How did your team and you do at Nationals? That will definitely drive how big the tweak is. 2022: TR 4.41, Schmke 4.48, Team went 4-0 at 40+ Nationals in pool play, lost in semis. I went 5-0 in dubs playing with our highest-rated player. BUMP to 5.0, appeal not available. 2023: TR 4.41...

Yeah, NorCal 18+ 4.5s the last two years did well in pool play, but fizzled in the semis.

When did the 4.5 NorCal team win nationals?

Maybe he woke up after the first set on 6/24. It would be so easy for the USTA algorithm to throw away these dubious results.

I went from 14 to 25 in singles, and 7 to 22 in doubles. I'm also decaying/aging.

No televised trophy presentation, but ESPN respected the Women's doubles final enough to begin coverage midway through the second game.

Hsieh Su-wei has such a wonderful personality and gives hilarious interviews. Not happy Tennis Channel decided to bypass the trophy presentation. Confident TC would have showed it had Fernandez/Townsend won.

As long as the player is qualified for Nationals on the Sectionals-winning team, I don’t think the player’s second team has any advancement criteria.

During regular season and local playoff matches, NorCal let’s the home team decide whether to play a full third or a match tiebreaker. Once teams advance to Districts and Sectionals, NorCal exclusively uses match tiebreakers.

I agree the 4-line format drastically reduces sandbagging at Nationals, but most strong teams, with eyes on Nationals, don't worry about the regular season matches

With the one flight, four advance format, teams/captains feel the pressure to win every match. The best teams either have to play their top guys until they drop or have 3-4 top-level alternates. That's a lot harder to do at the 40+ level. The dreaded 2-2 tie/loss can ruin an entire season, so...
