2024 US Open Mens Quarterfinals: [9] Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) vs [20] Frances Tiafoe (USA)

When you see the way the second set ended, you can see why neither player has gotten the gold. I don't mean to take anything away from either -that second set was the most entertaining, most fun set I have seen this tourney. And the final three DFs were icing on the insane cake. But imagine any...

Jenson Brooksby is UTR World #9

Does anyone know why Brooksby isn't playing? I read his suspension ended in March 2024, but he hasn't played a match since 2023...?

    Lindsay about No1e

I have heard this before, that negative East European bias is a significant contributing factor. My personal bias against Seles was of the auditory variety! But isn't NBA's Doncic quite popular?

    Lindsay about No1e

I'm trying to think of another player from another sport who was the GOAT and wasn't liked by the majority of the fans. Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Tom Brady... Not sure who in baseball, I guess Babe Ruth? I was never a fan of Brady but I never disliked him or anything. And Jordan was fairly...

2024 Wimbledon Women's Final: [31] Barbora Krejcikova vs [7] Jasmine Paolini

Is it fair to say this means Krejcikova is a shoe-in for the HoF? Two majors, #2 in the world, and a trove of doubles/mixed wins...

    2024 Wimbledon - Women's Discussion

Losing 10-8 in a third set tiebreak does not a choke make. Both ladies played their hearts out. Huge points, great defense, some serious forehand power (Paolini fired one at 92mph - 5mph faster than her previous first serve!). One of those matches that you want neither player to lose.

    2024 Wimbledon - Women's Discussion

It's lovely to see somebody play such a different game. She's like the Mannarino of the WTA, very unique. Wish there were more players like her.

    2024 Wimbledon - Women's Discussion

I am absolutely mesmerized by Tatiana Maria. Does she exclusively slice on both forehead and backhand? I have not seen her hit a single topspin shot yet, against Katie Boulter. I see Maria has won three tournaments in her career, one on grass and two on clay. Surely she cannot win a tournament...

Roddick and his incredible love for Wimbledon

Okay, here's what I found. Basically, I Brian-Williamsed it: So just one of his USO's! You're right, Lendl was entirely too level headed to trade all of his trophies for one Wimbledon. Even in his quotes, the man was the very definition of rationality.

Roddick and his incredible love for Wimbledon

Goodness, you know, for all I know, you are 100% correct. I did not follow Lendl at your level, but now I am super curious. Let me do some digging to see if I can find any evidence to my supposition!

Roddick and his incredible love for Wimbledon

I remember when Lendl lost to Pat Cash, he said something like, "I'd trade all of my trophies for just one Wimbledon." It's a cruel mistress, this grass tournament.

    Katie Boulter appreciation thread.

100% this. I mean at least the hat, please, if not the whole outfit? They need to implement this for both men and women, that you cannot wear the same kit. I still can't believe this happens with such regularity.

    Energy Advice for 50+?

Thank you all for your helpful advice here! I do want to clarify that it's not like I'm so dead tired after 20 minutes that I can barely play. I'm fully capable of playing for another 1.5 to 2 hours. Maybe I'm just bemoaning what I used to have in my youth, but it does feel like the 20-minute...

    Energy Advice for 50+?

Since I turned 50 two years ago, I must begrudgingly admit that after playing hard for about 20 minutes, I'm fairly exhausted. I can still play, of course, for another hour or so (two hours is pretty much my limit), but the spring in my step is definitely gone by the 20-minute mark. Not long...

    Mannarino Appreciation

100% -- in the match against Tiafoe, Frances very well knew where this serve was going to go...and yet he could only effectively play maybe 30% of them. That lefty spin is just murder! My friend labeled Mannarino an energy vampire, and I think he's totally right! The man isn't playing...

    Mannarino Appreciation

I watched Mannarino play Tiafoe yesterday, and I almost could not believe what I was seeing. It's so deceptive, what he's doing...how he's able to redirect these big shots from Frances to corner to corner to corner...again and again and again. His ability to change speeds is like nothing I've...

You are a tennis god. You can do anything to make tennis "better/exciting" by introducing changes in it. What are the 5 changes you are making?

I'm with the "make the game faster" faction, so my dream would be to go no ad. Yes, it would eliminate the now-classic 26 minute game between Novak and Carlos, but that's OK. There are still plenty of points in a match. I never even considered eliminating the 2nd serve, but I see that's a...

Prince Original Graphite (POG3) -- So Much Power

Now that I have the tighter strings, the power definitely has been muted. As someone earlier in the thread surmised, the old strings must've gotten way loose. It just feels solid and good. My goal has always been to "throw" the racquet at the ball, especially on the 1HB, and this Prince really...

Prince Original Graphite (POG3) -- So Much Power

Folks, I hit for the first time after getting this POG3 of mine strung at 64/60 (Signum Prop 17/Forten Sweet 17). I LOVE THIS RACQUET!! I've never hit my one-handed backhand with this much power and sure-of-feel. And since I'm a two-handed forehand player (torn labrum, and too old to get...

Prince Original Graphite (POG3) -- So Much Power

Just measured it - 14.0 oz even. That is .5 oz heavier than the other old racquet in my collection, the Yonex R-30. I really like the R-30!

Prince Original Graphite (POG3) -- So Much Power

Thanks so much, 64/60 I can handle. I should also mention I do a poly/synth hybrid setup, Signum Pro poly 17 and Forten sweet 17. Is this okay for these racquets?

Prince Original Graphite (POG3) -- So Much Power

I got a POG3 and played with it yesterday. In all honesty, I've never played with a racquet so powerful. And I use to play with a Head Ti.S6! I didn't have it restrung yet because I wanted to see how it felt...now I think I'm going to have to get it restrung if I'm going to be able to control...
