Need advice how to communicate new people claiming to be 5.0

Entirely possible! We are a team based out of Locust Grove (but really from Macon) with some guys from Middle Georgia State, if that rings any bells.

Need advice how to communicate new people claiming to be 5.0

You are super lucky! Tennis in GA was cheap, easy, and plentiful. I'll never let my family and friends forget what I gave up when I moved back home to New England. :-D

Need advice how to communicate new people claiming to be 5.0

I'm not the OP but I just moved to a new city (Boston) after spending 2021 playing on a 5.0/5.5 team in Atlanta. Finding great players in Georgia was easy because 1) I had some tennis contacts already, and 2) the area is saturated with tennis fanatics at all levels. Now that I'm plopped in a new...

Any tennis obsessives in Boston/Greater Boston?

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! Appreciate it. Keep them coming if possible. Definitely looking to play through the winter, so thinking I might have to join a local club or get in with an established group. (I've heard about a group of 5.0s who play at the Harvard courts.) I was on a very...

Any tennis obsessives in Boston/Greater Boston?

Hey TTers, I just moved back home to the Boston area from GA and I'm looking to get plugged into the tennis scene here. I've got an old 4.5 USTA rating but spent the past year playing open-level ALTA league tennis (we won the city championship a few weeks ago!). Even though I'm from the area...

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

The heavier one of mine (310g) does swing a bit heavier than the one that's 307g, just from shadow swinging. Worst case scenario I figure I'll ship the heavier one back to Wilson or trade it to one of you guys who might have a lighter one.

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

My 2xBP 16X19 just came in: 310g on one, 312.8g on the other, with the plastic. I can try to figure out the balance, but I can say that the heavier one feels...substantial.

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

Thanks for the review! I have rather "drivey," as opposed to brushy, strokes so I'm pretty hopeful after reading your thoughts. Mine arrive today and I should be able to get out on court early next week. FWIW, it always takes me a *while* to dial in a new frame during match play, so maybe you...

Awesome. I'll print it out for my stringer so we can't mess it up.

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

Since some folks have communicated with Wilson, has anyone asked them for specific stringing instructions? ETA: I sent them an email via their website. Will report back if/when they answer.

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

Awesome, thanks for the data! I'll be putting a 1.25 gauge string in mine, so hoping for a low-mid 330s SW, which would be perfect with a Blade-like weight/balance.

Great picture. Does the BP feel like a beast to swing? Too hard to tell yet?

    Wilson Pro Stock Line

Perfect--the Blade specs work well for my game and I'm not really an at-home customizer. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting something totally bare bones!

    Wilson Pro Stock Line

Makes sense! So kind of like a Blade-ish weight/balance, suggesting a more than healthy enough SW. I feel better about these now.

    Wilson Pro Stock Line

Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting one of the Blade Pros/H22s but this from Wilson made me nervous: "...this racket features a light stock weight that enables users to easily customize and add weight for more power, if desired." Do people think these will be playable at stock weight? Or is...

Barricade 2018 Boost vs. KSwiss Ultrashot 2

Hi TW, This question is for any/all playtesters who have experience with both of the shoes in the thread title. I'm currently on my last pair of 2018 Barricade Boosts and will need to get new shoes soon. There's no direct replacement from Adidas so I'm looking to switch to something that might...

Thank you so much, Tiffani! This is a big help.

Pure Drive + currently in stock Bumper guards?

Hey TW, Are you able to follow up on this question? I'm also interested in getting some "normal" bumper guards for my Pure Drive Plus racquets without the indentations, but when I called the store just now one of your representatives said that Babolat hasn't changed the bumpers on these...

    Yonex Vcore Pro 97

Hi Sean, We have similar tastes in racquets: I'm currently playing with the Youtek Prestige MP but I'm trying to switch away to something more forgiving, with a bigger sweetspot and a little more free power. Just looking something a bit more user-friendly after an injury. Would you say that...

Any 5.0 Players Switch From Players Frame to Babolat and Get Even Better?

Can this thread be a support group? :D I played national juniors back in the mid-90s and have never really gelled with many modern racquets. But I'm coming back from a back injury and my beloved Prestiges are just a bit too demanding out there. I might try out the new Pure Drive Tour Plus as...

Babolat Pure Strike Too Powerful? ...the king of BOING!?

Hi! What you describe is similar to what I've experienced with Babolat racquets. I've tried *so* hard to like them, but the springy stringbed seems to want spinnier strokes than I naturally have. I am much more confident with a stiffer, "deader," more traditional-feeling stringbed. If I had a...

Question for Granville and Chris re: equipment post injury

Thanks so much, Chris! It can be tough to find a new racquet when many of the modern sticks don't feel quite right and yet a Prestige or 6.1 is no longer a realistic option...!

Question for Granville and Chris re: equipment post injury

Hi again, Chris. Could I revisit my earlier question with you? I demoed the PDT and want to think about a few more options before deciding. I'm realizing that I'm sensitive to weight distribution in racquets. Lots of modern racquets like the Head Graphene and the Pure Aero have weight at the...

    Yonex VCORE SV

Hey guys, I'm thinking about trying out an SV98+. The specs look great for me, and I get along well with extended racquets. But here's what I'm wondering: is this racquet polarized, with weight at the very tip (like a Pure Aero or other racquets for spin-oriented games)? I'm coming from a Blade...

Question for Granville and Chris re: equipment post injury

Thanks to the OP for starting this thread, and to Chris for your thoughts! Chris, I'm returning right now from an injury and, like you and Gran, I've decided to look to a longer, more powerful racquet so that I won't have to work as hard on court. My current racquet is the 2015 Blade 98 18x20...

Babolat Pure Aero VS Tour review

I've always been interested in this racquet, since I like more closed string patterns. Are you able to tell whether it's polarized (weight at the tip and in the handle) or not? Thanks!

    Airplane carry on

I wanted to update this just in case anyone out there searches for info in the future: Australia does not let you bring a backpack with racquet handles sticking out onto flights. I was fine coming to Australia from the US, but going back to the States from Aus was a problem. Hope this helps...

    Airplane carry on

If it helps, I have taken a Babolat backpack (an old Aero one that fits a ton of stuff without getting too big) on domestic and international flights with two racquet handles sticking out and no one's ever said anything. I put it in the overhead bin and forget about it. I'm not sure if I'd try...
