whats wrong with the top players?

The problem is the tennis season is too taxing. They have already played tennis for 2 months! The ATP should really consider shortening the season, maybe take out the Australian Open, so that the players are not injured by the end of Feb.

Would swimming help your conditioning for tennis?

I agree. I used to swim laps very often. Sure, it was good for my overall health, but it doesn't translate well on land. When I was in good swimming shape, I was not necessarily in good running shape. However, I felt that swimming does strengthen the upper body, which can possibly prevent...

Public Clay in Richmond Hill/Markham/Toronto Area?

Hi, I am visiting the Richmond Hill area for a few days and was wondering if there were any public clay courts around? If not, any club where they do not require membership? Thanks

For Stringers: Starting Crosses without Starting Knot or Clamp?

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to start the crosses in 2-piece stringing without the use of a starting knot or a starting clamp? At my disposal, I have 2 flying clamps, is it possible to use these clamps to start the cross so I can just tie a Parnell at the end? I probably will...

    Restringing

The story doesn't really add up. You said you have been using strings for a year from, I presume, a pre-strung racquet (Prince crvc TI?, I am not familiar with it). From my experience, manufacturer strung strings lasted me about 4 days before they broke. If your racquet didn't break for a...

Forehand Contact Point on the Rise

Thank you for all the responses. It seems the footwork is my first concern that needs to be corrected in order to get better positioning on the court. I often hug the baseline when rallying, and it is easy to be spoiled by balls hit directly to my strikezone and in rhythm. In a match, it...

Forehand Contact Point on the Rise

Hi, I have noticed from watching good tennis players that they almost always hit the ball in their strike zones (out in front and waist-chest high). To accomplish this, they hit the ball on the rise for many points, before the ball reaches its apex on the bounce. I have recently noticed a...

    Are you a Rally King?

If I could go back to my HS days, this is what I would have changed. I was rallyking/chokemaster. I could hit pretty well (aesthetically), but in a match, I sucked. Everything went long and wrong. And I had no match confidence whatsoever. Everyday people would ask when I hit nicely in practice...

    POLYSPIN or SPINFIRE? reels

I've never used Polyspin, but I use a spinfire reel and its a pretty good deal. The strings are not bad to me and worth it for the price. I am not an expert though, just giving my insight.

    Coria Practicing

I don't know if Coria can ever play the same. He has lost 2 challengers in a row first round this week and last week. I think the match this week he lost 0-6,6-4,0-6, which is pretty crazy. I think his problem is purely mental; it doesn't seem like he wants to play...

    Coria is done. (pretty sure)

Coria did try to clear his name by going to court and he was able to prove that his supplements were contaminated. I think the guy's got bad luck. The lawsuit however gave him a hefty amount. That could be an incentive to retire from tennis for good. but it all depends on if he wants to try...

String jobs breaking around the frame

I think he meant any deformations like twisting and bending the string inadvertently which weakens the string. Maybe check to make sure your clamps are not too tight? Are they leaving marks on the string? Is breaking near a tie-off knot or on a main serving as an anchor?

    Are my strings dead?

I hope that you did not go to a general sporting goods store to have your racquet restrung. They generally do not do a good job (personal experience). I broke a set within the first week after a string job. Im afraid that your self-rating is based on the fact that the amount of proficient...

    Self-stringing and breaking strings

    Self-stringing and breaking strings

Hi, What are some potential reasons why my self-strung strings break faster than strings strung at the local tennis shop? I have never had my own racquet restrung by my local tennis shop, but I have played with poly/hybrid demo racquets and my friend's racquet, all of which have been...
