    What's Special about Babolat Origin?

Yes, installing Origin in the mains and Gosen Polylon in the crosses will indeed make for a very arm friendly setup. My only concern is that you are coming from a poly main - synthetic gut cross setup as your default. It might be a big transition in feel going to the opposite end of the...

    What's Special about Babolat Origin?

I agree with bigserving's assessment of Babolat Origin; it's a jack of all trades. No glaring weaknesses. The thing that stood out most for me is that it feels very crisp...for such a comfortable and powerful string. It's the good feedback upon contact that makes it special; even natural gut...

Best Multifilament that acts as a Natural Gut replacement

True. Vice versa, there is no other string, or type of string that costs as much as natural gut...that requires as much care when stringing...that is as adversely affected by high humidity...that is as powerful...as natural gut. There are a multitude of reasons to use natural gut...but...

Best Multifilament that acts as a Natural Gut replacement

Although not technically a multifilament...I think Babolat Origin is the closest synthetic alternative to natural gut that I have tried...and I've used most of the multis that have been mentioned in prior posts (X1Biphase, NRG2, Excel, Maxim Touch). The power level and softness of Origin is up...

    Plantar Fasciitis

I've been demoing Sole insoles for the past couple weeks in my tennis shoes (Asics GR6). Previously, I've used Superfeet insoles (green). I was curious to find out if the Sole insoles were an improvement over the Superfeet insoles. I've been wearing Superfeet insoles for about five (5) years...

Achilles Tendons - Chronic Pain Solutions?

I've had the same issue concerning Achilles tendon pain; walking up and down stairs in the morning was excruciating. Tried everything from heel dip exercises, massage, meds...saw some improvements but the same issue kept reappearing. The one thing I did that totally fixed the issue entirely...

Longest lasting ball in terms of bounce?

Another vote for Pro Penn Marathons. I can confirm that they are better than the Penn ATP balls as well. Retain their bounce longer and felt lasts longer.

impact on arm and power: poly at super low tension vs multi at higher tensions

I switched from a Wilson KPS88 to a Babolat Pure Strike Tour (18X20) last year; experimented with a multitude of string setups to find something that would work for me. Like you, I utilize a one-handed backhand. I typically hit with plenty of topspin on my backhand wing but relatively flat on...

    Which poly cross for gut?

Luxilon 4G works really well. As some previous posters have stated, it retains tension very well for a poly and that makes for a hybrid stringbed that holds tension exceptionally well. The other reason for using 4G is that it adds some crispness to the setup and offsets the tendency for...

    I can't play with 98's

Ball pocketing has more to do with string and tension than the racquet. The tighter string pattern does feel stiffer but can be mitigated with the right string and tension. I"m using TF NRG2/Lux 4G hybrid and finding pretty good dwell time.

    I can't play with 98's

Give the Babolat Pure Strike Tour a try. I played with the KPS88 since its introduction and recently switched to the Babolat PS Tour after demoing various frames over the winter as a replacement for my KPS88's. Nothing is going to totally replace the feel and plowthrough of the KPS88 but...

    Pure Strike Tour!!!

I swapped out the stock grip with Babolat leather grip; made for increase feel of bevels and racquet more head light. Great racquet. Coming from the Wilson KPS88 and the only difficulty in transitioning was the tighter string pattern which made spin a bit more difficult to access. I do find...

What Babolat frame is most like...

I've used Wilson player frames for more than 25 years (PS85, 6.1 Classic, K90, KPS88) and recently decided to switch to a stick with a bit more forgiveness and power without sacrificing "feel". Demoed a lot of sticks and was surprised to find that the stick I liked the most was the Babolat Pure...

    Best Compact Camera

I think the Sony RX100 is something you should consider. It's very small (can fit in your back pocket), has excellent (metal) construction, capable of high image quality, and has a very good Carl Zeiss lens in a useable range. I do a lot of freelance photography work and utilize a lot of...

    Edberg's Present Racquet?

The Stefan Edberg fan site posted this article from a Swedish newspaper: Stefan Edberg and Roger Federer's cooperation has so far been a success. Edberg now confirms he will stay in Federer's coaching team to the end of 2014. – We have done the first part, and from now on it will be...

No problem. I agree, it appears he's using the Pro Staff 90 and that backhand of his is just sublime. I heard Federer extended his contract with Edberg from 10 weeks to a full year. Congrats to Stefan for making an immediate impact. In other news, Djokovic reneged his contract with Becker...

More Difficult to Learn: Baseline Tennis or Serve and Volley?

Serve & Volley is more difficult to "learn" in my view. In order to become successful at S & V, you have to not only learn the various skills required to succeed in that style...but you have to acquire anticipation of where the opponent's return is going and move forward to intersect the ball...

Looking for similar racquet to Pro Staff Classic 6.1 95

I played with the 6.1 Classic for ~ 13 years staring in junior. When I was forced to give up the 6.1 Classic due to scarce inventory, I looked to the newer 6.1 95's starting with the KFactor version. Despite repeated customization efforts (i.e. lead tape), it was impossible to reproduce the...

Placement of the return and first volley in doubles

    3/8 and 1/2 grip rackets

Take the 4 3/8 racquet to a competent tennis shop that does racquet customizing and ask them to install a heat shrink sleeve. The heat shrink method would be far superior to using two overgrips; two overgrips is going to result in a very mushy feel that reduces tactile feedback. The heat...

    Barb Wire vs Tour Bite

^ If you strung BW @ 40 LBs and found it stiff as hell..something's definitely amiss. I use BW as a full setup in KPS88 @ 53 LBS and it's one of the softer polyester strings on the market. I can't imagine your arm pain can be attributed to BW...especially when strung at 40LBS...
