    Forehand take back query

@ballmachineguy and all... For Swing path: do u swing [the racket head] toward the target (a spot in opponent court) or you just keep the circular swing path as is?

    Forehand take back query

Ok. Do you think Nadals takeback n backswing ez and effective? His straight arm FORWARD swing is too hard though. Forget it.

    How to make instruction video?

U r correct in this case. I do have the problem of ocd. I need to settle for a stroke n ride into sunset with it. It's sooo hard with changing.

    Forehand take back query

I wonder if one would feel alot more comfortable with one style over others. Or, if it's just a matter of practice. I have tried alot and understood alot too but i could never get that familiar feeling that I could swing all day n don't miss.

Anyone else hate their forehand volley?

When you have to move to volley, which foot do you think to move first? For FH and BH.

What a pain! One handed backhand

Agreed. That's what I alluded to, above. When your techniques are good enough (and you're not insane) your mind & subconscious mind let you swing out accordingly, ie "freely". Naturally if you don't have proper techniques, positioning and you try to swing freely, you'll "go down in flames"...

Arming your forehand? Here’s a tip that works

Nice find! The lady video. I'm a big proponent on the non-dom arm actions being up and pulling in. Curious, do you remember that you once called me a non-dom or off hand police ? :)

What a pain! One handed backhand

That's a recurring theme with our bud Curious.

What a pain! One handed backhand

Which is it? all of us cares or no one cares? Can't be both though. Classic Curious -- full of contradiction and nonsense ;) Once again he thinks his limited experience is reality of everyone else.

What a pain! One handed backhand

Does that mean you can keep up at your full potential, what? 4.0, 4.5 level?, with someone at that caliber in a rally since it's not a rec match?

What a pain! One handed backhand

@Curiuos It's not ego. It's our collective experience that shapes our swings. If you fail enough times the subconscious mind needs to take precaution. That's all. Do this test. Perform this easiest overhead, like ball 8feet high just right above the net for you to smash, would you hesitate...

    How to make instruction video?

This is soo true in my case. After almost 20 years I'm still learning the FH. LOL. I need some MEPness and less Curiousness in me!!!

    Why do we suck?

Yeah...I was being too dramatic with the cancer analogy, but point stands regarding ...learning more, knowing more, hopefully finding the passion... or at least killing the boredom while away from the courts. So, you think reaching 4.5, 5.0 levels is about setting goals and being around those...

    Why do we suck?

Honestly i don't even remember I have started other threads on this topic but perhaps you're correct about more or less the same craps being discussed. That said, good luck finding fresh, totally original contents. I think you misunderstood me about wanting to improve or commitments or anything...

    Why do we suck?

It's just conversations of interests. Maybe someone find it interesting or maybe not. Maybe it's helpful to learn something about oneself, where we are. This is akin to while you're trying to overcome a terminal cancer and hearing someone has beaten it. Or, maybe you belong to the 99% that say...

    Why do we suck?

if I could retain all the nice things and reduce, eliminate the bad things over all these years of trying, practicing, I would be as good as a semi-pro (minus the power :)) But rec tennis doesn't work that way. We discover something nice, keep it for a while, then fade out. Repeat. 3.5 for...

    Why do we suck?

I think only @Curious started the thing about "after 40 and becomes a 5.0" and then proceed to question it. What a weird way to conduct conversation. Read back, I think I only mentioned 4.5 after 10+ years which I have met plenty in a league competition. 4.5 after 12, 15, 20 years, even...

Where to look after hitted the ball?

I'm talking about ATP, WTA levels. How would they know? Pros suppose to have the textbook on techniques, right?

What a pain! One handed backhand

You have good power if you can hit all the way behind the baseline. Keep it up.

    Why do we suck?

Since I started this thread -- basically just a way for me to pay more attention to my game -- I have become less sucky. Won two sets and tied one against my usual friends :) I just recalled how to read and intercept the incoming ball better. Plus, developed a more compact takeback. I just...

Where to look after hitted the ball?

If you're not tracking your shot, how are you able to know your shot is in or out, and challenge the call if necessary?

    Why do we suck?

    (y)(y) exactly.

    Why do we suck?

Agreed with these parts. The problem is Curious can only speak of his (small) world and believe it is reality everywhere. :)

    Why do we suck?

I play with one guy like that. No idea what his rating is. A woman in our group dated him and dragged him to the courts like 4 years ago which was the time he started learning. Today he competes well with...the main crowd. He could poach, volley better than many who have played for 10, 15...

    Why do we suck?

see, I told you they exist. Just because we suck, doesn't mean others are like us  To you tennis might be like ...Olympic gymnastics... simply impossible but to them it's like pickleball. Many people just don't suck at pb. They simply pick up a paddle and play pb well.

Where to look after hitted the ball?

Thanks for your texts on this subject but tbh I still don't understand much because words rarely effectively describe actions. Do you know any instructional videos that teach ball tracking techniques? That you would recommend?

Zero Backswing on the Forehand - Can't Extend Hitting Arm!

Wow...this is also my current struggle. Interestingly my back swing looks like yours. IMO it is too short, compact and reduced power. I guess learn to keep the elbow higher. Any change's gonna make your game suffer for a while.

Enough to know, C. Is there USTA or league tournaments in your part of the world?
