Nike Zoom GP Turbo official thread.

Dang. Thought I was a hoarder with my 7 pairs.

    Asics Court FF3

I dunno. I'm 9.5 in the Speed FF2, 9.5 in the GelRes 8/9. But 9.5 in the FF3 didn't work, and I was wearing thorlos (thick socks).

NO wide toe box tennis shoes!

FF3s seem to fit way more wide in the toe box for me compared to the GR9s.

    Asics Court FF3

Really wanted to like these! :-( The fit is too loose for me - might have to try sizing half size smaller. I was not confident in these even after cinching the laces as tight as I could.

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

All EZONE 98s, the DR100 and current EZ100. The Percept 100D. Outside of Yonex, the latest gen Pure Aero and maybe the second generation Speed MP and Graphene Radicals, Blade v7. I even hit with the P17 PS a tad for this review. The heaviest SW of the EZONEs was 323 or so - the Ai/DR generations.

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

Looks like I'm a lone wolf when it comes to poor stability and low spin production! I'm reading that other 98 playtesters really like the stability and spin they're getting! *shrugs*

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

When I went from 45 to 50 lbs in my playtest, I was immediately self-conscious with how loud the sounds were! Glad you called out the sound as something to consider... not that it would sway my feelings one way or another as long as the groundies were good.

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

Feels better than what I remember of the gen 3, less metallic. The flax fibers help like they do in the Pure Aero line. But I'm a player that wants one response from the stringbed regardless of where it hits (aka I don't want to feel any drastic difference between the sweet spot or the edges)...

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

I've heard 'creaking' before in my own string jobs. I usually attribute it to the friction of the strings between the grommets or other contact points.

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

Mine didn't squeak when I strung it up initially - but I also strung it at 45 lbs (3 below their recommended min of 48). Am going to restring at 50 lbs next.

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

Got mine! Strung it up w/ Tecnifibre Razor Code 1.20mm at 45 lbs, same setup I'd use for my EZONE 98. Initial, pre-hit thoughts: *Had a hard time figuring out which holes were tie-offs *There's not much clearance in the grommets (it might be that whole lock booster system) *Definitely more...

Razor Code at low tension anyone?

I feel like it requires a slight break-in for me. Normally I'm good with other strings off the stringer and onto the court. With this, it needs an hour of hitting. I mainly like the tension maintenance on it.

Razor Code at low tension anyone?

I use it at 45 lbs in my EZONE 98. I liked it enough to get a reel.

New Balance Fresh Foam X CT-Rally

I am curious about the new Speed FF3. I surprisingly liked the Speed FF2 - thought the cushioning was fantastic for its lightweight, speed orientated classification.

New Balance Fresh Foam X CT-Rally

I feel like my ankle will break before the collar breaks in. I've had the 996 v3 that exhibited the same ankle-biting issue of the collar. I don't want to go through the pain.

New Balance Fresh Foam X CT-Rally

...AAAAAAND I'm done. Selling these. The collar really digs into my ankle bone. The cushioning is good enough, the tongue is super plush. Lacing system has just the right amount of friction to keep laces in place. The knit upper gives enough but has plenty of support. The outsole is quite...

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

I'm avoiding reviews. I'm only looking at specs and the marketing claims. Definitely needed to look at specs before I deleted the 98 or 100. I wanted the 98 to compare to my current EZONE 98.

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

Check your emails, folks! I was selected for the 98. I'm excited 'cause I really liked the 2nd gen version and hope this 4th gen returns to that feel with the flax fibers.

Did you find the uppers opened up more after a break-in period? They're just a taaaad tight for my liking. I hear the foam takes a break-in period to get soft. Footbed seems rock hard out of the box. But I'm committed to my sale pair... no turning back now.

    NikeCourt Zoom GP Challenge 1

Well, OK. The GPC is more breathable. I didn't perceive any differences in traction.

    NikeCourt Zoom GP Challenge 1

I think the TPU is just too good at doing its job of containment. My foot doesn't slide in the shoe, but the forces put upon the lateral TPU cage is too uncomfortable for me. There's a very sharp contrast between that TPU cage and fabric-based containment (of the GPT) that has a more give...

    NikeCourt Zoom GP Challenge 1

I agree. I played in the GP Challenges last night. My feet didn't hurt and I had enough cushioning. I didn't notice the shoe much until lateral movements when my foot slammed into the cage unit. Not comfortable. I still enough backups of the GP Turbos that I don't want to transition to the...

    NikeCourt Zoom GP Challenge 1

I played 90 minutes in the NXTs when they first came out. Didn't keep them. The heel was so stiff and the Zoom cushion felt like there was nothing there. I'll play in the GP Challenges tonight, but will bring a pair of GPTs for backup.

    NikeCourt Zoom GP Challenge 1

Agree that cushioning isn't a wow for this one. I'm still hopeful. I'm now breaking in a half-size up for my playtest (got both 9.5 and 10 directly from Nike). I hope the half size up and thorlos will be fine. Also hopeful that the half size up will address the TPU lateral support issue...

    NikeCourt Zoom GP Challenge 1

Yeah, it’s not. The original Vapor Pros were wider. I might just need fabric based lateral support. TPU and other plastic overlays are too rough for me. That being said, now I’m eyeing the new Eclipsion 5s… hoping they fit wider.
  29. XFactorer

    NikeCourt Zoom GP Challenge 1

I’m starting to think it compares to the eclipsion 4. Toe box is wide enough until the mid foot when you run into that TPU containment piece. That killed my left foot last night. The Eclipsions killed my right foot. I’m going to play around with lacing and casual wear around the house today.

    NikeCourt Zoom GP Challenge 1

Initial try on and thoughts right from the box... *Initial step in bounce is not there or not as present as new GP Turbos *Uppers fit my foot a little better (even without the extra lace hole for the heel lock down) *True to size for me *Lateral cage/containment plastic is soft and flexible...
