    Meet the Wimbledon stringers

My time at Wimbledon is done. I posted some photos: www.facebook.com/JamiesProStringing

    Meet the Wimbledon stringers

    1. I rarely use it. 2. It wasn't necessary on this racket.

Stringing instructions for Snauwaert Graphite La Grande

I have a Snauwaert Fibre Composite La Grande. Looks very similar to the one you have to string. I guess it could be the same pattern. I can only assume that mine is strung correctly. It is done in an 18x19 pattern. For the mains, there are no skipped holes at the top, and the 9th hole is...

What kind of fragile strings does Dimitrov use?

I'd argue that we've both seen worse. I'm thinking of someone we've both had the misfortune of working with on several occasions...

What do we make of this story?

As Paul mentioned I have emailed the lead author of the study, explaining my point as both an exercise physiologist and racket stringer. I have yet to have a reply. Obviously lowering tension is something we all know is better for the arm and is something we would recommend to players with arm...

New Babolat PJ for Jack Sock

That is, without a doubt, one of the worst looking rackets I have ever laid eyes on.

Thar paintjob looks similar to Adidas' ill-fated attempts from a few years ago.

    Babolat Modular Stringing Machine

I'm not a fan of the USB. It wasn't something I was interested in having when asked about features back in 2011. I think it's an unnecessary technological addition and an extra thing that can go wrong.

Do pros pre-stretch their poly strings?

1 2 3 There you go. Had it confirmed by 3 independent tour stringers. If you want even more tour stringers to confirm this, I'm sure uk_skippy will also back me up.

Do pros pre-stretch their poly strings?

Someone sensible on this board. Good (and rare) to see :) Unless there has been an absolutely seismic shift since last year, then I am right. All your maths is just hypothetical. In all of the tournaments I have strung, only a handful of players have pre-stretched poly. There is no way that...

Do pros pre-stretch their poly strings?

    Those are two separate statements.

Do pros pre-stretch their poly strings?

He didn't say that 50% pre-stretch their poly. If you take the players who use gut, then it probably is 50%. When it comes to polyester it would probably be less than 10%.

    Nishikori string - gut mains?

He changes all the time. I've strung for him at tournaments where he practically changes back and forth every day!

    Stringing speed

Instead of trying to be quick, focus on being smooth and fluent, and minimising any extraneous movements.

    Bad practice?

This guy strikes me as someone who would go "up the alley".

    Bad practice?

Seeing a tournament stringer work like that annoys me. Having a video published online of his poor practice annoys me even more.

Stringing thin polys at high tensions?

I would wrap the string around the diablo twice when pulling tension. From my experience, the Star 5 can have problems with some polys snapping on the machine on the mains. Since I have started wrapping twice around the diablo I have had no issues.

What do you drink while stringing?

When I'm at a tournament I have a constant supply of tea.

Ryan Harrison...please pick a racket and focus!

I strung for him at Wimbledon qualifying and he was not using a Pure Strike. He was using a Pure Drive.

    Stringing Techniques

Many more players are now requesting 2 piece stringing at tournaments. Not that stringing an ATW pattern is that diffcult, but doing 2 piece makes things a little easier. It's pretty much standard practice to do at least one cross off the short side before tieing off when doing a one piece...
