    Babolat POP

I was an early adopter and used it for maybe 10 months fairly regularly. Early SW updates did help some early minor bugs, but I never experienced any serious defects. Certainly nothing like the In/Out is currently going through. I stopped using it because the data it provided just wasn't...

    Oakley lens tint

No, that is not what polarization means. Light is not bent. And it's not weird. It's physics.

Looking for Racket Saver Head tape recommendation

Head Protective Tape. Bought it for $8.50 on Amazon. Last time I checked, it was down to $3.95. Works just fine. Only odd thing is my Wilson racket says HEAD now, but I couldn't care less.

Is Jack Sock the new David Ferrer/Nishikori - or can he go further?

Anyone know what was said by Lopez in the post match "chat"? Was he still upset about Sock thinking he didn't apologize on the net-cord shot?

    hype about white grips

This is why white is better. The photons reflecting off the white grip will strike the ball at light speed, imparting momentum and giving you that slight edge on pace.

    Help me understand

Does Playsight calculate serve speed off the racket? I haven't looked into that so I don't know how this correlates, but the last time I played on a Playsight court and was wearing my POP (this was over a year ago so algorithms may have likely changed), my max serve speed was low 90's with...

    In/Out Device

This device was just featured on a small business report on Chicago's largest news radio station this morning. I was hollering at my wife, "Tennis Warehouse told me all about this!"

    In/Out Device

I recorded myself once. It was like a horror movie. I couldn't believe how awful I looked in the third person! Never done it since. Too scared.

    Babolat POP tennis sensor

Similar experience, but I think the reason these two types of shots are tough is: 1) There's a line somewhere between what's really a volley versus what's a groundstroke. Since everyone's motions are a bit different and follow-through can be short or long, it seems like a tough call to make...

So how does all these sensors translate into real time?

I've occasionally found myself hitting much harder and with more spin than normal to see if I can get my scores up. After all, the sensor doesn't know or care that most of my shots are now unforced errors, and all my serves are out... It just knows my speed and spin rate are up, so it thinks...

Tennis Warehouse: Babolat POP (wristband sensor) Playtest!!

The location feature behavior changed after an update a while back for me. The club I play at, a very large club with a large membership, was always searchable in the locations. Now it doesn't show up.

You only need the phone and Pop actively connected it you are recording in challenge mode. Everything else can be synced later.

I'm guessing that's not possible or very unlikely at best. I usually impart spin (I.e. on my second serves) by changing my grip to angle the face of the racket when swinging. POP wouldn't pick that up since it's attached to your wrist. It wouldn't know my grip.

    Babolat POP tennis sensor

I think I recall reading in some older post that the shots per minute are based on POPs algorithm counting only your active time as the denominator, not total session time.

    Overgrip slipping over leather grip?

Are you certain it's not the grip slipping on the handle itself?

While I don't currently have the sensor on me to give you my exact FW version, I did check for a firmware update after the fact and it was still up to date.

    Babolat POP tennis sensor

I was unable to qualify sessions this weekend as well. Probably some server side issue affecting us. I eventually lost the data trying various Android tricks with app data, so two hours of data is gone. I also had a session that missed maybe 30 minutes of recording for some reason. My overall...

Anybody tried this Chinese Tenis Sensor?

Ha. I hadn't watched the video until now. If I would have seen that on its own, I would have thought it was a parody, not real.

Anybody tried this Chinese Tenis Sensor?

After reading the poorly written product description with all of the misspellings and finding the one review that explains what portions of the design are ripped off from the other sensors on the market, I can confidently say you will get what you pay for.

Tennis Warehouse: Babolat POP (wristband sensor) Playtest!!

It's exceedingly difficult for me to get topspin shots to register for both forehand and backhand when playing, and my forehand is always a topspin stroke. My backhand stroke is probably 60% slice, the rest topspin. I would guess on average maybe 25% of my forehands and 10% of my backhands show...

Tennis Warehouse: Babolat POP (wristband sensor) Playtest!!

It has happened to me, but very rarely. My last session registered a 120 mph serve, and typically my max is around 100. Maybe it registered a particularly crazy smash as a serve, which does happen more frequently.

Babolat POP not registering Serves properly

I sometimes have the opposite issue, where my overheads are counted as serves , so I have too many. It doesn't often miss my actual serves.

With the device on and attached to your phone, go into the Babolat app's Settings menu and you will see the firmware version. Clicking on it will tell you if there an update. You won't see this if the sensor is off.
