What a pain! One handed backhand

Even though you're stationary and waiting to hit the same ball, you look too far away from it. Perhaps the camera angle. The power element is good although very flat. No low to high and I think in a rally you would spill it.

What a pain! One handed backhand

For This guy is hitting way too flat and over rotating. The racquet needs to start in a much higher position.

Wilson Pro Labs: Blade Pro Official Thread

Use a thinner guage as Kvan suggested. I use a 17 multi and its gives it more pop and all whilst being lighter

What a pain! One handed backhand

Yes this is your thread Curious and a good one . Don't listen or conform to judgmental opinions who criticise why, when and how you post. It's none of their concern.

Play tests for a forgiving player’s-ish racket/ help me choose

The Gpro and the other frames aren't in the same league. You're talking about a 340g racquet here. The Gpro is forgiving but not that accurate despite the 18 mains. Ive also owned a Blade 100 which is on the other weight spectrum. The EZ is your best frame here , even though I had control...

    Quest for 5.0 at 50?

You can temporarily game the algorithm but don't take your jacket off .

    Quest for 5.0 at 50?

However you pursue it it's still an achievement, especially at 50! So best of luck OP :) Edit: don't get injured

    Quest for 5.0 at 50?

No its mainly higher 4.0's on the quest for vanity UTR ratings which are beyond their ability to sustain. UTR ratings can sometimes flatter to deceive, which is what I mean by 'flaky'.

Play tests for a forgiving player’s-ish racket/ help me choose

If that's the choice I would go with the Ezone

    Quest for 5.0 at 50?

The MEP is back thread seemed dedicated to and a celebration of just that. Perhaps I misconstrued it?

    teach the hand first!

OP are you an advocate of the short game where players warm up at the net? That seems largely dependent on the wrist. It's amazing how many players, even good ones, who cant keep the ball short.

    Quest for 5.0 at 50?

I think you can acquire a fleeting UTR 5.0 ranking if you play in enough tournaments against flaky 4.0's. The ones MEP typically likes to beat. At any club you know who the real 5.0's are, can you hang with them?

The weirdest explanation for a line call I've ever heard

Its a silly thread as it doesn't even look marginal. Nearly as good as the one where a player confiscated a point with a retrospective line call after a throw away comment by their net man.

What a pain! One handed backhand

I'm not clear what your abbreviations stand for? The beauty of what this guy is teaching is 5:24, namely the take back lock. Overall he's simplifying something which has become over complicated. No radical surgery.

What a pain! One handed backhand

Personally, I would use the wrist or turn the door nob technique more on returns, as my stoke is abbreviated, relying more on arm movement. If in free play my frame is back and locked with arm movement more automatic. Its both reliable and powerful, plus its a lot of fun.

What a pain! One handed backhand

Yes but you need something that is consistent and easy to execute under pressure  Not coughing up loopy short balls.

What a pain! One handed backhand

Maybe I'm lazy, but I like a heavier control orientated frame combined with early prep and let the weight & mass takes care of the swing path. No coughing up short balls or swatting nats. Its really the only way to go :)

What a pain! One handed backhand

Any player possessing a half decent OHBH and that's very few on this thread, can easily see why Curious can't generate depth. It's because his backswing is too shallow. Also the OP's obviously retired and tennis plays a big part in his life.
  22. Jono123

What a pain! One handed backhand

It really depends on the OP's goals. If he wants a OHBH which is adequate and reliable, it will probably suffice, as long as he manages to avoid TE . Personally I would prefer developing something deeper and penetrative. More of a weapon.
  23. Jono123

What a pain! One handed backhand

This is the issue with smaller take backs on the OHBH, results in short balls and more likely to breakdown in a rally.

Yet another my two handed backhand or one handed backhand thread

I wouldn't recognize a good double handed backhand if it smacked me in the mouth. However as a dedicated OHBH player I can see holes. Premature hand release, over rotation and a too passive non dominant arm affecting your balance. All certainly repairable .

I'm struggling to see which grip you're referencing here with the 'index knuckle on the ridge near the the 2.3.' Is it the Australian?

Serve placement challenge for 6 weeks

That's a pretty fluid serve. Practicing on clay is great as you can go and inspect the marks to see a cluster. I get a niggle in my shoulder after a long session but my frame's on the heavier side and I probably arm it too much.
  27. Jono123

What a pain! One handed backhand

Another asset on the OHBH is using a heavier frame. If you have it cocked and prepped the sheer mass will drive the ball forward, rather than relying on arm movement. It doesn't necessarily give the lift of the thumb rotation Beast is referencing , put it does provide depth and power.

What a pain! One handed backhand

Yes, he's generating all the power in a small compact swing. Although it looks easy , its anything but. Go for a higher starting position and let the racquet do the work. Edit : and by work, I mean not only generating power but executing the correct swing path.

What a pain! One handed backhand

It is. Which is why you need to simplify your stroke
