Wilson Burn FST 95 Review and Pics

Update, I weighted it up to 350g to get the balance that I like and it actually isn't a bad frame. I don't think I'm good enough to switch to it but it's definitely fun to hit with from time to time to feel like you're playing with a "pro spec" when you make good contact. I think the spin is...

Wilson Burn FST 95 Review and Pics

Ok I picked up this frame and just hit with it for the first time...I didn't find it that stiff and it had decent power and spin for a 95. My main gripe with this frame is the balance is a bit too head heavy for me (I'm used to 7-8 pt HL frames strung and this one is around 5.5 pts HL strung)...

Wilson Burn FST 95 Review and Pics

I just picked one of these up, am I crazy or does the headsize look a little bigger than 95?

    8th Gen Yonex Ezone

I have a feeling they're gonna make the 2025 ezone's more flexible (probably 62-63 RA) . Don't know why but just a hunch. Especially since rec players are buying more softer frames due to marketing

EZONE 98 — Two years later

I don't find it sluggish it all, in stock form I find it's too whippy with the low twistweight especially compared to something like a Pure Aero or even Pro Staff 97 V14.

    8th Gen Yonex Ezone

We as rec players are definitely spoiled now! People are using full beds of poly, open string patterns, larger headsizes and still complaining about lack of spin potential. Whatever you gain in spin potential you lose in accuracy/direction as there are tradeoffs to each set-up as someone pointed...

    2021 Yonex VCore 95

It's only 5g heavier than an Ezone 98, Vcore 98, Aero, etc...and all of that 5g is in the handle/throat area which doesn't give it any noticeable extra stability. Also comparing specs between rackets of different head sizes, string patterns and RA's is not helpful in my experience. A 95 doesn't...

    8th Gen Yonex Ezone

Ezone 95 would be great. The market could use a 95 with a thicker beam and 16x19 string pattern. I don't want a mushy vcore.

    8th Gen Yonex Ezone

Yeah I don't understand this request either. Just use a blade if you want 18x20 that badly. Also the string pattern is already dense lol

The DR 98 was a better serving racket IMO and maybe a bit more feel for droppers but I do prefer the ease of the 2022 version.

    8th Gen Yonex Ezone

It's interesting that people are always talking about string spacing but never mention power level when talking about string patterns. A dense pattern frame like an 18x20 regardless if its open or closed has a lower power level than a 16x19. So if a player doesn't like heavy frames they won't...

Do recreational players need to play with polys?

Need to? No...however If you want an even level playing field at 4.5-5.0 you should use some type of poly whether it's a hybrid or full bed. It's like saying to do people NEED to play with 98-100 sq inch rackets? No but playing with a 90 is much harder and I'm sure some people have the talent...

    2023/2024 Yonex Vcore 95 customization

IMO 95's need at minimum ~330 SW and a decent twistweight. Trying to play lighter specs with a 95 doesn't make sense to me since the racket doesn't have much free power. That's partly why I don't understand the Vcore 95 line anymore It's not really playable in stock form to me at 4.5-5.0...

    Burn FST... Awesome!

Anyone still using the FST 95? I'm about to try it for the first time next week. All of the 95's on the market are 16x20 and ultra flexy...I really wanted something that was 16x19 and a bit stiff and this fit the mold.

    Blade vs ezone

Blade 98 is more of an advanced players frame due to the low flex and tighter string pattern. Ezone 98 is a little more user friendly being stiffer with thicker beam but not by a large amount. Without knowing anything about you I'd say the Ezone 98.

Thank you and everyone else for your help. Makes sense. All of my rackets are about 10 SW pts higher than I originally thought because the old iPhone had a messed up calibration. This is actually good because I can remove some lead tape now!
