Looking for the perfect hybrid reverse

True. In the end, there's nothing like X-One.

Looking for the perfect hybrid reverse

Consider I'm not a string breaker at all. It's more a matter of playability, in other word how long multi keeps its elasticity without becoming a missile launcher (X-One for example in my experience lasts 5-6 hours and then you can't control your shots anymore even with a poly crossed).

Looking for the perfect hybrid reverse

I just don't like the feel and touch of a poly setup, even with the softer ones as a mains in a hybrid poly/poly combo. Multis (let alone gut) are superior anyway in that department, at least for me.

Looking for the perfect hybrid reverse

Would you add 4g soft to the list? And besides Velocity, that I find 'dead' as a multi, and PPC, do you suggest some alternative?

Hybrid setup poly with multifilament recommendation

    Even in reverse?

Hybrid setup poly with multifilament recommendation

I'm with you, that's why I was thinking about a very sof co-poly like Isospeed Cream, very similar to multi but with a bit of stiffness compared to multi... So, you could agree on this? Have you also compared X-One to NRG2 as a main?

Hybrid setup poly with multifilament recommendation

I can imagine, but I'm usually looking for a poly to counterpower the multi in the mains, so the hypothesis of a soft poly to accomplish this task: it should be better than another multi, altough low-powered, shouldn't it?

Hybrid setup poly with multifilament recommendation

I was thinking, loving X-One and considering it by far the best multi available in the market: is snapback really important when your only concern could be to tame power with some added control provided by poly in crosses? So, in this perspective, what about combining it with some soft poly like...

Looking for the perfect hybrid reverse

I see your point, but generally an hybrid reverse on frames like those I mentioned is set to gain some power and comfort without giving up control: the best of the two worlds, as they say, problem is that it is not so easy, because the gain comes often with setback – reduced durability of...

Looking for the perfect hybrid reverse

Everybody knows the perfect combo wants natural gut, but since its cost, multifilaments are usually the way to go. But how do you obtain durabilyty and playability, especially for a classic-like frame (ProStaff, Blade, Prestige, ProKennex BAP, ...): do you go for a great, traditional multi like...

    Babolat Xalt?

Reopening this thread to check updates, if any. How Xalt (1,30) performs, specially in an hybrid reverse combo? Comparing it to premium multi from Tecnifibre (X-One, Nrg2), does it offers enough power and durability in the mains coupled with a round poly in the crosses?

    Tecnifibre Triax 16 -- a long-range review

Good to know, especially willing to keep It simple and considering that every hybrid reverse combo I've tried became unpredictable after 6 hours of playing. Hope that a full bed like that keeps its consistency longer, since BAP is so soft with strings and I'm not a string breaker at all.

    Tecnifibre Triax 16 -- a long-range review

Anyway, more resembling multi than poly in the end? In any case, even when you combine a poly in the crosses you alter the feel of the multi (I use X-One, usually).

    Tecnifibre Triax 16 -- a long-range review

Is a full bed Triax, as other similar 'new' string concepts such RPM Soft and Xalt, a suitable solution for frames like ProKennex Black Ace Pro, instead of multi mains/soft poly crosses solution?

What Happened to the PK Black Ace Pro 97?

They are: that's why I go looking for little manufacturer with a good mix of quality and price. The only strings really uncomparable, at least among the ones I played with, are Tecnifibre X-One (maybe NRG2 also) and Luxilon 4g Soft: the only ones worth the price really.

What Happened to the PK Black Ace Pro 97?

HI Highstring Elastic is very very similar to RPM Soft, but 1/3 the price... Slightly moving also, but it plays well with a medium stiff round mono in crosses. Just lack a bit of touch that X-One gave me (as well it would give natural gut for sure).

I wish I could, you can not find it in Europe and Italy

What Happened to the PK Black Ace Pro 97?

Coming me too from the old school, I've tried it in the past but playing 2/3 times a week money is an issue, especially in the autumn and winter seasons humidity eat it pretty pretty soon...

How long does it last on BAP? I'm specially concerned in winter for using it...

What Happened to the PK Black Ace Pro 97?

I've been using 4g soft in hybrid reverse combo with X-One but durability was poor because of X-One behaviour. Anyway, I think reverse hybrid is the best solution for this great racquet and I'm now playing with a combo of two Highstring strings, Elastic and Goldgrey.

Thanks for your suggestion! Actually, It was not about hitting the back fence, but finding a durable, consistent, durable setup before the string would become unpredictable... Still have them, but currently I found my nirvana with ProKennex Black Ace Pro (heavy customized).

I agree about TC100. Me too, I've struggled with many strings configuration without never finding a consistent setup.

    Speed Solution FF3

I feel you: after experiencing the lightness of Solution Speed, it's impossibile to get back... Still, and overall, I think Speed FF2 was a better shoe, even if I'm growing accustomed to FF3.

    Speed Solution FF3

I agree that FF3 are more comfortable than FF2, the upper is lighter and has more room. Still, after a couple of months of using them (on clay), I still can't say if I like them or not. If they were a racket, I'd say they are inconsistent: given that lightness and speed are top level (and that's...

    Speed Solution FF3

I've been playing with new version (clay outsole) for a while now and I think these shoes are disapponting, at least for me. It seems they trade too much stability for too much lightness. Speed FF2 where a very better compromise.

    Speed Solution FF3

BTW, it is striking that no pro, incuding De Minaur as first, seems to appreciate this update: after 3 months since speed ff3 it is on the market, all of them keep on wearing the ff2

I've strung my V3 TC100 (310gr, 315mm, 63RA) with Luxilon 4g in the main and Yonex Tour 850 pro in the crosses and it's a pretty working setup: great control for a powered frame with the stiffness of 4g softened by the multi string. Inviato dal mio MHA-L29 utilizzando Tapatalk

I'm with you about 4g stiffness but still love his consistency, plus it is very hard hitting long shots with it (and with TC100)! I think I will try it with a multi on crosses to find out if it is possible gaining some bit of softness and power without losing control.

Hello everyone, I have just joined the club with a couple of V3 TC100, 310gr/315mm, 63RA. Paul was very kind in guiding me before I ordered. After 4 years of Head Graphene Speed MP, I fell immediately in love with the Angell: love the feel, the maneuverability, the extra power on serve. The real...
