4.5 Slicer will harvest your 3.5 topspin soul

I didn't watch the whole thing but the "baseliner" only seemed to be winning points when he came to the net. Credit to the slicer for running around like a jack rabbit. My knees would be jello if I tried that for a set on hard courts.

What Happens To Discontinued Racquet Stock?

The only deep discounts I've seen in Aus is at new model time, eg Blade V8s were down to $200 when the V9 was released and then down to about $150 for a short while before selling out quickly. The lowest prices are usually only when L4s are left. Doesn't happen for all models though, I was...

Does anyone else practice this regularly?

After falling and breaking my wrist going backwards for an overhead I've lost a degree of confidence in this shot and in doubles will call out "you!" a lot more than I probably should. This thread has motivated me to start working on my OH with wall drills.

Play tests for a forgiving player’s-ish racket/ help me choose

I was exclusively using Blade 100 V8 till I tried a Shift 99 300, lots more pop and spin and surprisingly comfortable when weighted up to about 320. I still like the Blade and use it when results are not important but always go back to the Shift in fixture matches due to its increased to...

    What is the correct call?

I don't think so, that's not in any rules AFAIK and a lot of times if its very close to the line you'll be fully committed to playing a normal stroke plus in doubles you may not get an out call till after impact anyway.

Head Extreme Tour - what swing weight have I ended up with...?

New Head ETs from Tennis Only were all prestrung with Head Lynx 17g unless they're recycled ex demos. Its not a bad string, quite soft for a poly but it does lose tension quickly.

    2024 Shanghai Open ATP Master's 1000 QF - [1] Jannik Sinner (ITA) v/s [5] Daniil Medvedev (RUS)

Meddy looked far from 100%. A few forehands on the highlights looked like they were hit at 50%. He seemed to have no answer to Sinner going back behind him time and time again, not something you'd expect at all

Okay, this Tiafoe fiasco, what do we make of it?

I'd let him skate on this one but have him publicly flogged for trying to decapitate Roger at a friendly exo.

Head Boom Pro 2024 - Comparison with other brands

Same here, I expected to like the ezone as I was coming from a heavy low powered thin beam frame but found it harsh and lacking in feel. Boom pro felt great by comparison and Extreme Tour was pretty similar to Boom Pro. Outside of Head's offerings Wilson Shift 300 is worth a demo, similar power...

Will they sell the Baiardo machines from the stringing room after the U.S. Open is over?

How many frames would each machine have strung by end of tournament?

    Will a floating clamp work?

OT but pink tape is a lot denser and stronger than white if you go the mcgyver route.

    Will a floating clamp work?

Have you tried Tennis Warehouse in Melbourne? They're pretty good with spare parts for different machines? You could probably just overwrap it with several (lots!) of turns of plumber's teflon tape if it's not too worn. Not a permanent solution by any means but if you're only stringing...

    Reducing grip size clarification question

Were you using a sanding block or some sort of firm backing? Id recommend spraying the handle with a rattle can before sanding to keep track of high or low spots.

    Babolat Green Machine

This has been for sale for a while at a reasonable price, but too far away and a non supported electronic tension head too risky for me. I'm assuming I could mount a wise or replace the crank if needed?

    Babolat Green Machine

OK, that makes sense extreme sports machines come up for sale fairly regularly here in Aus. There was a Babolat sticker visible in another photo that tricked me!

    Babolat Green Machine

Does anybody know what model and vintage this machine is?. It looks fairly old so would parts still be available? Anything else to look out for apart from missing top half of support brackets?

Checking total pull count on Wise and Gamma ELS

Thanks Wes, very helpful, I believe you've told me about the Gamma before but I couldn't find the reference. Unfortunately I missed out on the stringer with the Wise.

Checking total pull count on Wise and Gamma ELS

Looking at a 2nd hand stringer with Wise tension head. Does the Wise keep track of total pulls or racquets since new? Can this be seen in a service menu and if so is it something that could be reset by the user? Similar question for Gamma ELS which is also on the radar!

Which racket is more arm friendly? (Vcore pro vs Blade)

The Blade is softer. There are some incorrect RA specs published listing it as 68 but the correct figure is about 62. Don't be concerned about the weight, weight = stability and the V8 Blade 100 plays better and is easier on your arm with an extra 20g minimum in the usual spots, ie silicone in...

    RAB Stringmaster machine Failure

On my Gamma X-2 with a very similar setup there is a narrow strip of abrasive on the lower clamping surface. TBH I had a problem years ago and cant recall if it was like this from factory or something I added! but either way it works fine with no slippage and no visible scuffing of strings Not...

Strings A Stringer Must Have In Stock?

I've heard a few times that older players don't have enough RHS to justify using poly but that's not been my experience. I'm closer to 70 than 60 and doubt I'd win a set off a good 3.5 but my stroke foundations are reasonable and I can swing out with full poly and trouble my opponents in ways I...

Best Wilson racquet for an intermediate player?

Blade 100 for flatter hitters. Shift 99 300 for spin aficionados. I use blade 100 when conditions are damp and balls get heavy but generally have more fun with the Shift.
