    The Indian Wells 2023 Thread

Thanks - looked these up online (didn't realize it was a brand) and they are aluminum so looks like we're good w/our Contigo alumnimum bottles. Good to hear they aren't disallowing small snacks! Thanks for the feedback.

    The Indian Wells 2023 Thread

Finally back, been three years since we've been to IW/Paribas. Wondering how strictly the food policy is enforced...small (single-serving) bag of chips gonna sneak through in backpack? Can I have some hard candy in my pockets? They aren't strip-searching or putting you through one of those...

Official 2015 BNP Paribas / Indian Wells Thread - Who's Going?

In my experience the age of the crowd increases as the tournament progresses...partly due to fewer courts and increasing cost to get a decent seat, and partly due to there just being a lot of older tennis fans from tennis' heyday in the 70's/80's, who have time (retired or have more vacation) to...

If that holds up, that would be great. Filling more of those seats would be a good thing!

Official 2015 BNP Paribas / Indian Wells Thread - Who's Going?

I'm another who was very disappointed to find that the level 2 seating in the south end of Stadium 2 is now reserved seating. I also heard this from both users in Stadium 2 and from other attendees we met while there. Last level 2 south end was an exciting place to sit - packed to the gills...

Official 2015 BNP Paribas / Indian Wells Thread - Who's Going?

Yeah, $10 parking is gone, gone, gone. :( Well we're back, and the biking thing didn't happen. We didn't want to haul them up there if we weren't going to use them, and weren't able to scope things out before we left as well as we needed to. The good news is that at the east gate, the...

Official 2015 BNP Paribas / Indian Wells Thread - Who's Going?

We're going again, and thought this year it would be fun/different to integrate our bikes into the process. Anyone know if there is parking in neighborhoods just to the east of the tennis garden? Thinking about parking in neighborhoods 1-2 miles east of the garden south or north of Miles...

Blast from the past-Yonex RD Power 10 Long, wrong weight

Thanks for the comparison. I was surprised that the Power 10 didn't feel more stiff, given the 68 stiffness rating that showed in TW specs, but if you're saying the USL version was more flexy that matches up with what I experienced w/my Power 10.

Blast from the past-Yonex RD Power 10 Long, wrong weight

Ah, great, thanks very much for that information, I didn't come across that in my searches. I must have a USL, and mine is grip size 3 [4 3/8] so that fits. I'm comparing it to a RD Ti 80 light (also about 11.5 strung), and am so far leaning towards the Power 10, but haven't hit w/any...

Blast from the past-Yonex RD Power 10 Long, wrong weight

Just picked an RD Power 10 Long mid plus (95) from the Yonex tent sale this week. I was so surprised to see it that I bought it. :) Has a sticker on it that indicates it was strung once at Sports Authority in late 1991! I wasn't aware the RD Power 10 long was available that long ago. It...

Yet another "I'm going to the US Open!!" thread

Funny how you can have a bag, but not a backpack...if I carry my backpack in my hands is it a bag? :) Thanks for the heads-up.

Yet another "I'm going to the US Open!!" thread

Thanks! We're going to be at the tournament for three days, probably, the remainder of the time touristing around (our first time in NY). We're trying to figure out which days to go to the tournament...we weren't planning on buying tickets to AA, don't like the giant stadiums. Thinking about...

Yet another "I'm going to the US Open!!" thread

Got the flights booked, just need to find a place to stay that won't cost more than my sons' college tuition. :) Likely going to use Airbnb for housing, and plan on staying in Manhattan and taking the subway over to get to tennis. Planning on grounds pass for the most part, unless...

    French Open Tickets

For some already existing info/advice, use the Search feature here to search on French Open and take a look at my posts about getting tickets for last year's F.O. We used the official F.O. reseller site (http://www.viagogo.fr/rolandgarros) and it worked very well for getting stadium tix. You...

    Yonex 110% Loyalty Tour

I'd like to pick up an extra RDX 500 Mid...If anyone has one and is interested in cleaning out their closet, I'm listening (PM me). :) Wish Yonex would release a 90 similar in feel to the RDX Mid series...found the 89T too stiff for my tastes.

Thanks, Korso and Januslow...I keep hearing really good things about the PB10 Mid, so had to try it. Waiting for it to arrive from TW. Threw in the QTour just because it sounded interesting, and I think I added a Prince as well for the sake of getting three for the $10 demo fee. :)...

Returning to the sport after 15yrs.....

Same as you as well, some years ago, out of tennis for a long time and came back. Start slow, don't get out and hit too much too soon, your body is NOT the same one you had 15 years ago (though I'm sure you've noticed that.) :) Consider the Dunlop 300 series (98 sq inch), I believe they...

Yonex Vcore Tour 89 and 97 specs

Made my decision...not going to the 89T. Just not comfortable w/the additional stiffness, that's really my only complaint. I will miss the additional easy power provided by the 89T, especially on serves, over my RDX Mids. Got the QTour and PB10Mid coming in to try next, but thinking more...

Cool. Still use my stringer regularly and love it. This type of thread, not so much...just too many uncontrolled variables for this to have any significant value, IMHO. But rock on for those who enjoy it... :)

Which racquet did you dream of owning when you were growing up and .....

Starting from the early 70's, the racquets that I lusted for in my youth were: - Dunlop Maxply...just the prettiest racquet every made, IMHO. - T2000 (Connors) - Bought and used one for a year or so. Amazingly hit a great one-handed BH w/the T2000. Not sure how, exactly... :) Control...
