I stopped by Fowkes' tennis complex while in Utah....

4.5 is probably the first level where cheating can be hard as all the players at that level generally have established playing records. Even Fowkes couldn't win at that level and we know his questionable practices.

The crazy part is no one thinks they're actually doing any of this but every team that wins is doing some of it.

2024 all Mixed 18+ Nationals all the same weekend?

To be fair, teams like yours are the ones they're targeting with the rules. Your "competitive advantages" is what takes the fun out of the league for the majority of players who just want to play recreationally.

Why? Aren't you always allowed to play up?

2024 all Mixed 18+ Nationals all the same weekend?

Is there any solution to the problem that doesn't make it harder on smaller leagues to put together teams? After playing in a larger district in Philadelphia, there is a valid argument that maybe the local areas in SC and GA are too small.

I laughed. For anyone that agrees with this guy, you should know that you're "agreeing" with a troll.

What to do against a sandbagger/ringer?

By your standards, I'm the alpha male here because I'm better than the people I beat and they should be thankful they get to play me. It's funny how mentally fragile tennis players can be, especially those who grew up playing the sport because it's primarily about who has the money for access...

How old are you? Imagine reliving the glory days of your mom and dad paying your tournament entry fees and private lessons on the internet.

What to do against a sandbagger/ringer?

I have to admire your ability to make this thread about how great of a junior player you were. Probably explains why you're missing the point.

Yes, it becomes the new normal. The captain that went to nationals this year is a former Fowkes player.

I stopped by Fowkes' tennis complex while in Utah....

I think it's important to recognize that your local league produced the Intermountain nationals representative the year immediately after Fowkes quit participating. That would be evidence that Fowkes wasn't the only captain with players out of level. It speaks to the idea that for a league to...

We had one that still doesn't have an updated rating by now, and he played several four 40& over matches last year so i'm not sure how it's not possible.

He went to nationals in his first season at USTA so his perspective is probably skewed. Would be better to hear from his opponents.

I stopped by Fowkes' tennis complex while in Utah....

I don’t think many teams try to go to nationals, but I think a large portion do want to win their local league. So that alone encourages them to sandbag to be competitive. And to your last point, I think even those bottom teams attempt to find out of level players. I look at my own local...

I stopped by Fowkes' tennis complex while in Utah....

The real problem with sandbagging, especially at the level of Fowkes, is that it forces the other teams in the league to sandbag just to make the leagues competitive. So it isn’t unsurprising that you would still see competitive play. If only one team was sandbagging and none of the matches...
