    2023 Australian Open - Women's Singles Discussion

while being overweight can certainly cause diabetes over time, ostapenko isn’t really THAT big (plus still in great shape fitness wise) plus hasn’t carried a little extra weight for nearly long enough to cause diabetes.

    2023 Australian Open - Women's Singles Discussion

^this. she used to bring much more variety to her game. Just a fluke, or is it the result of the overwhelming emphasis among womens coaches on hard and deep ground strokes? I swear the vast majority of coaches seem to think that’s the only way to win slams on th WTA, going so far as to make...

    Laver Cup 2022

thenyou clearly do not understand sports. There is no bigger disrespect than not trying your absolute best against a great athlete. throwing the match is akin to saying “I don’t think you’re good enough to beat me on your own merits”

Name the players that will stop Alcaraz from breaking the GS record

Typical TTW, somebody arguing a player will break the GS record after their 1st win, LOL Fact is, many things have to go right to win just 1, and how slams will pan out in the future 10 years is completely unpredictable. Even if I ignore a potential covid situation (because that's hopefully not...

I think she’ll beat tomlhanovic too. kontaveit played pretty well most of the match, except the last set. Her terrible performance is exaggerated IMO and I don’t see tomljanovic winning

to be fair, these are very difficult circumstances to play under and she has for the most part played decent. Many players would’ve collapsed rapidly

this was always going to be a difficult match For her, with samsonova tremendously improved the past year and onan 11-match hot streak at the moment. leylah appears to not have an answer to the samsonova serve

What would really be the death of tennis as we know it?

    * Best of 3 Grand Slam matches - No, it would suck but tennis as a sport wouldn't materially change. It would however diminish the grandeur of winning a slam, because masters tourney would suddenly become harder (physically) than slams to win * Abolition of second serve - No, again would take...

What would really be the death of tennis as we know it?

You're probably right, alas. I'd rather see grand slams using the NextGen finals format (BO5 but with sets being shorter) than go to BO3 EDIT: IF there would need to be a change. I personally like it the way it is. It's bad enough they got rid of BO5 for the ATP finals and finals of MS tourneys

Why not, let's pay attention to Challengers too...

THB, after his grass season he was bound to have a setback on his way to hopefully becoming a steady top-100 player. First off, he will need to start winning regularly outside of grass. This might take a while.

2022 Wimbledon QF: Novak Djokovic vs. Jannik Sinner

I can already see the headlines: “djokovic wins after EPiC 5-setter” or EPIC comeback. note to the press: not every 5-set match is epic by default. If djokovic wins the last 3 with 6-3, 6-1, 6-1 it’s not epic

2022 Wimbledon R16: Novak Djokovic vs. Tim van Rijthoven

thats because TVR has the potential to be a steady top 30 player. It’s mostly djokovic level that makes him look like a journeyman these last 2 sets. Against almost anyone else TVR would have a solid chance of winning

2022 Wimbledon R16: Novak Djokovic vs. Tim van Rijthoven

i think his mindset is fine. We can’t expect a player with literally zero experience to do any more than he already did. Played great, hanging tough even this set (little bad luck too). expecting more would be unreasonable

2022 Wimbledon R16: Novak Djokovic vs. Tim van Rijthoven

whqt did you expect exactly from a guy with fewer than 10 matches totalon the ATP? To actually be able to challenge djokovic? Tim had m breakpoints in several serve games which is honestly as much as we could expect

2022 Wimbledon R16: Novak Djokovic vs. Tim van Rijthoven

Honestly, Tim hasn’t been bad at all. Just doesn’t have the experience in general, and certainly not against a wall like player such as djokovic. todays experience will serve him well I hope
