    Moving to Seattle Area

So far I'm loving playing at Seattle University courts, which at 7am appear to be empty all the time, and also at lower and upper woodlands. I hope winter and fall have mercy on my tennis routine! My current plan is to try Amy Yee to start with since you it requires no initiation / membership...

Need more power (currently using a Blade 98 v7 16x19)

I use polys because of the feel and topspin. I think the only famous-ish string I tend to use is Kirschbaum Maxpower @44 which is awful power and very nice feel and control. Sometimes I try cheap polys that supposedly have more power and to be honest barely notice the difference.

Need more power (currently using a Blade 98 v7 16x19)

Thank you, agreed. Any thoughts on Pure strike vs Aero VS vs Pure Aero ?? I was thinking Pure strike and Aero VS would be too similar to my blades power-wise. Is this not true ?

Need more power (currently using a Blade 98 v7 16x19)

O wow, amazing that you mention this. I actually play with leather grips:-D I didn't mention it because I honestlly did notice much of a change when I tried them out. The leather grips did give me a bit more stability and better return, so I kept them, even though in the serve I think the...

Need more power (currently using a Blade 98 v7 16x19)

I don't train with weights, I do feel that I could benefit from more muscle so that should be a goal. Curiously, I did add 3 grams of lead at 12 to 1 of my blades because they had different specs and I had to balance the SW. I felt that after that the racquets felt very similar, but I didn't...

Need more power (currently using a Blade 98 v7 16x19)

sorry I forgot to provide context. my rating is UTR 8.5 which I understand is around 4.5. My style is very well rounded, I do everything ok. I guess my biggest weakness is my serve since I get tired fast (weak back and core) and don't have huge % of first serves in. Your other question is...

Need more power (currently using a Blade 98 v7 16x19)

Hi guys! I've enjoyed my blades a lot the past 2 years, awesome comfort and feel and ok power. But now everything is changing for me, I'm moving from very high altitude to sea level, and I'm also changing from clay to hard courts. I guess I'm going to need more power, and I've felt the...

    Moving to Seattle Area

Hi, Anyone here from Seattle or nearby ? I'm moving soon to Seattle and one of my key criteria to rent a place is tennis courts availability. I currently have 2 trains of thought: 1. Try to be near lower woodland courts (around greenlake) or other outdoors public courts. I'm guessing if it...

What do you gain by adding a leather grip ?

haha you are right, interesting. I wonder why he didn't mention the added weight, seems like an important part of the equation.

Should I replace my ASICS Gel Resolution 8’s?

Thanks for the reply! o wow I thought my shoes were just broken / defective. It happens only on my right foot (I'm right handed). This is sad news, I love ASICS shoes, I wonder what other models have the same issue now...

    Diary of a Racketaholic

Hey Racketholics, Is there raquet tiers in any regards or consensus about best weapons under certain categories were racquets can be compared ? OR is it such a subjective topic or even competition between brands that there is no consensus and all options could be considered the best choice...

What do you gain by adding a leather grip ?

6 months ago or so, I went for it, I added leather grips to my 2 blades (v7 16x19). I wanted to gain some plow-through and stability and more maneuverability relative to the static weight. I think I liked the change, since I stick with it but it wasn't a clear improvement. Sometimes I think...

Should I replace my ASICS Gel Resolution 8’s?

Has anyone had problems with friction between the shoe (Gel Resolution 8) and your inner ankle ? I bought a pair and first session I was basically cut by the shoe. Tiny spot were shoe punctured me with its pointy edge around the shoe lace last hole.

What are the cons / disadvantages of customizing your racquet ?

Very tempted to buy a head pro tour 2.0 or a pure strike tour, instead of trying to customize my blade racquets. Seems like patience is key and I don't have a lot of free time these days.

What are the cons / disadvantages of customizing your racquet ?

I want to chase maneuverability, less head heavy, and also stability and plow-through - sometimes I think I can handle more weight and I am limiting my game with a 305 grams racquet. But I want to validate my hypothesis and Im not sure whats the right experiment to do so.

What are the cons / disadvantages of customizing your racquet ?

Number 1 and 4 are big concerns for me, don't want to get obsessed and overthinking everything while playing.

What are the cons / disadvantages of customizing your racquet ?

I am very curious about experimenting a higher static weight and a less head heavy (more head light) setup, so I wanted to ask what are the disadvantages of customizing my current racquet. I don't want to improve some aspects of the racquet but unknowingly mess up other qualities of it, I want...

    Aslan Karatsev

In my opinion, doping in tennis is only relevant on the stamina and speed factors, tennis shots themselves I don't think any doping helps there since it is about technique, moving the whole body+racquet with precision, and we know doping does not give you that. Yes, power in shots has some...

Advice for a high school player who has committed to a tennis program? Play lots of tournaments or not?

Play tournaments, make sure she can enjoy the matches and competition instead of stressing over results, improvement comes with practice and experience and losing is natural and a big part of the game.

LETTER FROM A TENNIS CHILD TO THEIR PARENTS. Part 2

Hi friend, I also quit tennis when I was around 14 y/o because of burnout, now I am 30 and playing again for fun a couple of times a week. Here are some thoughts that maybe you can find helpful. - Only play if it makes you happy. The decision is yours and it is a good one (quitting) as long...

The top complaint about Babolats are the high stiffness - why haven't the Market responded with a flexible Babolat?

Wow sorry about that, bad luck :( ... do you think the racquet was particularly fragile or the hit was worthy of breaking any racquet?

New Racquet for a player coming back from retirement

I am afraid that maybe I would not have the strength/stamina/power to get advantage from it and I think I can be precise with a racquet that helps me a bit more with the power. Thats my reasoning so far, thanks for the advice!

New Racquet for a player coming back from retirement

Thank you, About my playing level/rating I was going by some youtube videos but I went back to check and my peak tennis is around 5.0 USTA (not 6.0). Yes, I want something different, I played with that hammer since I was 12 years old and I feel I am playing with a handicap. I did try out a...
