    Watching The Ball

+1 I do the same thing. Not that watching the ball is a bad thing, but i like to keep an eye on my opponent and find a target using my peripherals. My body does the rest to get the ball where i want it to go. IMO watching where ur racquet hits the ball doesnt affect directional control. The...

    Gamma X-6FC Stringing Machine

Ive had said gamma stringer for about a year and havent found any problems with it. I string mainly for myself with the odd one or two for a friend. Its my first stringer so i have nothing to compare to, but im satisfied with my investment for how i use it.

What is wrong with this picture

Isn't it given that max speed is at the end of acceleration just before deceleration occurs? How did this argument even start? Lol

What is wrong with this picture

Oh ****, my mistake. I thought it was labelled in order. I missed that E was the peak and not C xD. Then I agree with you.

What is wrong with this picture

I agree with the first part but... Does the racquet not start decelerating at point C? Hence the decrease in racquet speed. Max speed is at C as you've labelled on your diagram yourself.

What is wrong with this picture

Point E has negative acceleration because it is decelerating.

What is wrong with this picture

Sorry, I guess this is what happens when I jump into a convo in the middle without reading everything xD I agree with cheetah, hitting at A is way better than E because the racquet is accelerating. Although the speed is the same, f = ma not ms. There is much less force when hitting at E due to...

What is wrong with this picture

Oh, my mistake. So you're saying by having the impact point higher, youre giving yourself more time to accelerate the racquet to the ball?

What is wrong with this picture

With regards to hitting the ball when it's faster vs slower, the ball will be going faster towards A and slower towards E. depending on your level and the shot your trying to hit, each has it's advantages. Hitting on the rise is more aggressive but requires more racquet speed to overcome the...

What is wrong with this picture

The ball doesn't speed up near the peak... It constantly slows down as it approaches you. Regarding the vertical axis, the ball decelerates going up and accelerates on the way down due to gravity. On the horizontal axis, the ball continually slows down after the bounce. Now, if there's spin on...

varying tensions during summer and winter

I guess people in FL or other generally warm areas don't really have to worry about this much, but for people in Canada or elsewhere where conditions vary a lot, do you adjust your tensions to accommodate the temperature and humidity of different seasons? If so, how do you make the adjustments...

    has anyone gone from 4 1/2 to 4 3/8?

Hmm didn't think about it like that... Interesting point you bring up. Well, I guess I'll just order one and see how it is.

these are my strings, what combination would you recommend?

So first off, here's a bit of background info. 4.5 player using n90 and blx90. Currently using, and most preferred, nxt 16 (or 17) at 48lbs. I've found Forten syngut 16 to be a cheap and tolerable alternative also at 48lbs. I used to string at 60-63lbs but over the past year I've made my way...

    has anyone gone from 4 1/2 to 4 3/8?

Thanks for all the replies guys! I've always known that my hand size requires a 4 1/2 grip and it feels fine cuz its what I've played with all this time, but I've noticed that everyone's using a smaller than suitable grip. Even in pros cases, it seems like a lot of them go for 3/8. I can't...

    has anyone gone from 4 1/2 to 4 3/8?

Hey guys, I'm a 4.5 player and I've been playing tennis for about 8 years now. I'm currently using the Wilson six-one tour 90 in 4 1/2 and have been for the past 5 years or so. I'm considering moving down to 4 3/8 and was wondering if anyone else has done this and can offer some insight. Did you...

    Wilson NXT strings durability?

NXT is my go to string, but it's costly and I go thru it sooo fast. Playing doubles, I'll go thru a fresh set of 16g in about 20 hrs. Even if I buy the cheap mini reels, still very costly. I'm also interested in how NXT compares to MAX.

    Stringing racquets is so tedious...

+1 I only string my own racquets and occasionally one for a friend. I love stringing my racquets. I agree that sometimes you just don't have the time and it can be tedious to string like 3-5 in a row, but... I just put on some music, or tennis on tv, and get lost in the process as well ^^...
