The most delusional player you ever met?

This guy isn't as delusional as I thought! Won the doubles and got runner up in singles.

The most delusional player you ever met?

I know a delusional guy whos played a local tournament every year for the past 10 years. And every year he says this is the year he'll win it but never has. I'm that guy. And this weekend I'm going to win it!

    Blatant Cheating in USTA Tournament

Might be in the minority here, but if someone is very blatantly cheating and there's no umpire to call I would hook back 1 time on a very obvious call, like a serve in the middle of the service box or something. Make it known to them that you won't just let them cheat without consequences. I...

how well does this questionnaire predict your NTRP/UTR?

Over rated me. But maybe that's my fault. Only correct rating was probably my serve at 5.0. Volleys should be 4.0. returns and groundstrokes should be 4.5.

Swing Vision AI line calls and Analysis

@swupnil is there any chance to get access to the beta for pickleball? I have a pro membership but don't get to use it often for tennis. But I'm playing pickleball at least 3 days a week and really want to be able to record myself play. Would love to try it out and provide feedback.

This pickle ball thing is getting serious now

The average age of pickleball players is constantly going down and is now in the 30's. I continually see pickleball courts packed with groups of teenagers (more of a social gathering than a competitive thing though). It's not going anywhere anytime soon. It is possible it could face the same...

Fast 4 vs 8 Game Pro Set

Speed of matches is not itself very high on priority. It is not a large tournament so time is not the overall issue. It's all done in one day with maybe the championship matches on the next day so not having players get super worn out by the end is mostly why the 8 game pro sets have been used...

Fast 4 vs 8 Game Pro Set

So my high school alum has been hosting a community tournament for the past several years. To keep it moving quick and allow for more matches the format has always been a single 8 game pro set. This year I suggested moving to a fast 4 format for 2 main reasons. 1. It's the same number of games...

What do you make of this ending?

I agree, though there are plenty of times when you make an initial out call and are sure in the moment but in the moments after if there is some doubt. In this case I always correct my call and concede the point. I think not enough people are willing to correct themselves after making a call...

    What happened to Jack Sock?

Both Sock and ALW sucked in the first game but Jack really picked it up in the 2nd and 3rd and dominated more then ALW.

Swing Vision AI line calls and Analysis

@swupnil I've been using swing vision for a long time but just recently saw a video for playsight. It looks like a more permanent solution for clubs, is this a direction swingvision will eventually be going or is the plant to stick with individual members? Also, any time line on when pickleball...

Do you like to return in doubles on deuce or ad?

Depends a lot on my partner. I think whoever has the better return going ad side holds up especially if you know you're not going to get many break points. For that reason I usually play ad side and will default to it if I don't know my partners game well enough. My return is one of my biggest...

Sad to see former tennis player posting pics with pickleball trophies

I agree, and the sad part about Alshon is that he's gotten to the point where he's craping on tennis in favor of pickleball on twitter. One of the saddest things I hear pretty frequently from pickleball players is that they used to play tennis all the time, then once they started pickleball they...

Sad to see former tennis player posting pics with pickleball trophies

News flash, you can play tennis and pickleball. I'd rather play tennis than pickleball any day of the week. But especially during the winter there is no place to play that doesn't want an arm and a leg. And it's hard to find someone willing to play singles with. I can go to a few indoor places...

This pickle ball thing is getting serious now

No, it's can't. The ball doesn't bounce on clay or grass.

    Break Point - NETFLIX

I believe the same people who made DTS are the ones doing Break Point so I'm sure that's their plan. And as a side note they also just released a golf version but I haven't had the chance to check it out. And I agree, Fritz and his gf are worse than Nick and his. Honestly at this point I prefer...

    Break Point - NETFLIX

Imagine if it could have focused on the big 3, or even just one of the big 3. Would have made the series 10x better right out of the gate. But as others have said there was no way that would happen. I watched the first two episodes and it really didn't pull me in the way Drive to Survive did...

Immediate steps to save tennis from Pickleball

If you get to the point where you can't play tennis and start playing pickleball, singles PB is a lot more fun in my opinion than doubles. Much like tennis in some ways and still a good workout because of the fast pace. I think I'd rather play singles PB than doubles tennis in most cases. Hard...

    Tennis growing, competition declining?

I used to be on the train of wanting to play tournaments. In fact I still would. But, more and more they don't have specific divisions and are just Open division, or don't have any singles division at all. So you get in and might play a 3.0 in the first match and then get stomped by a 5.0 in the...

Is the Pure Control Tour the plushest racquet of all time

Very true, I love the feel of my V7 Blade. But I found my Yonex VCP 310 is a great mix of the softness of the blade and sculpting ability of the PC. Still, every once in a while I pull the blade back out and I'm just amazed at how great it feels.

Is the Pure Control Tour the plushest racquet of all time

I used to play with with the Pure Control, not the tour version, though I wouldn't have expected them to be that different given the same stiffness rating. I don't remember it being very plush compared to my wilson blade V7 or even my Yonex VPC. But perhaps compared to most babolat rackets which...

Swing Vision AI line calls and Analysis

@swupnil any chance we could get the option to only see shots/ points from a specific person when they are on a specific side of the court? Analyzing form with footage from the opposite side of the court is kind of tough.

Highest % return vs. someone serving from out wide in singles?

Might not be the highest percentage shot, but if his serve really isn't anything more than a lot of spin, I'd start wide and inside the court (make sure to get a good splitstep). Planning on taking the ball on the rise topspin DTL. The shot is wide open and if you're inside the court you'll be...

    Best compliment you've received

While playing pickleball with an older gent. "So you play professional tennis?" I laughed and said no I wish, it was quite a compliment even if from a pickleballer. The most common one I get is "That's the best/fastest serve I've ever played against". To which I reply, "I could hardly find...

Looking to move on from Blade 98 v7 18x20 to Yonex. EZONE Tour v. VCORE Pro 97 H or HD v. VCORE Pro 98

I went from the Blade v7 18x20 to the Yonex VCP HD and now the Yonex VCP 310g. I like the feeling of the blade better, super soft and plush. But the lower swing weight of the Yonex was what did it for me. Comparing the HD to the 310g, I like the slightly added spin and power of the 310 plus it's...

    I can't believe I lost this match...

This is the type of match you have to go in with a game plan and stick to it. For me, the game plan should be this, scrap the hard first serves and hit all slice wide serves. The slower pace is more than made up for by putting your opponent off into bad court position because of his poor...

Losing some weight and definitely seeing improvement (what sorcery is this?)

I feel you! Losing weight is one of the best things you can do to improve you game (and your life in general) I've lost 50lb's since last year and it has helped me tremendously. I can't tell a huge difference in things like speed myself, but my opponents have mentioned that I get to a lot more...

    Playing In The ZONE

I've played in the zone on a couple occasions. One was when I was sick, coughing, sore throat, etc. Never had a match with less errors in my life, and I'm a very aggressive player so inconsistency is much more common (first every 0 DF match, only 1-2 since then. Most other times, it's similar to...

    DIY Stringing Machine

No the turntable from my old gama fc 600 has a bushing that it turned on. I'm using the original base and just attached the bushing to my new extruded aluminum turntable. Basically no change from the original.
