    2025 Australian Open - Women's Discussion

There's a good chance Osaka goes out here. We know Garcia has a high ceiling but she's lacked results for a while. These top players who experience these kind of lulls such as Garcia, Kenin and so on are extremely dangerous when playing a top/high profile player in the early stages of a GS. I...

    2025 Australian Open - Women's Discussion

I remember Aiava getting a WC a few years back, so it's great to see her make it through qualies and fight through to the 2nd round. Unrelated to form, but also cool how she's been rocking retro thrift attire for the tournament.

Not sure if it's been posted already but Fearnley in Adidas at the AO (Vuori last year).

    Thank you, Fearnley!

2025 Australian Open - General Discussion for Men's Singles

Machac and Lehecka need to learn to stomp their authority on these early round matches and get through in 3, 4 minimum or they're going to be gassed and not able to fully take it to the top players should they meet them. Both are hotly tipped to rise this year but they both seem to be vulnerable...

2025 Australian Open - General Discussion for Men's Singles

Darderi has to be the overall worst player in the ATP top 100 - he can virtually only win on clay. Not to mention if you go near enough a year without wins you have to wonder if there will be any confidence come the clay season to defend all your points from the year prior.

2025 Australian Open - General Discussion for Men's Singles

I was hoping Bu would push on from the Asian swing of last year but he appears to be having a tough time transitioning to the ATP tour. You can't be annoyed when a player continues to break new ground for their country so congrats to Habib!

    2025 Australian Open Outfits

The could tone the pink down with some other colours such as only wearing the pink top or shorts. The colour looks good against the blue courts. I also like this blue he's wearing but it is pretty drowned out by the court, just like Nishikori's blue Uniqlo gear. As with Fernandez we are going to...

    2025 Australian Open - Women's Discussion

I'm not sure what Zheng did in the weeks leading up to the AO where she withdrew but it's understandable that she will be rusty in match play initially and will need t work her way into the draw. I'm not sure she will or can be ready for the Sabalenka she could encounter if she can make the QF...

What has happened to Irish Tennis?

There was Niland and then McGee after him. McGee came through the college tennis route but neither of them went beyond R1 at a major. Niland's book is quite interesting and really sheds light on the struggle of the Futures/Challenger tour grind attempt to get direct entry to majors/major qualies.

    Sponsorship Changes for 2025

I don't recall them using textures much with their products so it may just be block colours and he will rock a tank top sometimes too. I'd like to see them try experimenting a little with his gear but at the same time it probably goes against their design philosophy. The pink is a statement...

    Sponsorship Changes for 2025

Providing he has some decent results I think this is a great acquisition by LLL. Their vibe is so different to Nike's, so it's actually quite jarring seeing Tiafoe playing in their gear right now for the first time, but at least they also have kit with colour that pops. Lack of pattern/design...

This is a different Gauff. The only thing that seems to boost Kenin's form nowadays is playing a top player she wants to get a scalp over. I think Gauff will make an example out of her R1.

Sabalenka leads the H2H 4-0 but all of those matches went to 3 sets. Not sure SS has looked so beatable since after her USO win when she went on a huge losing streak. She's also 0-2 in AO warm-up events losing to Ann Li twice in succession whereas Sabalenka is approaching top form already.

    2025 Australian Open Outfits

Just read that Aiava has been wearing retro Ivanovic/Sharapova attire from over a decade ago in her qualifying matches. I'll have to try and dig some pictures out later to see them and I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for her R1 outfit to see what she goes with. Pretty cool versus just...

Eala of the Philippines who's sponsored by Nike and trains at the Rafael Nadal Academy. She's still yet to make a main draw at a major which is surprising. I'm going to guess she will qualify for RG this year.

Awful colour combo 3/10, Casper makes it look a 5 no better than that. I think it would look even worse if it weren't for the Aussie sunshine and bright blue court which it clashes with.

    Everybody Hyeon Chung Tonight!

Here's hoping he's back at his best for Wimbledon. I think he's only ever going to be a factor on grass and there aren't enough specialist grass court players on tour so it's always way more interesting when there are these types of players who can trip up the top 10-20 at Wimbledon.

Yeah I hope they're on a collision course for 3-4 matches this year like when players just seem to keep getting drawn against one another. It certainly adds a different dimension to the match and also unpredictability as to how much drama there is. Collins had that hot streak last Spring and has...

2025 ATP Hong Kong Tennis Open

Muller prevails 2-6 6-1 6-3 over Nishikori to win his maiden ATP Tour title. According to commentary that makes Muller only the 3rd man in the open era to win a title having lost the first set of every one of his matches played throughout the draw.

    WTA week of 12/29; Brisbane 500 & Auckland 250

Really hope Naomi can get well before the start of the AO. She would have been a really exciting floater in the draw, and if she had a decent route I could definitely have seen QF finish at least, even better potentially.

Roddick & co. were defending her on his podcast and telling listeners how wrong people are with their assumptions of Collins but she just seems real real salty. Plus, she's not played a match this whole United Cup and is set to face Jabeur in Adelaide. Let's see if UC has prepped her in any way.

    United Cup - Sydney

Great to wake up to Coco closing the H2H deficit on Iga. Even at 11-3 it's still lopsided but if Gauff can win more regularly going forward it won't look like such a bloodbath. I would not hate to see Sabalenka v Gauff in the AO final. Actually I'm craving it and it would be so apt. It's a...

    United Cup - Sydney

Heck we have seen players on the floor having full body cramps and screaming to fight on at 250/500 events. I don't doubt he wasn't feeling discomfort/frustration but retiring like that at 24 just seems immature.

He's scheduled to play Adelaide, so we will see if he does. I expect he will withdraw simply because he's had enough match play this week but going ahead and playing it will make his withdrawal look extra weak that's for sure.

He was 5-2 up and serving for the match in the second set, then he had 2 MP on Fritz' serve up 5-3. Even if he was having a bit of cramp he also wasn't clutch and going down in the set having served for the match 2x and losing 2 MP added a lot of fuel to the mental fire that's for sure. When you...

    United Cup - Sydney

He didn't look injured on that final point at all but then once walking around seemed a bit heavy legged so that's probably put on to force the illusion somewhat. Losing a lead against a top player really shouldn't trigger this level of mental breakdown but perhaps he felt he had nothing left to...
