How is the manoeuvrability of the Tour 100? My partner currently likes using the 95 but think she would benefit from a 100 at this stage with a little bit less weight

Prince Phantom 97P Review / Discussion

Hey, glad you're enjoying the 97P, I am loving it as well again after coming back from injury. It is so soft and has so much feel. I too find it best with stiff strings, it gives the control to the power on the frame. vanquish has good feedback as well? My frame is around 355 grams and I would...

Chair ump possibly changed the trajectory of the final with a bad line call.

This was posted in another thread for Hawkeye error on clay, hard to tell but it looks like it doesn't touch? The call made in the final seemed closer

Polys that maintain a consistent stringbed for a long time?

I like the playability of a BBO (mains) and Alu power (cross) hybrid. It loosens up and gets softer like BBO if you hit hard. I use it in my phantom 97P and it has ample power and stays very predictable.

Agree, the head felt clunky but the throat was nice. I sold it quickly but the layup was good -very solid and low vibrations with really nice feel on contact.

Good to see you back! Since the first 93P released I have been mainly loyal to prince and with good reason. Every time I tried a different brand I always came back for the grip shape as @Fed Kennedy pointed out and also the feel. I am wondering whether any additions are scheduled for the...

Same as 97P, with a stiffer throat and more head flex it would be amazing. Still using it now

There was also a short which noted that the 100x 18x20 playtest has finished and to expect the review soon. Wondering if the zylon in the throat allowed them to drop the twist weight slightly on the 100" frames. Waiting for TWU numbers to come up for these frames .. Pity about the 97P, I still...

    Prince Phantoms time frame?

Following up from the sneak peek with Chris, just confirming a timeframe for the new Phantoms to be launched? Is there any further information at this stage? 100P has been shown elsewhere and the 100x with Chris, do we have any exciting changes or additions after the likely axing of the 97P?

The prince beast 100 max is the Ripstick* The website says release late April 2022 in Japan and it was released in the west in early 2021. You can even see that they reference the new larger ports for the first time on that exact webpage you linked. Same happened with the Synergy, under a...

Innovations only in Asia? They don't even have the same phantom range in Japan and they are sold at premiums on their auction sites when imported. Their phantom range is severely limited and they have also brought the Synergy across from the US. The Ripstick and Vortex are US only as well, and...

Prince Phantom 97P Review / Discussion

Glad it works for you. everyone has different strokes and given the issues you have with the 97P I can see why you like it. The 97G is a very stable racquet and manoeuvrable in my experience due to lowish swingweight. It is why I felt it was similarish to the RF but a bit easier to swing - very...

Yes, I can't see it being that much different though, it was still the same mould. I think if it was 20mm straight it would have been better. The paint job though was the best, glossy is unbeatable.

The Japanese 315gram 97G was like a club in my experience, thicker beam and very much played like the red and black RF.

    Prince Official - Racquets

Yes I can see your argument, in stock form 97P is quite low in sw so it's really not that great for me either. I also felt 93P was a bit light on swingweight as is nearly every other frame on the market for me. I usually play around 340-345sw. I feel that manufacturers have been adding weight...

    Prince Official - Racquets

What didn't you like about the 97? I'm loving it with BBO / Alu at around 38lbs and about 6 grams of lead at 12. Feel and control is so nice with a heap of spin. Ohbh is sublime. Now if only I didn't just do a calf injury after my wrist is finally healing...

PSA - cut out your poly before it goes dead, then you don’t have to blame your racquet or string for injuries!

Notched strings don't move on contact as much, this causes a stiffer response from the string bed in my experience and the way in which the ball comes off. The elasticity doesn't really change all that much from my understanding and looking at twu data. Flat balls I guess would cause more...

    Future of Phantom 93p?

European seller noted to me that 93P will be continuing?
  22. S

    Prince Official - Racquets

That's not what I've heard. 93P will return from my understanding. Just a pity about the 97P, such a solid frame with BBO and Alu, stiffens up the response and plays so comfortable. I'd stock up on 97Ps but the grommets being discontinued is a bit of a pain.

    Prince Official - Racquets

100P was box beam, Pro 100 was rounded. Pro 100 was very low flex (54 from memory) and decent swingweight, with a lot of pocketing. 100P was higher twist weight and higher swingweight, a bit clubby. New frames coming soon? I just grabbed a 93P 14x18 as I am finally nearly ready after injury

Prince Phantom 97P Review / Discussion

It's completely different. In my experience it is more like an rf97; very stable and plays thick in the hand. Not whippy or soft like the phantom 97. I preferred the twist 97 and tour 95 to the graphite 97 (I had the 315g version). I would also like to try the graphite 93 but I am still injured...

    What is your grail frame?

I was just looking at this, is it the 18m that's meant to be best? Saw it's very nice feeling and control oriented, seems like a winner for the price they sell at. Like the PT 2.0 As for me, the feel of this is the best of any Babolat made and the control/playability with ultra low twist...

Prince Phantom 97P Review / Discussion

I hit with @Tao69 's 14x18 briefly and was pleasantly surprised at how well it played. I don't think a 16x19 would be different enough given Prince's history of 16x18 patterns being very controlled. The 97P is great with weight and it is a solid frame but the directness of the 93P layup is very...

Prince Phantom 97P Review / Discussion

The gold actually looked pretty great in person on the 97G, it just swung like a dual G / RF with the crossbar, very stable and unlike other phantoms. The 97P is still a great frame, but I think it really needs a very specific string because of the almost rubbery feel with a poly such as PTP...
