Isner and Mahut are an embarrassment to tennis

It wasn't that great of a match. It makes me think they need some kind of compromise, like a tie break when it reaches 18-18 or something. There was a point in the fifth where they were just too tired to react and make good returns. No matter how tired most pro tennis players are, they can...

    Federer vs Falla W 2010

Wow. No excuses from Federer in the interview. Very classy as usual. He admits that he should have lost and was just lucky. He said his opponent played really good and kept him neutralized for the first 3 sets.

    Federer vs Falla W 2010

LOL @ that one line judge getting LOW and really dramatic.

    End of Federer's Career

I think he will play until he is injured or can no longer win slams. He wants to put a big slam gap between himself and Sampras so he will be the GOAT for as long as possible.

    Wow...what are you doing Murray?!

HAHA! Perfect timing for that pic. Also, what's up with ESPN's pic of Murray that they keep showing? He looks overly photoshopped with perfect skin like a model or something. If it didn't have his name beside it, I wouldn't recognize him. WTF would they do that?

He's playing, you know, me, who's won many Grand Slams

English isn't his first language (I think). Even though he speaks it almost perfectly, he might not realize that he is coming across as cocky.

Should "foot fault" rule be changed?

The rule is fine how it is. Stop being ridiculous. Stepping on the line to serve can be the difference between an ace and a ball going into the net. We don't see it called very often because it DOESN'T HAPPEN very often. Pros have done this their whole lives, and know to keep their foot...

What is the key to hitting the ball on the rise?

If a shot is coming deeper than I expected and I have to take it way early, I get a better shot if I bend my knees to get a little lower.

Any Federer Fans Not Too Upset?

Delpo is a good guy. Complaining about the cup on that serve was the only thing that annoyed me. I'm a huge *******, but think Delpo absolutely deserved it. That being said, I think this was one of the most poorly handled US Opens ever, and some people in the USTA need to resign or be...

Congratulations to Juan Martin Del Potro

That was rude of Dick Enberg to not let Del Potro speak to his Spanish speaking fans when he asked. And the second time, he finally let him speak but told him to make it quick. What an *******; let the champion speak for a minute.

    Serena releases a formal statement

Not to mention threatening them with a deadly weapon by holding the racquet in the manner she did. Imagine a baseball player threatening an umpire with a bat. He would be gone for the whole season.

    Was it a foot fault?

Yes, the pros who are weak minded and feel the pressure are more likely to make a mistake like sliding their foot during a serve, and they must be called on it. That is why it happened on a big point, because of the pressure of losing the 5 previous points. BTW, there is a press box directly...

    Serena W

The part of her she making contact with the ground is the widest part of the shoe. I guess it is possible that she turned her foot beyond parallel with the baseline, but we will just have to wait until USTA or someone in the crowd posts the revealing pics.

    The Serena Apologists Thread

Also, she only foot faulted because of the pressure of the whole crowd being against her. You see, even though she is American, the US Open crowd hates her because she is black. Only once she is dead will they realize how great she was at tennis and show more of her matches on TV. (see her...

It WAS a foot fault...and Clijsters would have won anyway.

I bet a pic comes out today that will put this to rest. There were hundreds of cameras there, so surely someone captured it.

    The Serena Apologists Thread

I can't believe the first 2 people thought that might be serious. You wouldn't know sarcasm if it shoved a ball down your throat.

It's time to start challenging foot faults (a la Hawkeye)

Even if your shoestring is touching the line, it is a foot fault. Hawkeye cameras are in the tops of the stadiums. Foot fault cameras would need to be much lower so they can see what part of the shoe is contacting the ground and what part is not.

    Was it a foot fault?

Look, tennis is about self control and mental strength, especially on crucial points. Serena was feeling the pressure and pivoted her foot (which she does not normally do), putting the side of her foot on the line.

    Was it a foot fault?

Just found this quote from an interview: "I'm pretty sure I did. If she called a foot fault, she must have seen a foot fault." Source: http://ballhype.com/story/i-m-pretty-sure-i-did-if-she-called-a-foot-fault-she/ --- And you idiots saying it doesn't matter if it was a foot fault need to...

    Was it a foot fault?

Actually, this thread is called "Was it a foot fault?" Which is why I anxiously await pics that conclusively show that it was. There was so many cameras out there, so someone had to get a shot of it. I hope today the pics begin to surface.

    Was it a foot fault?

No high res pics from the sidelines yet? And no poll option for "inconclusive?" Serena foot faults all the time, and I see no reason to doubt the line judge's call here. Feet are MUCH easier to see than a fast moving ball, and they get close line calls within 2mm correct over 80% of the time...

Mixed Doubles Final: Black/Paes vs Huber/Murray

I agree, but women gripe about wanting the same pay as men, so they would probably gripe about this being sexist as well.

What should happen to this ballboy as a result of his obscenity during US Open final?

Weird. After watching it full screen, it appears that he scratches his butt before raising his finger. I can't tell 100% if it's his middle or index finger. Maybe it was an innocent gesture, but it sure appears to be a flip-off at first glance.

What should happen to this ballboy as a result of his obscenity during US Open final?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PP9U7_pktpg&fmt=18 I think NYC should cite him for obscenity and the FCC should fine his @$$ as well. SPOILER the score can be seen in the corner so I posted this here.

Men & Women: Equal Prize Money [Merged]

No one wants women to play 5 set matches. It would turn off the viewers, bore the crowds, and make tourneys even longer. The only logical option is to reduce their pay. It will be interesting to see how many viewers the women's final had vs the men's final. Even though the men's final falls on a...

    Federer's Topspin Overhead Lob

I saw this one too. It was like a baseball player trying to steal a home run. He over head sliced it without even looking back and it dropped in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Hp-EArV6s8

    Federer's Topspin Overhead Lob

My vote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ll7SCg-tZ08&fmt=18 Watch the ballgirl duck! I also liked his between the legs VOLLEY against Henman at the US Open 2 years ago I think.

US Open SF [3]Novak Djokovic vs. [2]Roger Federer

I think they will be 98% behind Federer. Djoko was out of line saying the whole crowd didn't believe his injuries. Roddick is the one who said it. Then, it could just be poor English and he didn't mean it that way.
