How Would You Handle This Situation

I agree with all of this.

Was Sinner ever really a good player?

I'm always amused by people who think they can judge mental toughness. As if we can see into their minds. Doesn't fighting back from a 2 sets to 0 deficit to win your first major count towards mental toughness?

    Wilson Shift 300 16x20

3.5 here and I love it. I've received so many compliments on my inside-out forehand since switching. I have such confidence to hit a big top spin cross course, especially from that side. I also love a short ball on the deuce side and feel so comfortable hitting a huge put-away shot at a crazy...

    Tourna Tuff XL overgrip PLAYTEST!!

Glad you brought this back up. I did the original play test. Back then I found they didn’t last noticeably longer than regular TournaGrips (which is all I use). However over the winter (Florida winter) I tried again and they last much longer. So my updated takeaway is they do last longer...

Was Vekic's shot at 8 all in the breaker against Paolini today wide?

Oftentimes they do. Just may not have had time between shots.

Serve receivers who overrule their partners who call baseline serves out

Agree. This happened to me just this weekend. Returning serve on the Ad side; my partner called a serve out, and I could tell by the bounce that it clipped the line. Checked the mark and sure enough it hit the back of the line. Point theirs. Agree you should let the partner make those calls...

    2024 Wimbledon - Women's Discussion

Fun fact: Aryna, Coco, and Iga actually have the exact same life time record at Wimbledon. They've each played the tournament five times. They are each 11-5. So for all the belief that Coco and Aryna are way better than Iga on grass ... the data shows otherwise.

    2024 Wimbledon - Women's Discussion

    a) Interesting that 2 of the 3 most intriguing didnt happen since Azarenka and Alexandrova WD. b) But Kenin upset Coco R1 last year, iirc. She can win any given day. Is a Iga fan, Im a bit worried.

Contest : Who is going to post the picture of the most amazing/exotic tennis court ?!

Where is that @vokazu that so many people have their own courts?

Is a ball machine really so bad for practice?

The key to a ball machine is moving your feet. Like you can set it at a high frequency and you just swing away, swing away. OR, set it longer than you need, hit a shot, run to one side line, and run back, as the next ball comes. This way you have to THINK about your footwork.

    Opinions on Open-Stanced One-Handed Backhand

When my footwork get lazy and I hit an open stance backhand, I tend to hit the ball out to the right. Without the right foot getting in line, it's easy for your arm to go too far across your body and lead the ball out to the right. Whereas if you're feet are closed, that literally can't happen...

    Ft Lauderdale - Late August

The obvious answer is Jimmy Evert tennis center, the clay courts where Chrissie learned to play, in Holiday Park in Ft Lauderdale. I also have a group that plays Sat & Sun mornings, @travlerajm from this board has joined us before, in Cooper City. You're welcome to join us. Depending on where...

Chair ump possibly changed the trajectory of the final with a bad line call.

I was giving a series of facts. I think the rationale is more complex. Plus I'm sure there is politics & lobbying when it comes to bit contracts. But as the video shows, ALL electronic line systems call balls IN that clay marks show OUT. The reason is that clay 'marks' are compression marks...

Chair ump possibly changed the trajectory of the final with a bad line call.

FoxTenn is way more accurate. And the answer, I suspect is cost. Hawkeye shows where the computer THINKS the ball will land. Which is why what we see is an animation, not a super slow motion replay. FoxTenn uses more cameras mounted around the court and shows the actual replay and the actual...

Discovery, TNT to broadcast RG from 2025 on wards for $65 million

It's also pretty expensive to host an event. But yes, federations run events for profits and to fund the whole organization throughout the year.

Chair ump possibly changed the trajectory of the final with a bad line call.

Carlos won by 2 breaks. Plus the reason Hawkeye is not used on clay is that we KNOW -- comparing Hawkeye to ballmarks -- that it's imperfect. You really need FoxTenn on clay.

    2024 Roland-Garros final; Swiatek v. Paolini

No one I did watch. But I mainly go by results and results-wise Coco has better hard court results than Sabalenka and Rybakina.

    2024 Roland-Garros final; Swiatek v. Paolini

Coco has an RG singles final and won RG doubles.

    2024 Roland-Garros final; Swiatek v. Paolini

She had a higher grass court winning % than Coco, Aryna or Elena last year at 7-1. And she won junior Wimbledon.

    2024 Roland-Garros final; Swiatek v. Paolini

She’s won slams at more venues than any of the “next 3”, Coco, Aryna and Elena.

    2024 Roland-Garros final; Swiatek v. Paolini

It’s that good. Her tiny steps so her feet are perfectly aligned at contact are art. Anyone who finds Iga’s 2&1 wins boring just needs to watch her feet and be entertained.

    Roland Garros 2024 Ladies SF - [1] Swiatek v [3] Gauff

Mental strength isn’t not crying. It’s what you do afterward: Coco broke. Her only break of Iga in the match.

    Roland Garros 2024 Ladies SF - [1] Swiatek v [3] Gauff

I just provide facts instead of everyone else’s non-fact based speculation. Serve speed is important. Positioning is equally vital and Iga’s positioning is very good.

    Roland Garros 2024 Ladies SF - [1] Swiatek v [3] Gauff

And yet Iga has the highest hold % on tour. Naomi is 3rd. Iga is 2nd in return games won; Naomi is 133rd.

    Roland Garros 2024 Ladies SF - [1] Swiatek v [3] Gauff

She currently 1.44 times as many points as #2. That’s a huge gap. The gap between #1 Iga and #2 Sabalenka is larger than from #2 Sabalenka to #5 Pegula.

    Roland Garros 2024 Ladies SF - [1] Swiatek v [3] Gauff

And Iga bageled Naomi last time they played on hard court...in a final!

    Roland Garros 2024 Ladies SF - [1] Swiatek v [3] Gauff

And yet Iga had a 80% winning % on all 3 surfaces last year. No one else did that on even two surfaces. There is no Big 3 in the WTA as some claim There is a Top 1, by far, and a “Next 3” with Coco, Aryna, and Elena.

To be fair. That’s everyone’s weakness. apologies if I missed the sarcasm.
