Who played at a higher level? Federer in his 30s or Djokovic in his 30s?

I'd make a distinction between post-35 and post-30. Post-30, I'd slightly favor AO 2019 Novak over 2012 W Federer, but I could see a tie as well due to the stronger competition faced by Fed. Post-35 I haven't seen anything remotely close to Fed's W 2017 and W 2019 runs from Novak.

    Nadal vs. Sampras

Awarding Sampras extra hypothetical AO titles is an untestable scenario, and so not valid. Also, Nadal playing the AO 7 more times is a testament of his superior longevity and, subsequently, a stat that helps cementing his case, rather than something bad. You're penalizing Nadal for having a...

    Nadal vs. Sampras

Titles won in their 30s do not count? Sampras won his last Slam aged 30 and retired aged 31. Ken Rosewall won his last Major aged 37 and retired aged 43. Andre Agassi (a contemporary of Sampras) won his last Slam aged 32 and retired aged 36 (5 years older than Sampras when he retired). Only...

    Nadal vs. Sampras

Aren't you a proponent of the thesis that extra Slam finals add a lot to the resume? Nadal has 6 AO finals. Sampras only 2. That is to say, Nadal has thrice as many AO finals than Sampras, 4 more. 4 extra finals is a monstruosity of a difference. I wouldn't place Nadal over Sampras at the AO...

I wonder if RG again will draw Rafa-Djokovic in same half in the earliest possible round

Since 2021, they've always been on the same side of the draw. That's 2 years in a row (2021, 2022). I wouldn't rule out the possibility of them being placed in opposite sides of the draw.

    Most Over and Under Achieved

Mats Wilander is an undisputed ATG with his 7 Slams and one of the greatest and most talented players of the 1980s. He also won  multiple Slams on all surfaces in an era where difference in conditions were more noticieable, proving to be extremely versatile. Not to mention, he was also #1...

Djokovic will play in Geneva 1 week before RG

I don't think a guy with 14 RG and a perfect 14 out of 14 in RG finals is gonna get seen as a loser. Djokovic will be perceived as the undisputable GOAT by future generations and Nadal as the undisputable King of clay and the most dominant player ever on a surface. That's far from a loser, his...

Alcaraz vs Roddick. Who is greater on grass?

Please, don't disrespect me by calling me mocking names like "cute". I simply stated my opinion on the issue, as in my view Grand Slam titles always prevail over Grand Slam finals. No need to disrespect me only because you disagree with me on the topic of discussion.

Alcaraz vs Roddick. Who is greater on grass?

Alcaraz, not even close. 1 Wimbledon title won against Novak > 0 Wimbledon titles. And Alcaraz may win more as he's too young.

Novak's clay record before RG: 2023 vs 2024

Novak titles in 2023 before RG: the AO. Novak titles in 2024 before RG: 0. Huge difference. Plus, Rafa didn't even participate at RG 2023. Completely different scenario from 2024.

So he loses to the #29 of the world in straight sets but is suddenly gonna beat in straight sets a Nadal who lost to the #9 in the world. Makes sense.

Are you kidding? The Novak I saw today was using a wheelchair and hitting with the strength of a nanny. Nadal is also super old and non-convincing. It would be great paralympic encounter.

Slam finals can be used as a "tie-break" metric if two players are tied in Slam titles. But not when one has more Slams than the other. 1 Wimbledon title > X amount of Wimbledon finals. Now, if Roddick had won a Wimbledon title, I'd see the logic behind your argument. 3 extra Wimbledon titles...

It is unobjective to completely ignore the subjective

I only read that argument from Federer fans. In Maestronians' terminology: "Eye test" = Federer is the best to ever pick up a racket, hypothetical peak Federer is unbeatable, Federer became old when he turned 26.

Rafael Nadal says his trajectory is looking positive, ahead of Rome:

What? He was the most dominant force ever on a surface, and now he's not as dominant due to his age and physical state, which makes his matches on clay less predictable (aka he's not a de facto winner for most matches as in the past). Rafa was never so dominant on grass or hard, making his...
