiring topspin shots? Once someone shows me that 100% pushing won’t get me anywhere, I know I...

No pusher believes they are a pusher

Don’t let them get you down, and definitely don’t change the way you play. All this “pushers can’t make it past 3.5/4.0/4.5” is nonsense. Just keep doing you, and improving incrementally and you’ll be fine.

What could the USTA do to increase participation...

I’m in Southern California. I’m definitely not against playing on a team, USTA or WTT it just seems like the barrier to entry is figuring out when seasons start and then finding a team. Is anyone allowed to start a team, or do you need to have played before?

What could the USTA do to increase participation...

I started playing tennis a few years back. As someone who has never played any USTA tennis, every time I go on the website to consider registering, it just doesn’t seem worth it. Locally I have a really active GTN ladder, which I think is $10 a year. I’ve been able to get close to 100 matches...

    Serving against aggressive returners...

Ya that makes sense, not a serve I typically go to... Guess I’ll need to take the basket over to the court a few times this week.

    Serving against aggressive returners...

Had a league match today, lost in two tight sets. My return game was working about as usual, but I couldn’t hold serve near how I usually do. My opponent altered his return game to stand well inside the baseline for first serves, and further inside the baseline for second serves. I’m a lefty...

What tennis goals have you accomplished?

I had never played tennis at all until I was 30, and decided to buy two $20 rackets and a can of balls from Target. I got my gf to go out and hit with me at some courts across the street from our place. I played with her and my brother (neither of which had played any tennis before) for about 5...

Returning a wide slice on the ad side

As a lefty who likes to slice out wide on the ad side really consistently, I would recommend cheating significantly over to that side until he shows you that he can consistently burn you down the T. Even if he does start to burn you here and there down the T, I would still cheat over a lot of...

Best Smartwatch to play tennis in?

I wear an Apple Watch with the Swing app installed and I really like it. The app estimates how much pace/spin you are putting on the ball and can also keep track of the score and stats of the match which helps.

Best lefty serve for the deuce side?

Thanks for the feedback guys, definitely appreciate it!! Sticking with the slice and to the backhand of a righty makes sense. For some reason I’m more confident slicing out wide on the ad side, then down the T on deuce, but it could just be mental. I’ll have to keep working on it.

Best lefty serve for the deuce side?

The slice serve out wide on the ad side seems to be a clear go to for a lot of lefties, but what is generally the go-to on the deuce side? As I lefty I have found myself much more confident serving for to the ad side, but haven’t developed a lot of confidence on the deuce side. Maybe flat and...
