2020 Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 18x20 Official Thread

I've had tons of Six.One's and played with both thr K and BLX for many years, particularly when I was playing the most in the late 2000's. Even played with the ksix. One 95X 18x20 for a while, which I'm looking to buy used again just for fun. I found that the spec variance within models to be...

Any comparisons to Solinco Confidential? I'll need another reel soon.

Former 6.1 18x20 user trying to decide what to upgrade to

I've been trying to answer this question for years. See here: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/modern-alternative-to-wilson-six-one-95-18x20-blades-and-vcores-arent-making-the-cut.657420/ Currently loving both the Blade V8 18x20 and the 2021 Prestige Pro, which have surprisingly...

    Modern alternative to Wilson Six.One 95 18X20? Blade's and VCORE's aren't making the cut.

Since this thread keeps coming back to life, I suppose I should provide an update as well. I'm back to the Blade V7 18x20's, though I still play the Six.One 95 every now and then. I am playing 1-2x a week which seems to be enough to at least not get worse. I've found that even at lower tension...

One of my biggest issues with the RF97 when I tried it many years ago is that I was eating through strings in just 3-4 hours. I also still prefer the tighter stringbed of the 18x20's (with no loss of spin), especially as the strings wear out. Also just too heavy.

    Modern alternative to Wilson Six.One 95 18X20? Blade's and VCORE's aren't making the cut.

I went ahead and bought a Prestige Pro. The PS97 is for sale. I worked with the local shop to check the specs on the Prestige Pro versus one of my beloved Six.One 95's (which I played with today until my shoulder once again had enough after ~2 hours). Both strung with confidential 16l (without...

    Modern alternative to Wilson Six.One 95 18X20? Blade's and VCORE's aren't making the cut.

Well... I hit with the Prestige again today as well as the Pro Staff (strung with ALU Power at 52). The Pro Staff is quite interesting. With a leather grip (which I hate) and overgrip, it actually weighed in at 344g, which is exactly the same as the Prestige I've got, though it is more...

    Modern alternative to Wilson Six.One 95 18X20? Blade's and VCORE's aren't making the cut.

I think the old Pro is now the new Tour, right? The current Pro has an 18x20 string pattern (Head's product naming is painful and terrible). I just hit for a few hours with it yesterday and played a few sets today. I can't imagine there's a more predictable and control-oriented racket on the...

Solinco Confidential, but without the shape?

I just burned through my first reel of Solinco Confidential (1.25 mm) after playing Topspin Cyber Flash for the prior 15 years, so I'm in need of another reel. I really like the consistent playability of the Confidential up until it snaps. And though I wouldn't call this string particularly...

    Racket shipping boxes?

Will you sell them? Or recommend someone who does? Specifically referring to the brown cardboard boxes that new TW rackets come in. I am aware of the norm for the folks in the classifieds section around combining two priority shipping boxes. Thanks!

@DustinW I just closed the deal on a used PS97 v13. Coming freshly strung with ALU Power at ~52 lbs I believe. Should be fun. I also have in my possession a brand new 2021 Prestige Pro that I got from the local tennis shop today (they have an insanely great 3 month + unlimited rackets demo...

How to properly demo a racket?

I've done this easily 25+ times since joining this forum 15 years ago. Great way to give rackets an earnest try, but some folks just don't want to engage in second hand markets.

How to properly demo a racket?

I mostly agree with you, but there's still some value in it. I happen to live by a pretty great tennis shop these days (Swetka's) and they string their demos with high dollar poly's and you can usually select one with something close to what you normally play with, which leads to a much more...

Trying to get back into it, but I've been saying that for a decade now. I think I need to come to terms with this as the new steady state. I now more fully appreciate your situation re kids and life from back when we used to play. With all that said, I did manage to hold my own in a set...

    Modern alternative to Wilson Six.One 95 18X20? Blade's and VCORE's aren't making the cut.

Hey @DustinW! I haven't actually. I've read that some folks find it erratic. Given that I'm erratic as it is, I tend to be drawn into tighter patterns and more control oriented rackets. What are your thoughts?

    Modern alternative to Wilson Six.One 95 18X20? Blade's and VCORE's aren't making the cut.

After playing with (and preferring) the Blade's for the better part of a year here, something about their specs in combination with how I end up playing with them seems to trigger quite a bit of shoulder soreness/pain while playing. Even when I'm not serving. This is obviously because I'm more...

Why does no one ever talk about Topspin & Polyfibre? They are the softest poly.

Cyber Flash's playing characteristics change quite a bit as time goes on. The first hour is totally different than the last hour. I used to dislike it for the first 30-45 minutes (when it is the most spinny), but then it settles in quite a bit. I think the reviewer above, like many on YouTube...

Quite a bit of notching before snapping. Need to play a bit more to get some more data since, but there is significant wear before the break.

Which Topspin string? I played exclusively with Topspin Cyber Flash for over 10 years, and converted many folks over to it when I had a stringing business in college. It was really great stuff in it's day, particularly for the price.

Pure Drive 2021 breaking full poly in 2-3 hours

Hey folks, Since I'm quite a bit older, slower, and weaker than I once was, I've been playing with a 2021 PD lately. I used to play Blade 18x20's and Six.One 95 18x20's before this, in part because of string durability. I've found now that I'm breaking a full bed of 1.25mm Solinco Confidential...

    4G 1.25 vs 1.30 Test

I realize this is a half decade old post, but were tensions kept the same? I've also found difference in racket balance / swing weight between gauges can have a meaningful impact as well. Keeping all things the same except gauge is a great test, but maybe doesn't tell the whole story?
