    Good call OP!
  2. Lozo1016

Even if Med loses he is still a winner.

Among players with at least 5 OE Slam finals appearances: Medvedev 1-5 Roddick 1-4 Murray 3-8 Nastase 2-3 Lendl 8-11

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

Not sure if you got an answer already, but Safin played 20 hours, 58 minutes at the 2004 AO

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

Medvedev's the first player to go 5 sets in the QF, SF, and F of a Slam since 1980 Borg at the USO.

Medvedevs AO 2024 run is a fairytale

We're currently teetering between fairytale and horror show.

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

This is the year Jabeur wins Wimbledon. I CAN FEEL IT.

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

Medvedev has already covered the +4.5 game spread that the oddsmakers set.

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

Similar to the odds after Medvedev won the 1st set
  9. Lozo1016

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

Medvedev is still a slight betting favorite, for now. 55/45 in his favor.
  10. Lozo1016

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

Edberg dropped 7 sets there. 3 5-setters then the 4-setter vs Sampras in the final. So, very close!

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

I'm wondering how much of this performance is on Cahill. I'm thinking Sinner is a young guy who's gonna rely heavily on coaching. So when a veteran like Meddy switches up his style like this, I'm not sure Sinner has enough experience to problem solve. In his first service game of the 2nd set...

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

There's an old thread that got bumped about it https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/whats-the-most-sets-lost-during-a-slam-by-a-champion.311318/ Becker '85 Wimbledon and Kuerten '97 French Open both lost 8 sets. I'm not sure if anyone has topped that in the last 15 years tho...

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

Was thinking the 2015 RG Final, tho Stan was playing very well going into that match also. And Novak got taken 5 by Murray in the SF. But Novak was certainly the heavy favorite and it looked inevitable.

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

How much is it in Medvedev's head that he was in this exact situation 2 years ago. Up 2 sets to love in the AO Final, before losing the next 3 sets.
  15. Lozo1016

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

Hard to believe this is the guy who lost more points than he won against Zverev and Hurkacz. Or the guy who let Ruusuvuori go up 2 sets to love on him. Or the guy who dropped sets to Terence Atmane and Nuno Borges.

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

That's a strong stat for him. I was wondering what that 1 must've been and then I was like, "Oh, Nadal. Of course."

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

I was thinking, "feels like I just saw this GIF." lol
  18. Lozo1016

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

Medvedev is now a slight live betting favorite. Close to 50/50 after that first set.

Australian Open F: Jannik Sinner vs. Daniil Medvedev

Rublev had 8, Khachanov had 10, Baez had 4 and Van De Zandschulp had 6. Only Khachanov and BVDZ were able to get a break though. 1 each.

Is Medvedev already the best male Russian tennis player of all time?

Meddy might be able to take the crown if he can win the AO final today.
  22. Lozo1016

Can Med really afford to go down 1-5 in slam finals?

Of the 23 players who have been to 5 or more Slam finals in the Open Era, Medvedev's tied for last in slam final winning percentage (20%) with Andy Roddick. If he loses, he'll hold that distinction all by himself. https://www.ultimatetennisstatistics.com/record?recordId=GrandSlamFinalLosingPct

2024 AO Women Final : (2) Aryna Sabalenka vs (13) Qinwen Zheng

It's amazing to think Sabalenka's last match before AO was getting dismantled by Rybakina 6-0, 6-3 in Brisbane.

2024 AO Women Final : (2) Aryna Sabalenka vs (13) Qinwen Zheng

Fowler said Zheng would love to get a look at some 2nd serves...Sabalenka's only serving 56% 1st serves in so far.

Is Alexander Zverev The Greatest (Open Era) Player Without A Slam?

Zverev and Berdych stand alone among slamless players with 7 Major SF appearances.
  26. Lozo1016

Australian Open SF: Daniil Medvedev vs. Alexander Zverev

Medvedev hasn't served below 50% on 1st serves since his 2022 Cincy match with Tsitsipas. IDK what's wrong with Meddy's serves today.
  27. Lozo1016

Australian Open SF: Daniil Medvedev vs. Alexander Zverev

The betting odds have shifted in Zverev's direction, a bit. Meddy is still the favorite, but Zverev's odds have gotten shorter. I'm still taking Medvedev in 5 tho.

Golden Opportunity If You Like Sinner. Wager $100 To Win $175!

I should've just bet Sinner outright! Usually for odds like this, I bet on the game spread instead. I thought Gauff would beat Sabalenka, but I bet Gauff +3.5 games. Sabalenka ended up winning, but Gauff was able to win my bet for me.
