Sharapova says three set matches for men in slams

Doesn't bother me as long as they reduce her matches to one set, so I don't have to hear the sound of her voice! http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/tennis/26465202

Evil draw-Rafa, Fed, Hewitt, Del, Tsonga, Murray, Isner, Raonic

On their day they might give someone a fright. Still, a tough top half of the draw on paper

Evil draw-Rafa, Fed, Hewitt, Del, Tsonga, Murray, Isner, Raonic

Doko will be in the final with the charity draw he has.The top half of the draw is a *****. If I was a betting man I'd say Del Potro to make the final.

Wasn't that nice! Brown (S&V) vs Hewitt (BL)

Adrian Mannarino who got through when Isner retired. Well, I hope Brown keeps going for it! It could result in a horrible error ridden display or he destroys him like he did Hewitt!

Wasn't that nice! Brown (S&V) vs Hewitt (BL)

Plus Fed struggled against his opponent who again S & Ved a lot

Wasn't that nice! Brown (S&V) vs Hewitt (BL)

Is S & V on the way back. Most of the Pro's these day woudn't know what to do with a proper world class S & Vler cuz they have probably never seen one!

Wasn't that nice! Brown (S&V) vs Hewitt (BL)

Brown vs Hewitt. Not sure many of you watched it. A gutsy serve and volley performance against a fighting baseliner (who could also use the net). The game was fast! Brown was showng fabulous touch, comittment and nous at net. Hewitt was trying to find a way past. GOOD TO WATCH!!! The crowd...

Tennis is dead. Enjoy your message board

It's just a grinders paradise. No variety at all. It's been a pleasure watching tennis for some 30 years, but this is a joke now.

For the good of tennis, Tsonga must win!

He's aggressive, has a personality, can serve and volley on his day! Tennis needs him to win this. In the current drone of defensive tennis and blar personalities, I would love someone to be rewarded on the roadrunner of all surfaces! COME ON TSONGA! TENNIS IS WITH YOU!! Agree?

What can the commentators do to keep the FO interesting?

I say the viewers can tweet in 'one liners' the commentators have to slip into their comments during the match. or any rally that goes over 20 shots, someone has to play a violin!!

golf overtakes tennis for popularity in the US

Not surprising! Tennis has little variety to keep the average joe immersed in watching tennis for extended periods of time. Obviously, the less people watching impacts the numbers who take up the game, especially the younger folk. The US needs a slam champion and fast!!!!!!!

equal pay at majors, the debate is over

The women players are not putting bums on seats at the majors. A survey of Wimbledon punters showed that 75 per cent were there to watch the guys. The women's job market is not as competitive. You look at the women's top 10 and the question "anyone for tennis" is far from the lips. The eyes...

    Nalbandian should be suspended!!

come on kids, highlight of the year so far. Finally, grass has some action. Now, if they would only speed up the court, we might actually have some real tennis, rather than a horror show!

Who is more defensive, Doko or Rafa?

I just saw the last set of the final (thank God, it was only a set) but from what I saw, Rafa appears way more defensive than Doko. I didn't see the whole match and I haven't watched these two go at it, because of the boredom factor. Am I right, or are they equally defensive or is Rafa...

Doko and Nadal killing the sport for the masses?

It's a fair point, live will always be more impressive, though, it would be nice for the kids to see that there is more than one way (style) to play the game. TV is what will get the masses back into actually playing the game.

Doko and Nadal killing the sport for the masses?

There is only so much arse tugging and ball bouncing a human can take. Some people have a greater threshold than others, but eventually the biggest fans of Rafa and Doko with realize this is bad for the game.

Doko and Nadal killing the sport for the masses?

Actually, I've changed my point of view. If Doko and Rafa keep playing in finals, the length of the matches will without question start to err the powers at be that tennis shouldn't be played for this long. So, bring on the finals, I won't be watching, but maybe the both of them can help tennis...

Doko and Nadal killing the sport for the masses?

Great athletes the both of them, but why would the kids watch or play tennis. It's just not exciting enough to keep them entertained. There are too many awesome sports out there that hook the kids. Tennis doesn't stand a chance. Look at American tennis, struggling to grab the younger talent...

Who wins and how long will the final last? Be precise

you have to calculate the arse scratching and ball bouncing. There's two hours right there.

Who wins and how long will the final last? Be precise

If it doesn't go beyond 4hrs, I'll be amazed! Time: 4:49 mins Winner: Doko

    Anyone watching the French Open?

Have you ever served S&V in your life, do you have any concept of how difficult that is? You think 1-2-3 is easier. It's better than 1-23 of endless cross court hitting until someone hits it short or someone has the balls to hit it flat and maybe follow it in. Agassi was the last great tactician...

What do you think? More people watch than play or vice versa

I love to play tennis, have done for 20 years. These days I hate to watch it. I find it so boring. I was just wondering who's out there in tennis land like me. I used to love watching and playing, but damn times have changed.

    Anyone watching the French Open?

I dunno team, if I flick on the tennis and the first rally lasts forever, I just can't handle the thought I watching anymore. It's painful, I believe I have a new virus called marathonitis. I SERIOUSLY WANT TO KNOW HOW THE POWERS AT BE CAN SEE THIS AS ENTERTAINMENT FOR YOUNGER FOLK. EVEN GOLF IS...

    Think about TV viewers please!

The powers at be seem to think that 6 hours of tennis is great tv watching (three or four is great). I have two kids who love and play tennis, but by the middle of the 3rd set they were bored. Obviously, being inside the stadium is different. The atmosphere keeps the adrenaline flowing and the...

    Sharapova poorly coached

She could win more slams with more variation. I don't see how she is trying to improve, she needs to add shots to her game.

    Sharapova poorly coached

The Pova reminds me of a young Agassi, trying to hit the crap out of everything. Along came Gilbert who taught him how to mix it up and use his brain. The Pova needs the same!
