    UTR Flex League Match Blog

From what I’ve heard and seen (YouTube matches) there isn’t a lot of cross gender play. The women are overrated relative to the men. Usually about a 1-1.5 utr gap. A 7 utr man would be competitive with a 8.5 woman

    I can't believe I lost this match...

Obviously we all want to win but your focus should be on improvement, not winning.

    I can't believe I lost this match...

"Desperate not to hit long." You have decenttechnique. If you are focused on not missing you are going to get tight and miss. Focus on the process, not the result. The good thing is if you clean up the errors on the volleys and approach shot, you win this match with a double bagel.

How to transfer your best Service skills from training into the match (for 15yo)

Sounds like he is terrified of missing and slows down. Very common. He needs to loosen up and play without the fear of missing.

    I can't believe I lost this match...

You hit down the middle directly to him far too often. When you have a "sitter" in the middle, hit to a corner. The court is actually longer that way so you have more court to hit safely into! Aggressively attack the net, hit drop shots. There's a lot of things you can do to beat this kind of...

Does Prime McEnroe with 1984 racquet/strings win the NCAAs in 2022?

My friends and dad all said prime mac wouldn't win 2022 NCAAs but prime Sampras would, prime Courier, they were split on. Prime Agassi, yes.

    GSG Fan Page

Love the fighting spirit. I love that when I send his videos to my tennis friends their heads explode. "He's a 3.5\4.0 at best!" "But he's not really a 4.5 USTA/7UTR <insert whatever ranking>" "In my region/area he'd be one level lower." "I'd definitely beat him! (no, you wouldn't).

    Alternatives to RPM Blast

Unfortunately that is the downside of poly. They lose tension fast. Pros switch out their strings after every practice session and in a match every time they change balls! If you want a discount version of RPM blast, I'd recommend Volkl Cyclone.

Recent 4.0 match against a slicer

A lot of things I noticed. Your opponent from the previous week is a much stronger player. This opponent had very good hands and hand-eye coordination but his movement was the weakest part of his game. You need to take advantage of your topspin and hit sharper angles to take advantage of his...

Number one rule: get the ball in

Number one rule: get the ball in

You lost that match by focusing on the outcome rather than the process. I highly recommend this book's mental game section: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ES10I9O/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1

This helped, best I've ever done vs the fast/flat shot. He also advised preparing earlier which helped a ton in returning his slice which skids like crazy on this surface.
