    Ezone 105

I have limited but positive experience with the 105. A friend of mine, age about 60 and a solid life-long player, bought a couple of 105's after extensive demos. He is in love with it....and let me hit a few balls with it about a month ago. I tend to play with heavier frames and, as I age, am...

    Pure Aero 98 or 100

PA100 is quite forgiving and easy to handle. If you’re considering the PA100 and PA98 you should perhaps consider demoing the Pure Strike 98 16x19 and the PS100 as well. Thinnish beam. Same power and swingweight when comparing (Strike and PA) 100 vs 98 models. IMO the PA98 hits w more spin than...

    Pure Strike 98 vs Blade 98 16 x 19

If comparing the current Blade 98 16x19 with current Strike 98 16x19 in stock form......spin is close but a nod to the strike. The Strike 98 also has a fair bit more raw power and can provide easier depth on defense. I feel like I can hit my way out of situations a bit easier with the (new)...

    Patrick Kypson suspension

Interesting. He played in my son’s section and I watched him a good bit…he was always pretty low key and well-behaved. The college incident was a pity, hate a lot of that kind of college behavior. Not making any excuses for him on that, it was pretty awful, but Im sure the environment...

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

Here is my review of the Babolat Pure Strike 98 16x19. String and tension used for test: I initially strung this at 50 lbs. with Solinco Hyper-G 18, which is my normal string. I later strung it with Tourna BHB17. I liked both equally with a perhaps a slight bias towards Hyper-G. I didn’t find...

    Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike 2024 (98 16x19 and 100 16x20)

I’ve played with mine briefly and, on balance, my initial thoughts would echo @nyc’s. Although I haven’t weighed it the racquet (strung) is not near 330 SW and feels mid 320’s, maybe lower. I do use thin gauge strings which contributes but it feels more maneuverable than Gen 3. This version...

    New Solinco Racquets

@Pekoms If you have always played 16x19 I would stick w that. You can always mess w tension to find the control. Like you, I’ve read some think the 18x20 plays close to a 16x19. Im not sure how that’s possible tbh. I did not test 18x20 myself.

    New Solinco Racquets

IMO the WO should get you similar overall performance but better feel and comfort. I played w both extensively. I found the VS to be pretty controlled w16x20 but firm outside the sweet spot. WO was a very good all rounder. Good spin and power, no real shortcomings. Some have said it was a bit...

    Wilson pro staff v13 alternative

The TF 315 ISO is worth trying as a modern PS97 alternative. It will have similar heavy + headlight feeling and will provide a small boost in power. Beam width is wider but should be fairly easy adjustment.

What age did you change to a lighter and/or larger sized racquet?

I’m now using the 2020 Yonex Ezone 98 with some lead at 10/2, I came from the Blade Pro V7 which was awesome but harder to swing - especially in the low country heat at my age.

What age did you change to a lighter and/or larger sized racquet?

Lighter beer would be better for my tennis than a lighter racquet. But I enjoy an IPA. I’ve always played with thin-beam, heavy frames and prefer them, but at 58 I’ve been tinkering and lighter does have advantages…especially at net. But I end up missing the penetration and heaviness from the...

    Replacing my Wilson Blades v5

Tough to replace those, all specs considered. But IMO the Solinco Whiteout gets you closer than any recent blade and is worth a try. But I can’t speak for all brands, every manufacturer has their “blade equivalent”.

Babolat Pure Drive 98 Official Thread

Having hit with it I can’t see it approaching 63 RA. Feels like 70. Played well, felt good in hand, power when you ask for it…but it was very firm to me. But I would concede the demo was strung too tightly.

Wilson Pro Staff X V14 Thread

To me this racquet could be a big hit as its ease of use addresses a big segment of players. A lot of guys/gals might love this who have used thin beams all their life like Pro Staffs, POGs, Pure Controls, Prestige’s or even the Ezone Tour/330 crowd…if the Pro Staff 97 guys would try it they...

First Impressions of Pure Aero 98

I play with the PAVS and like it. The new Aero 98 is more comfortable and a bit more solid, but I think you could get nearly the same results with good modifications to a PAVS. Both whiteouts are fabulous and the XTD is really something. Longer but headlight, it’s fantastic off the ground. It...

    New Solinco Racquets

I have been in touch w them. While they are responsive, I have not been able to get a racquet delivered yet. They have to “check inventory” which seems perpetually out of stock. Manufacturing/delivery delays probably contribute. To date no answers in response to questions about general...

    New racquet - Blade 2021 v6

You cannot really go wrong with the Blade in any version. It’s a solid racquet with excellent overall utility that will serve you well now and as you develop. It won’t be quite as easy to use as your previous frames but it’s not difficult. Heck, if you can sell them for a profit if you don’t...

    Tennis Warehouse: Yonex VCORE 95, 98, 100 2021 Playtest

diegoeste, I really like the TF 300 RS and to me it offers great feel + better feel than the VC98 2020. Its what a Blade or Strike should feel like. To me the TF was slightly underpowered in stock form and I modified it with weight in various places. I liked it at 10+2 the best, closely...

    Tennis Warehouse: Yonex VCORE 95, 98, 100 2021 Playtest

My review of the new Vcore 98. String and tension used for test: I initially strung this at 52 lbs. with the 16G Yonex Poly Tour Rev that was provided. I later strung it with Tourna BHB17 and a synthetic 17G cross at 53 lbs. I liked the YPTR and plan to try it in a thinner gauge. Tennis...

    Prince phantom 107G

Played with the POG for nearly 25 years. College etc. I have the new one and have hit with it 2-3 times. The new 107g is lighter so it’s not a POG - it’s not right to expect it to have the weight of shot or heaviness of ball you’d expect from a POG. But it’s very sweet. Feels great. Very...

    Clemson Tiger tennis

Two surprising wins congrats. I'm very surprised they beat Ga State, that's a good team. No dog in this hunt but I must say in fairness my observations have been - The GSU player you spoke about is very emotional and a bit loud and in your face for my tastes (the whole GS team is a too loud and...

college life in Oxford & Starkville for athletes

Oxford is a far better college town, but both are good tennis programs. This may be for another thread but ...what is not always understood by rising freshman is (as a D1 player) your activities on and off court are basically with the tennis team. You will do track in the AM, go to school, then...

Stability of Head Prestige Pro but with more power and lower SW

The Graphene XT PPro seems to fit that bill, modern and reasonably powerful (relative) although it can swing heavy versus some versions for some folks. Did you not like that version? Interested in replies to this thread.

Who are candidates for the Louisville position?

No idea who gets the job but to do this in mid-August is weird. If this is their decision it should have been made a while ago since the kids are back now. Louisville is a good job and they have decent facilities but its a long way up in the ACC. In addition to chasing UVa-UNC-Wake, Clemson has...

Head Prestige Tour 300 midplus 660

Fantastic racket, very stable and solid. I don't think it was one-dimensional because it just did everything well and had great feel. The issue was when they moved to the suspension grips the grip kinda broke down over time and they developed a squeak. There was no need for the suspension grip...

Has Spin Obsession Caused Tennis to Regress???

Good thread. Also worth noting in addition to string technology - or maybe because of it- that at all the academies and tennis symposiums over the past several years the magic word was “shape”. They’re quite focused on putting shape on the ball. Producing a lot of spinny rallying and such but to...

Thanks to TW and Babolat for the opportunity to participate in this test – it’s been a pleasant experience and enjoyable test. String and tension used for the Pure Drive VS test: Strung it first with Alu Power 16L then with Tourna Black Zone 17 both around 50/51 lbs. Later tried a hybrid of...
