Federer is playing well but it's nowhere near his 2004-07 level

Fed had to improvise his game in areas he did not focus earlier in his career because he was getting outplayed everywhere since 2011. He did find a way out, but to say he is playing "best ever" is just Fed Hater fantasies. Playing third fiddle in the 2015+ era does not correlate to his best...

Federer: "I needed to get knocked down in Cincy to get my act together"

I have never taken anything he says literally in the pre-event press conferences. The man just won’t give an inch. We will only know next year how he “really” felt at USO19.

Medvedev has a very soft draw until QF compared to Djoko.

Agreed. Big 3 gets to the SF quite comfortably. Who gets drained out the most in the process is the only question.

    2019 US Open - Men's Singles - General Discussion

From rank 5-16 the only threat is Medvedev. Am I the only one who thinks he lands in Fed’s quarter who lands in Nadal’s half for the 4th straight time?

It's too hot to play tennis in NY this week

Wait, why am I laughing on this one. What if Djoko does use this before a match to deep-cool his body temperature so that he can withstand the heat for 3hrs?

All bets are on Medvdv landing in Fed / Thiem quarter.

Would Federer winning the US Open by beating Djokovic make up for Wimbledon?

A magnum opus where a 38 yr old had just <= 2% chance of winning Wimbledon after the draw and the SF played out. I consider this match as a transition from a 3 set loss to 2MP 5 set loss. There is nothing more to it.

It's too hot to play tennis in NY this week

Agreed. Wimb - USO timing is just absurd. Why not move USO to mid/end of Sept? What's so great happening in NY around that time that will impact ticket sales? This makes a perfect argument to add a grass M1000 after Wimbledon and scrap the Paris indoors M1000. Paris already has a big event.

Would Federer winning the US Open by beating Djokovic make up for Wimbledon?

Not sure if this will help. Bust lets take couple of steps back to 2015. 2 finals lost then 2016 injury. That was big scar too. It could have been the end of Fed's career. Nothing was guaranteed on 2017 return. But looked what happened. All the scars gone just like that. All the "scars" from...

    Laver: Fed is GOAT

Nice opinion sans facts. Laver never said “I like Fed to be GOAT”. That’s a fact. Also, last I checked, “rivals stepping up” is not a criteria for picking the GOAT. Personally for me, Fed has been the GOAT since 2009. He confirmed that status in 2012 and 2017. Fed is just one away from tieing...

I think you meant USO. But yea, you got the drift right. Only thing is, this very much applied to Nadal as well.

    Laver: Fed is GOAT

Tennis World USA . org LOL. No info on where the quote originated from. Pretty sure Laver does not do interviews with Tennis World USA . org In general, Express co uk and Tennis world USA sites are notorious for clickbait articles that does not reveal the original source.
