I think Tsitsipas and Schwatzmann both did Nadal huge favours, the latter by taking out Thiem and then capitulating pretty much in the SF and the former by taking Novak to 5 sets. Also the fact that Novak couldn't capitalize on match point in set 3, eerily reminiscent of his opponent in the US...

As recently as 2011, eh? Kvitova was the young star of those 3- the first person born in the 90's to win a GS title (still waiting for one on the men's side)- despite her second Wimby win, really hasn't lived up. Of course that burglar incident didn't help.
