Used the 98 in singles last night. Im an average 4.5 player (not a high or low 4.5). Launch angle is noticeably lower than my 2006 pure drive. When I have time to set up properly, I can hit flat bombs. If I'm on the run or rushed, it's tough to get the ball over the net. I also get...

For the regular pd or pd+ playtesters, how is the launch angle? Same as 18 and 21? I believe the drill pattern is the same and no tighter, right?

What's your normal stick?

I don't have my pa 98 any longer to compare but I would say the drill patterns are very similar. Swingweight of the pa 98 seemed higher to me.

It hits a less loopy and spinny ball as compared to the pa 98. Which makes sense. It hits more like a pure drive, and the aero 98 hits more like an aero :) I think this is due to their weight distributions. I believe Aeros are more polar for more spin.

There are a few quick reviews of it already. I used it for about a half hour last night in some dubs. Wasn't fairing well in match play and probably switched back to my standard pure drive 2006 too early (2-2 in the first set) because then I was off when using that too. I was serving well...

Just a heads up, adding weight anywhere always increases swingweight, even if it's in the handle or buttcap. It indeed changes the balance, but it doesn't make it more maneuverable. The leather grip might also make the grip too hard/harsh. That is my issue with leather.

What string tension are you guys thinking in the pD 98? I will stick with my usual volkyl cyclone 17. In a standard pure drive, I usually use around 55. Last time I strung it at 55/53 on a drop weight machine. I am thinking maybe 52? Or 53/51. Something along those lines?

My initial biggest question is was it comfortable to hit with? The previous stick generally was not from from what I've read/watched. I also don't think the pa 98 is comfortable, especially off center, but it is tolerable.

I've been posting about the new pure drive off and on for a year or more. And it's my first playtest since summer 2015 when they let me try the 2016 pa!

TW ships from CA and GA, so they have warehouses on each coast. However, you might be right in that it's likely that these are shipping from the same location since it's a limited amount, and their primary location is probably CA.
