THE MIGHTY PRO STAFF 90 THREAD

BreakPoint - the time is now for you to convince Wilson to produce a true 6.0 90. I will make a commitment for 7 minimum at $199.99 each. Where do I order? Hell, put me down for 10. Let's go Wilson! You have 100 frames out, and only 3 of them are just OK.

    6.8 85 Transition Help

Until Head changes their grip shape, my OHBH doesn't work with their frames. For me, the Prince shape is perfect and Wilson very good. All others, unfortunately, tend to aggravate me...feel unstable/awkward. Love Yonex until they changed the grip shape (from best racquets of all time----1980s...

    6.8 85 Transition Help

This was my first thought. I just shook my head at the stock specs on this one. Why not 12 ounces and more headlight with a 320 - 325 or so SW? Would be awesome. Disappointed to see it already has leather as I was just going to add leather for more HL balance. Strange to see tons of light...

    6.8 85 Transition Help

I might try the PS97...I have an aversion to anything > 19mm but maybe I can seek professional help! RF97 SW is > 330, not the direction for me.

    6.8 85 Transition Help

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I also own two Vantage 90s and keep going back to the 6.0. I wish I got the 95s...I've been on Angell site a bunch lately and have been gravitating towards TC97. Any experience with than one? Thanks!

    6.8 85 Transition Help

Hey everyone. Been years since regular posting (4 year tennis layoff due to injuries/surgery etc.) and want to get back into tennis. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to try (buy) the 2014 ProStaff 90, 95 and PCG 100. I'm looking for a worthy 6.0 85 replacement and the ProStaff S looks...

    What's wrong with Yonex?

Hey Sarge. Yeah, I've been off the board for about a year. Recovering from knee surgery and itching to play again due to the Open! I just loved the old Yonex 18.5 mm box beams. Great racquets. I want Yonex to succeed but they won't get another dime from me anytime soon. Bring back the classics...

    What's wrong with Yonex?

Most R series were better than anything today. Yonex changed to widebodies and never looked back. The few recent thinner beamed racquets have been stiff lead pipes with no feel & 330+ sw...not headlight enough. Bring back R22 and R-10 with nice cosmetics and they will sell better than anything...

    PS 6.0 85 - still playable in 2012 ?!

Nope. New tech. "improvements" = marketing gimmicks and cost cutting. Nothing is better than 80's graphite (w/box beam construction). Cosmetics have improved...that's it.

    Modern Estusa Power Beam Braided?

Great racquet but I liked the Power Beam (not Pro) even more.

''I can cry like Roger, it's just a shame I can't play like him.''

This match marks the end of mids and 1hbhs. What?

Most 'Solid' Racquet You've Ever Played With?

RD-7 is good but far from the best Yonex. I would take anything with a "R" before the RD. The R-10 was one of my favorites - much more manueverable, much better feel, slightly larger head (97 or 98) and much thinner 18.5mm box beam. Better than any racquet on the current market.

Need help! Desperate to find a racquet similar to my Donnay’s!!!

Fat beam is worse than the string pattern.

    Donnay Pro One Oversize

That's not good. I was hoping it would be similar to the LE OS version TW had for a while a couple yrs. back. I really enjoyed the demo and then they were out of stock before I could buy. Rac. won't be as good so light and Donnay will probably butcher the beam and make it too oval with no...

If the BLX PS85 is champagne and caviar, what's the POG Mid - CHOPPED LIVER?

You must play with the old POG mids. The new mids are awful. Cheaper, harsher...I like the grip shape though.

If the BLX PS85 is champagne and caviar, what's the POG Mid - CHOPPED LIVER?

Well, blame Wilson for being too stupid to capitalize on what worked/works to develop "improved" versions for today's "modern game". It only took them nearly 30 years to make a thin, sub-20MM 95 box beam (not counting that 80's dopey 125 sq. inch version). I guarantee they mess it up with...

If the BLX PS85 is champagne and caviar, what's the POG Mid - CHOPPED LIVER?

frozen liver. harshest racquet I've played with...only recent iteration - original, original is probably great.

Yonex Ultimum RD Ti 80 LITE compared to previous Yonex?

I was wondering why no one uses it. I think Yonex has sold 3 of them worldwide.

What Racquet plays like the wilsons Prostaff 95?

I have NEVER played with a tubular racquet that plays better than a box beam. Call me crazy, but I want to put some effort into my shots and know where the balls is going. I hit harder than my peers with my 6.0 85. Plenty of power but not enough space for my blind, old, injured and slower...

What Racquet plays like the wilsons Prostaff 95?

We'll see if they go with the Fed layup or something cheaper.[/QUOTE Quoted that twice for emphasis. This racquet will suck if Wilson decides to go cheaper. Unfortunately, I'm almost certain they will. Such a shame. You would think the HUGE success of the 6.0 85 would tell them something...

The new 2012 Wilson BLX 6.1 range

Great, now we'll see if it has any feel. That will be the issue. Thanks.

The new 2012 Wilson BLX 6.1 range

So, it's confirmed that the 95 is a box 17mm? that would be awesome! Better have some feel. Say no to BLXified.
  25. S

Wilson box beam vs oval beam?

Box beam = more feel, but Wilson may make a blunder and fill them with low grade garbage like blx so the feel will be muted once again. In most cases the box beam will be thinner as well. I think rounded beams = zero feel and don't really understand why cos. make them. It will be interesting...

    Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85

6.0 does everything better than the POG for me. Better feel, swing weight, serves, control, groundstrokes, volleys...I found the POG (newer iterations) way too stiff and jarring.

    No love for Donnay Rackets

Agreed. I played with most of them and bought a Gold 99. Sold it and went back to the 6.0s. I'm done. Weird feel, flex indeed. I feel disconnected with this line...have no idea where the ball is going. Had high hopes as I wanted to transition to something larger than 85...It's going to...

Pro Staff 6.0 85 string suggestions

You're welcome! I know nothing about strings because I don't have to - the 6.0 plays great with any synthetic for < $4.00. Just awesome. Enjoy!

TW Review: Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85

Yes sir, but it wasn't easy - Wilson QC is so terrible it was very tough to find racquets that met my requirements - had same issue when I was trying to find RD001 Yonex frames a few years ago (all much heavier than advertised specs - eventually gave up since rac. sucked anyway). I love the...

TW Review: Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85

Same experience for me during round 1 (12.9 extremely HL but very sluggish due to static weight...felt like the K88). I executed a better strategy in round 2 and requested the "lightest, most HL matched pair not exceeding published SW." Now I have 3 awesome BLX 6.0s, 2 awesome late China 6.0s...
