    New Balance Coco CG1

The CG1s are def not what I would consider a fast shoe. Not in the NB line. Maybe compared to some other tennis shoes, but I've only been an NB user since the OG Lav came out. Riding the NB shoe train for quite a few years now.

    New Balance Coco CG1

I can comment on this, as I have a few pair. Here's how I would describe them, as compared to the other NB tennis lines: 996: Fast, light, not durable. Lav: Fast, mid weight, durable. A bit warm. CGI: Sturdy, heavy, a bid wide. Durable. The CG1 is just a diff shoe. I'm not as fast in it...

New Balance Fresh Foam X CT-Rally

Agree that the color ways could use some work, but I'm loving my CTs. A great step up while remaining in line with the durability and feel that the FF Lav started. Hoping this remains the NB premier tennis shoe for many years to come.

Help With Strings After Time Away

2nd rec for Kirschbaum Pro Line Evolution. Another great option is Hyper in Mains, and Ghostwire/MSV Swift in crosses Both affordable. Kirsch being super cheap

So, what are the (common or not common) difficulties in reaching higher levels?

#1 far and away, #1 on your list. Its painfully obvious when you watch 3.5 play. Sure, guys/gals can "get to the ball". But they: 1) Fail to get there early/timely 2) Fail to get there on balance 3) Fail to get there prepared to hit a quality ball 4) Fail to move forward/backward as needed...

    MSV Swift

Agree with you on feedback and firmness. Swift has more than GW, when used as a cross with a shaped poly main.

    MSV Swift

Bumping this for others interested.... Still playing with Hyper G mains, and Swift crosses. Its lasting me approx 12 hours of play. The last hour, things get a bit bouncy, and I can tell its nearly time. But the first 10ish hours are really beautiful. Crips. Consistent. Fantastic tension...

    Crisp Poly that lasts?

Strange to see comments on Hyper G being mushy. I find it a nice tweener poly, on the crisper side. BHS7T is nice, but I got tire of inconsistent launches.

New Balance Fresh Foam X CT-Rally

Excited to see these get some more pub, reviews, etc.

String recommendations for Blade Pro V8 16x19

I would like a full bed of NRG2 or X-One strung at 50-52 would be about perfect. Maybe even down to 48? I dont have experience playing much below 48lb, so I can't comment there.

    New Balance Lav V2

The original Lav are build much more like todays 996v5. Different materials of course, but similar feel and shape. IMO. The Lav2 or LavX or whatever we want to call them, are a more cushioned shoe. More durable. Not as fast, but a dream for a hard court mover or high volume player.

    Best Poly/Poly Hybrids?

Currently testing Hyper G mains and MSV Swift crosses But yeah, that kind of mix is what you're probably looking for.

Yonex PTP goes dead too fast?

I mean, I get it. Its easier to yell "pOly StRIngS dIE! in 4 HrS!" than to have actual experience over time with a lot of various poly and poly hybrids. Head. In. Sand...

    New Balance Lav V2

Looks like the Lav2 are starting to dissappear. Very little inventory out there. Anyone in the know...are these going away? And soon? Wondering what NB will replace them with...

Yonex PTP goes dead too fast?

This is a ridiculous take on poly. Ban yourself.

Yonex PTP goes dead too fast?

Same experience. I've never understood how anyone an play with PTP. Its the fastest changing, quickest death poly I've ever played with.

    MSV Swift

Currently playing with Hyper G mains, MSV Swift crosses. Pretty nice combo. Only an hour on the bed, but more info to come. IMO its crispier than GW.

The Tale of Captain Hook - a USTA story

Yep. True story. And at least in my area, its resulting in reduced participation. Folks are tired of the shenanigans. And you'd think, with the increase in popularity of pickle ball, that the USTA would do everything in their power to protect the golden goose of League play and try to grow...

Tier One Ghostwire vs. Isospeed Cream

"Different strings will have different levels of friction against each other. It would be completely expected for different crosses paired with the same main to have differing levels of durability" ^ ^ ^ This is absolutely true. I can attest to this, and its something that (as far as I can...

Hybrid with Tourna Big Hitter Silver 7 Tour

BHS7T was inconsistent for me as a full bed. With GWire in the cross...much better. Really like this combo for a poly/poly hybrid.

    The gut/poly thread

@Redfrogger2 yeah at $32 a set, I'd keep using that Lux Gut.... Nice price.

Is the blade v8 designed to play keepaway rather than heavy ball?

Many times. Full bed of Hyper G is nice. My go to poly combo was Ghost wire crosses and a grey round poly main string, like an Alu. Currently experimenting with gut/poly, but likely near the end of that rope.

Is the blade v8 designed to play keepaway rather than heavy ball?

The Blade V8 is a beauty with guy/poly or multi/poly. I find the V8 to be wanting with even a soft poly bed.

    Wide speed/lightweight shoes

NB 996v5 run wide, even in the D width. I would imagine ordering in the wide version would give plentiful space.

Luxilon natural gut. Good, bad? Opinions?

As previously stated on this thread, the main diff in Lux Gut is the "gummier" feel. IMO, it trends much more towards the feel of a multi. Whereas VS gut has a much dryer, cleaner feel. Thats the best way I can describe it.
  28. P

    The gut/poly thread

Why is gut better suited for mains? I've tried many gut poly hybrids and have always preferred gut in the crosses. I find the string bed to have a more poly like feel, and the gut lasts longer (for me)

    The gut/poly thread

I haven't tried waxing. I suppose its something I could attempt to use. Maybe I'd gain some longevity? Its nice. Second fav set up. There honestly isn't anything thats going to be guy/Alu, but this is a very nice combo. I'd be interested in comparing it to gut/Head hawk or similar round, gray...

    The gut/poly thread

Currently have grey fire in the mains, VS in the crosses. This is after 2 hours of play. TBD on how long this lasts...
