Elbow popped - new racquet in future

Well, the reason I want to research this a bit is that here where I live it is really awkward to demo racquets. You basically have to buy the racquet and then return or exchange if the "Demo" doesn't really work out. When I first started playing tennis years ago, I used both Head and the Prince...

Elbow popped - new racquet in future

Thanks so much for the recommendations Tennease and Mike. It’s brilliant to know that you can hit well at 68. I have a good friend here who is hitting away and he‘s 78. I will definitely change my racquet. I just need to get the balance right though as I had shoulder injury before this in the...

Elbow popped - new racquet in future

Just a quick update for anyone who might have had the same injury. So it is a partial tear of proximal insertion of the Ulnar Collateral Ligament. The Consultant said to rest for two more weeks (it’s been 4 already and then to do physio). Has anyone else had this? If so, how long did it take to...

Elbow popped - new racquet in future

Hi Systemic Anomaly- sorry for taking so long to answer, just swamped with work at the moment. I had a shoulder débridement in 2014 and just before that I had a coach work with me right handed. I was hitting quite well but with my current hitting partner the ball is just so fast I can’t see...

Hey pennc94 that is a really really long time. Why couldn’t you go back sooner? Did you have loads of physio & rehab?

Elbow popped - new racquet in future

So, it's been ages since I've been on TW talk - last time was when I had shoulder decompression which worked a treat and I found everybody's comments really useful. Quick profile- I'm a female club player in Europe, itn number 6,I play singles and doubles, and try to play 2-3 times a week. I was...

Hey, I did try playing right handed after shoulder surgery to no avail! Prefer my leftyness!

    Used to be a snob...

I really appreciate everybody’s responses! Love the “move”! Sorry- not so easy being an ex-pat living here for 20 plus years. Anyways, I suppose as a result of having been a snob, I did feel I was indispensable. Many of you are right in saying that nobody would even remember. Isn’t that what...

    Used to be a snob...

So, I have taken about a year break from competitive tennis. I am 4.0 level. I belong to a very small town club and have known and beaten nearly everybody in the club. Problem is when I started, I was coached by an excellent coach with a very exclusive and snobbish attitude. Ok, I admit it, I...

    Well, I Decided To Play

Actually Cindy, to put it all in perspective, I have totally taken a step back from competitive tennis this season. I made it up to ITN6 playing in a really small place. But I was playing lots of really competitive people and leagues and trying to win because essentially I was doing nothing...

    Sorry-it's mixed doubles issues again!

That is a good observation. He is a nice guy, I played with him a couple times and he actually carried my tennis bag for me. His partner is a girl who is very competitive, an average steady hitter, but not so nice. She would love for him to target me but more than likely he won't go that low!

    Sorry-it's mixed doubles issues again!

I am just looking for a bit of advice. I'm in Europe and my itn is 6 which must make me about 3.5. I am female, approx 5'4, 120 pounds and 49! My shots are strong and I regularly play singles and mixed doubles. I am just starting a tournament and realise I will be up against a powerhouse of a...

    Sacroiliac Pain

I am just looking for anyone who has had this problem, and wondering how long it took to get back to tennis. I lunged for a ball to my forehand last November and didn't feel any pain at first. The next few days the back of my leg seized up and was really painful from the sit bones on my...

    Most comfortable racquets?

I had shoulder surgery in 2012 and when I came back to tennis I started using the Wilson blx five because I had used the triad racquets before. I am still using it and it is really comfortable. I have borrowed my son's Babolat and it is like hitting the ball with a plank of wood in comparison...

Mental Attitude- How to keep going?

That is so what I needed- Thanks everybody! Thank you all for your replies. They are perfect, and really just what I needed to pick me up and show me reasons to keep at it! Much appreciated! I will definitely not send my skirts away to the recycling bin and on a more serious note, remember that...

Mental Attitude- How to keep going?

I am roughly a 4.0 player playing a small city league in Europe. This time last year, I played roughly 8 tournament events, won two and played the final in a third event. By the time August came round, exhaustion, mental and physical, had set in. I suffered from vertigo, and fainted from...

    Torn Hip Labrum

Irish dancer/Tennis player One of my regular opponents who happens to be an Irish dancer and dance teacher was diagnosed via MRI (with the dye injection) with a small tear in right labrum. She tried conservative treatment and it didn't work so she had surgery to repair it. She followed up...

    Labrum Repair surgery

Hi all, (really interesting to see your comments again Say Chi). I am nearly at the 2 year mark post subacromial decompression and I have to say two things: I don't think it is a matter of having your shoulder fixed or not fixed. I think it is an inherently unstable joint that needs constant...

    Bossy negative partner

End of my story! So here we were first set at 4-4 30 all, opponent hits drop shot. I am concentrating, on my way right up to it and she shouts "come on, come up". I swear, I froze in my tracks. All downhill from there. Advice "rally, rally rally". Next game "don't rally, just go for it"...

    Bossy negative partner

Hey Moonbat, I think you suggestion is probably the most helpful to get me through Sunday. To try and control my reaction to her. It is not that I am using her as an excuse for losing as RetroSpin suggested, it is more that the direct result of her non-stop talking and contradictory advice...

    Bossy negative partner

That would be great LeeD, you've got a deal! Skiracer- I am married to my husband who definitely isn't my tennis partner! Seriously though, if she wrecks my concentration this weekend I will ask for a divorce! ( Well, I won't play any more doubles with her)...

    Bossy negative partner

LeeD- miss the first 3 balls- that is a stroke of pure genius. I will do! And, yes, beernutz, I will try and tell her that when she does that, it totally makes me hit the ball into the net and see what she says. She was counting on me to play the summer tournaments with her, and I was...

I am a ITN 6 player in Europe and I have a quarter final county league match. It is really important to our team and we have to play a ladies doubles and a mixed doubles. After an injury two years ago, I am well rehabbed and even went up a grade here where I play. I am playing well at the...
