Yeah, that was fun to watch tonight

    Confession

I think you have to go on a journey: collect a blade of grass from centre Court at Wimbledon, a pinch of dirt from court Philippe-Chatrier, put them in a honey deuce from the US Open, and chug it on Australia Day at the Australian Open

    NCAA college football 24-25

Yeah, that's why I'm now hoping that Indiana gets blown out. Ohio State is their only good team on their schedule, if they get blown out then they should be out. If they keep it close they should definitely stay in though.

    NCAA college football 24-25

Nope, cause it'll likely be an Oregon/Ohio State rematch. Indiana and Ohio State will likely both have one loss, but Ohio State would have the head to head. If Tennessee wins tonight, I'll be happy if Indiana can win or keep it close, but if Tennessee loses, I'll kinda want Indiana out of the...

    NCAA college football 24-25

I think it's fun to see. Indiana hasn't played anybody, but they've still been looking strong. It'll be interesting to see what happens if they lose though with no signature wins. I think if it's a close game, they should stay in the playoffs, but if they get blown out? They might miss it with...

    New Racquet Categories for 2024

Thank the engineers, blame the marketing team. They started out as genuine measures of power. But then the marketing team saw the numbers and decided that racquet C needs to be marketed at a certain number between racquets B and D, even though that's not what the test results say about racquet...

    Better than Luxilon 4g

Last I used it was 42 I think.

    Better than Luxilon 4g

Yeah, 4G is still the best of the best in that category: poly, playability, and control. 4G soft and rough are also fantastic. Closest thing to it that I've tried is Kirschbaum Max Power. Max Power is basically a budget 4G; it's similar, but does everything slightly worse at a better price...

Let's see how they adjust. They have looked great all season but this is definitely their biggest test yet. Even if this continues I'd still probably have them #2 in the SEC. Extra thankful my Vols pulled it out though looking at that Georgia D-line tonight. It could be ugly when we go to...

    NCAA college football 24-25

I can't believe that my Vols both beat Bama AND went scoreless in the first half for the 3rd straight game. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have been surprised if either of those things happened, I'm just shocked that BOTH happened. GBO!

    Yonex Percept 100D

Yeah, I'm not pushing 50 but I am older/slower than I used to be and I play maybe once a week, so I needed a little more help as well, particularly on serve return. A little extra weight and this racquet was exactly what I needed.

    Yonex Percept 100D

That's not exactly what I was looking for when I switched, but I like that considering I still have my old k factor six.One 95, haha.

Racquet Journey, what are the last 5 or so frames you’ve played with?

I have since changed to the Yonex Precept 100D

    Yonex Percept 100D

I have no idea how widespread/common the cracking issue really is. But I still love mine and haven't had any issues, so yes, I would still recommend it.

What is the most critical aspect that makes the ball go in on the serve?

I think I'd have to go with the toss. If you don't have a good, consistent toss, you are always going to struggle with consistency... unless you're the player who has to toss it 2-3 times per serve and only swings when they get a good toss. But nobody wants to be that person or play with that...

Luxilon natural gut. Good, bad? Opinions?

Interesting. I haven't bought any recently, but that's disappointing to me. I liked how the Luxilon gut felt and played different than Wilson or Babolat gut. I never thought it was sticky though, that's interesting. If it's truly different, I'll need to try it out. Previously, my observation...

Anybody Still use Pro Staff 85?

I still break out my 85 sometimes, almost always have it in my bag with me. Still feels great to hit with, I don't have another racquet like it.

    Racquet Manufacturer vs Distributor

Yeah, that's the interesting part, haha

    Racquet Manufacturer vs Distributor

Wilson also doesn't use RA as their stiffness measure, so I wouldn't be surprised to see faster variance among their racquets. They always have used a different measure, but especially when the Clash was originally released, they tried to talk about how they use a "better" measure of racquet...

What's the longest you've used a single model as a main frame?

Never quite made it to the 5 year mark, but I've definitely gone past 2, haha.

    RF01 Pro - No grip 5

Seems like a great idea if you want to be exact and minimize added weight. I like the added weight though, and with the leather grip, I still have plenty of bevel feel with heat sleeves or duct tape. And it takes less time, which is valuable for me in my current stage of life, haha.
  23. P

    RF01 Pro - No grip 5

I honestly couldn't tell you. I usually customize my racquets mainly on feel. I know I want it very head light, so adding that (or a heat sleeve) and a leather grip is usually about perfect, along with a little counterweight.

    String Measurement vs. String pattern....

Here's how I do it: I consider an average racquet to be 27" long with a 16x19 pattern. I also string with poly strings the majority of the time, so that's what I'll be using for my initial process. For an average racquet, I know I have enough string if I measure off 8.5 racquet lengths for the...

    RF01 Pro - No grip 5

Yeah, it's unfortunate that grip 5's continue to be harder to find. Luckily I enjoy customizing and headlight balances in general, so I usually just buy the grip 4, then add either a heat shrink sleeve or 2 layers of duct tape, followed by a leather grip. The RF 01 Pro is already pretty hefty...

    NCAA college football 24-25

Yeah, it's going to make the rest of the season VERY interesting. Tennessee will have to beat either Alabama or Georgia now, when they probably would've made the playoffs just by playing decent games but losing to both previously. Alabama still has it's Georgia win so they're still likely to go...

    Best Tennis Ball Brand

Our USTA district definitely doesn't provide balls. Our city's tennis association will, but only if everyone on your team is a member, which has not been my experience thus far.
  28. P

    NCAA college football 24-25

Even more to get 4 SEC teams in the playoffs. The way it's going, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee all have good chances to make it. If it's a blowout, it makes it harder for Georgia to get in unless they win out, which is far from guaranteed. And a loss to Georgia by Tennessee would mean...

    RIP USPTA

I hope padel spreads, it looks like a lot of fun. Nothing will ever replace tennis for me, but I enjoy playing just about anything with a racquet/paddle. Tennis is the only one I take seriously. Pickleball I view as more of a game; fun to play socially and with non-tennis players, but nothing...
