One thing you can try is to skip the second to last cross, then string the last cross with the same weave as the third to last cross, and then come back on the second to last to complete the frame. You'd essentially simul-pull the last two crosses, but I suspect it'll still be better than not...

Yeah, I really like the clamp heads (also Xpider). I'm not really sold on these particular push-down bases as much as others are so far. I "grew up" on normal twisty action clamps, and the muscle memory doesn't make the push down any faster.

loctite definitely has interactions with polycarbonate, but I'm not aware of any issue using them with Nylon. Couldn't find any mentions in their datasheets or technical literature. Definitely would like the thread/bolt size documented though!

I can't imagine that the head and shaft are one piece... that'd be very expensive to manufacture. Assuming they're separable, you can probably adapt the thing to a drill chuck and use wet sandpaper to reduce the diameter. It won't be incredibly precise, but should get the job done.
