Who Wins From Here (Post Djokoraz Departure)?

The two best players on their respective tours right now are Sinner and Sabalenka. They have one thing in common; they didn't play a 5th major in late July. So, I'm going with that.

    Cincinnati Open ATP M1000 2024

A lot of sports teams play in another city. The Buffalo Bills play in Orchard Park. Both the NY Giants and Jets play in another state. The SF 49ers play in Santa Clara. Not even unique in Tennis. In Canada, it says Toronto on the court but it's played in York, ON. That's further from the CN...

    WTA 2024 Toronto 1000

Only about an hour and a half by car from home for her. It’s the closest thing to a home tournament that she’s got.

    Osaka playing qualies in Cincinnati

I don’t know, but I was at that match today and it was fun to watch. If she can keep her head, she can beat anybody on hard court. But she went through a spell where she couldn’t t make a serve in the deuce court.

Yes, he was. Or at least a racquet with a shift paint job.

Alcaraz is coming for All BIG 3 records!!

Who knew that one of the most toxic corners of the Internet would be a tennis message board? Can’t we just be happy that we finally have a young player who has an all-court game, is willing to take risks, and comes up big in the important moments? Between Sinner and Alcaraz we will have some...

    RO24 R4 Sinner VS Moutet

I’ve been told my entire tennis-watching life that Americans are uncultured boors for cheering double faults. Then what does that make the French?

who do you like to see lose??

You bumped a thread so old that Rublev was 10 when it was created and Rune was 4. But to answer the question, I hate any player who yells at ball kids.

What is your favorite men's US Open Final to rewatch?

It really was a contrast of styles. Balding Andre in the baggy brown shirt vs Pete looking dapper in white. Pete's S&V game and huge serve against the best returner the game had ever seen (to that point). It was a great match. You posting this sent me back to watch highlights. What I'm most...

Colin Cowherd: "Novak Djokovic has no fans, but gets every break from organizers"

American sports talking heads’ business model is to **** people off to generate clicks and attention. This pisses off the entire country of Serbia. So Cowherd FTW.

Roddick & Petkovic Put Delusional Fans In Place

I think that anyone who thinks this has never been to a professional tennis tournament live. The angle they use on TV to make the game watchable makes the shots seem a lot slower than they are. Even sitting in a stadium doesn't do it justice. But if you go to a tournament and watch a match on...

Chances of Alcaraz winning the US Open?

If you bet $100 on Ruud, you win an additional $190. On Alcarez, you have to bet $233 to win $100.

Pegula drinks a beer in her press conference

The only reason that wasn’t a Labatt’s Blue is because of sponsorships. She’s already over the match because IT’S GAMEDAY! Let’s go Buffalo!!!!

    USO’22 QF: #3 C Alcaraz (ESP) vs #11 J Sinner (ITA)

According to both the ATP site and Wikipedia he’s 6’2”

    USO’22 QF: #3 C Alcaraz (ESP) vs #11 J Sinner (ITA)

CA is too short. Sinner is in that 6’2” sweet spot with Djokovic. in the Poly era, players gotta be between 6’1” and 6’3”. Any shorter they can’t hit down on the serve and any taller they can’t move well enough.

    Tomljanovic, what a classy lady

Pretty amazing. I and 5 other people watched her beat Nuria Parraziaz Diaz on court 9 in Cincinnati in the quailes. Being able to lock in on a match in front of nobody (which Fognini couldn’t do) and then ignore 70,000 against you shows an incredible level of mental fortitude. I don’t hate...

    6-0 7-6 6-0

Nobody gives up on a match like Paire does. When I saw the score line at 4-0 in the third I just had to flip it on in my office to see if he would even finish it out. He even tried to pack up at 5-0, not realising that he had another game to play. He stopped moving his feet in that last game...

When was the last time you attended a pro tennis match?

I saw Alcaraz the week before that in Cincinnati. He had to qualify, and my son took a liking to him then and decided to start following him closely. For his first-round match against Sonego, we sat right next to JC Ferrero I saw Stan hit with Carlos Alcarez and Tiafoe hit with Shapo in...

When was the last time you attended a pro tennis match?

Cincinnati last week. Went to 4 sessions, never set foot on Center Court because I had nosebleed seats, and avoided the Rafa and Serena nights. I never paid more than $35 for a ticket. The level of access to the players and the ability to watch matches courtside make professional tennis the best...

It's translated from German. It originally said that she is the most successful "Schweizer Sportlerin" (Swiss sportswoman) of all time.

Anybody watching Sabalenka's crazy serves in current match?

In America, we’d say that she’s got the yips. Like a second baseman who suddenly can’t throw to first.

What was KEY to Medvedev's win tonight?

OK, watching this again the key game was the fourth game in the second. That's the one with the weird music let. Novak got two break points in that game, one after the music. He then smashed a racquet and Med held. That's where you can see that this was not going to follow the pattern of all the...

What Med meant at the end of his speech and his weird celebration "Only Legends will Understand" , courtesy @NaomiKonjuhPotapova

I saw Kasatkina on the outer practice courts in Cincinnati working with three other players. She seems to be the coolest, most laid-back player on tour. She's super relaxed and loose, and seems to enjoy playing and interacting with other players. She has a Pikachu on her tennis bag. I think...
