Playability diference of Babolat Pure Strike Tour

I know that I was kinda vague with my particularly my title of "Playability difference of Babolat Pure Strike Tour", without specifying what I was comparing it to. I guess I just meant compared to the 100²" rackets that I had mentioned in my first post (PA's, Head Extreme MP, Ripstick), or other...

Playability diference of Babolat Pure Strike Tour

Hey all, Curious what those of you that have played the PST thought about it, compared to other 100²" rackets. This is my first 98²" racket. It feels good. I truly like the racket. I've read about many saying it's for higher end players. I'm a 3.5. I've enjoyed groundstrokes from the baseline...

    Carlsbad, CA Tennis March 11-14th?

Hello all, I'm originally from Carlsbad, but live in Arizona now. Will be staying in Carlsbad from March 11th to the 14th. Was curious if there is some drop in play, or someone that would want to hit a few balls? I'll be staying near South Carlsbad State Beach. Earlier in the day, the better...

When I make the tour, no way the balls people are going to umbrella me!

I think that its a little bit of both of those things. I also will wear my hat forwards, if I'm trying to keep sun out of my eyes. I mostly wear a hat to control my hair, so I guess that I don't like the bill in my field of vision.

When I make the tour, no way the balls people are going to umbrella me!

I'll always prefer to wear my hat backwards. I'm 41. I also like flat billed hats, so I probably annoy people doubly. I will, however, turn it around if the sun is low and in my eyes, in those off chances that it will keep the sun out of my eyes while playing. Though, I will say that I'd...

What strings for this 4.0 player?

Okay, being a total gear nerd, and realizing that I need to learn about tennis strings and try some different tensions, I bought a Klippermate stringing machine! Hopefully it wasn't a mistake. I'll put some energy into learning the process, and I'll be able to re-string more frequently, as...

What strings for this 4.0 player?

I've kinda stuck to stringing my rackets as many times per year, as I play per week. Then, adjust accordingly, taking into consideration if I'm playing two rackets equally as much. So when I play roughly 3x per week, and play one racket, I'll have it strung 3x/year, or every 4 months. If I'm...

What strings for this 4.0 player?

When I first bought my Prince Ripstick, I had it strung with Yonex POLYTOUR REV 17 @ 53 lbs. It did feel a little hard to control at that time. Without knowing what to change, I had it restrung with Mains: Babolat Blast Through 17, 56 lbs Crosses: Tourna Quasi-Gut 17, 58 lbs. You can probably...

What strings for this 4.0 player?

A: Shouldn't have said I could pass as a 4.5 on a good day. I'm a 4.0 player. 2: I'm just not educated about string types. I need to read up on the nuances of the different types, it just is a lot of information. I have not made it a priority. I've been stringing my rackets the same, time...

What strings for this 4.0 player?

Thank you very much for such a thoughtful and time consuming response! I'll save this information, and try all of what you suggested!

What strings for this 4.0 player?

That's fair! I'm a hockey player, and couldn't much tell you the difference vlbetwen a 75 and 85 flex hockey stick, or 1/2" vs. 5/8" cut on skates. I'm not the best at discerning small differences in equipment, even when they are seemingly large differences to others. I cannot say why. I...

What strings for this 4.0 player?

Two rackets (Babolats) were re-strung last week. Barely broken in, and strung only 4 months prior to that. I'm kind of a gear "nerd", so I like looking at new rackets. I tried to shut down constantly buying new rackets. I've tried to be pretty religious about restringing. I just went with...

What strings for this 4.0 player?

Well, part of it is a fall when playing an exhibition ice hockey team against my sons hockey team this winter! The boys challenged the parents, and I was trying to make sure that we didn't lose. Being a fun little exhibition against 10 year old boys, I foolishly left my elbow pads in my gear...

What strings for this 4.0 player?

Hello all, I'm a 4.0 recreational player. Maybe could pass for a 4.5 on a better day. I play with a SHBH. 41 years old, pretty fit and like hitting with lots of spin. Been taking lots of lessons over the past year. Have a D1 college player that I take private lessons from. I take weekly...

Hahaha. I didn't catch that. I think that may have been my phone freelancing with the auto-correct.

What a bounce that racket took!

    US Open face plant!

Yes, the person running down the stairs, chasing after a ball signed by and hit into the crowd by Noskova and/or Hradecka.

    US Open face plant!

No. I was hopeful to find one. I'm watching on ESPN+, and not able to rewind.

    US Open face plant!

Did anyone catch that horrible face plant? After Linda Nosková and Lucie Hradecká beat Serena and Venus Williams? Noskova and Hradecka were hitting the signed balls into the crowd and a spectator crashed REALLY hard!

Is there a scientific way to calculate balance point?

You probably saw it, but checked the table method to my formula in the post just above yours. Probably submitted them at roughly the same time.

Is there a scientific way to calculate balance point?

My Head Extreme is listed to be "0.7 HL". 0.7X0.125(")=0.0875. So, 0.0875−13.5= 13.4125" advertised center of mass (Balance point). My measurement yielded a 13.396" center of mass. The very small difference (0.0165") is what, 1/60th of an inch. Probably the difference in string choice, plus...

Is there a scientific way to calculate balance point?

That was pretty quick, actually! Here's my starting points for my racquets: Head Extreme MP - 317.2g Bob weights: Handle: 160.1g Head: 154.7g Center of mass = 13.396" 0.832 pts HL. Babolat Pure Aero La Decima - 316.9g Bob weights: Handle: 162g Head: 152.8 Center of mass: 13.234" 2.128...

Is there a scientific way to calculate balance point?

Hey! I figured it out! The formula is: Center of mass = (m1r1 + m2r2 + ... + mNrN) / (m1 + m2 + ... + mN) m1 = weight at handle. r1 = distance from end of raccqet that measurement is taken. I balanced each handle 0.25" in from the end of the end cap, for consistency, and to make sure that it...

Is there a scientific way to calculate balance point?

I have an Ohaus Dial-o-gram scale. I can measure total weight. I have leveled the rackets and taken a weight at the head, with the tip of the handle supported level. I have also weighed the handle, with the head supported level. I SHOULD be able to get an accurate balance this way, if I only...

I'm really curious what string combinations and tensions folks have had success with in this racquet, as well as any combinations that you didn't like, and why!

    Good/bad OHBH Tweener racquets???

To further complicate things, I just bought a third racquet! I just (received yesterday) bought a Prince Ripstick 100 (300g), strung with Yonex Polytour REV 17 gauge string, strung at 53 lbs. Are my other two racquets indeed not good for a one handed backhand? If not, can someone explain...
