    Serving with an Eastern Forehand?

Why is it that you think I can't? Sure, every pro in the entire world uses a Continental. I am NOT recommending that people use the Eastern grip. I use a Continental 99.9% of the time I play. The .1% is when I am either playing a fun match with friends and want to goof around with it and a...

    Serving with an Eastern Forehand?

I find I get a LOT more power with an Eastern FH grip than a Conti. I'm not sure what does it, my guess is that since the hand is further behind the racquet handle, less power is lost due to wrist/hand flex on impact. I went to it just for the heck of it in a friendly match a few weeks ago and...

    Experiences With Peroneal Tendonitis?

Has anyone had peroneal tendonitis? What are your experiences with it? What has helped? Mine has been going on for a couple months. Ice, Advil and foot/ankle taping have all helped but they probably have done just enough good to allow me to play when I shouldn't be. I have taken time off at...

Anyone used Weisscannon Explosiv! (multi) as cross with poly mains!

I mixed it with Topspin Cyber Blue 16g, both at 55lbs (the Explosiv was pre-stretched by my stringer). I liked the feel but I went back to Addiction because it costs less. I didn't think it broke any quicker than any other multi I have tried.

    Self Rates being watched closely

I got DQ'd this year. I self-rated 3.0 last year and went 1-3 in tournament matches. Two losses were straight sets and I only won 3 games in the final loss. I joined a 3.0 league thinking it was where I needed to be and I blew out three guys and got dinked. Some people were telling me I should...

Is Blowing On The Ball Legal?

If that's the case, if the receiver just dinks it with HIS racquet, his racquet would be on my side of the net, I wouldn't be able to hit the ball upwards to get it over the net and therefore it would be a hindrance to me returning the ball to him...

Is Blowing On The Ball Legal?

Nope, just thought about it after watching a ball sit right on top of the net for two seconds or so after hitting a drop shot.

They read your mind and know exactly where you're going to hit , so you're still hosed.

Yeah, I am ashamed to admit it, but I probably would!

Is Blowing On The Ball Legal?

I wasn't thinking of trying to direct it in the air, just knock it off the net and on to his side without touching it. The ball would have way too much going for it as far as momentum goes.

What's the worst/meanest thing an opponent has to you?

Threads like this always make me appreciate how great my two-year tennis experience has been. The meanest thing anyone has said was "Well, I thought you weren't going to let me win any," when he won the only game he won in the match. Pretty mean, huh :) Try playing rec league basketball or...

Is Blowing On The Ball Legal?

Actually, now that I think about it, I think I hit the shot, not him. Other wise I would have somehow tried to very carefully tip it over the net. Or, maybe I just didn't think that fast...

Is Blowing On The Ball Legal?

I realize it's an extremely long shot, but I swear I could have gotten to that ball that was just "sitting" on top of the net the other day. Both my opponent and I were standing there just looking at it, waiting for it to fall. He had tried to hit a drop shot and it landed squarely on top of the...

Is Blowing On The Ball Legal?

Yes, I know it's a weird question and would be a pretty unlikely occurrence :P The other day, I had a ball practically sit up on the net and eat lunch before deciding to fall on my opponent's side. Occasionally you get a ball that runs along the net for two feet or so before dropping on one...

    Eye health

+1 on the Oakleys. The optics are so good I don't even notice that I have them on. It's nice that you can get different colored lenses without getting different glasses, too. After getting hit in the eye pretty hard, I even used the clear and colored lenses for eye-protection for awhile. Once...

It's The Indian, Not The Arrow

Yes, but a properly fletched and straight arrow will fly truer and an extra-sharp tip will penetrate the animal's body better. The result is that the skilled warrior brings home more buffalo. Plus, a better comparison is his bow. If he buys a crappy bow at Wal-Mart and its performance is...

    Plantar Fasciitis Recovery Time?

A friend of mine has been having really bad trouble with PF and he just got a "night splint" from Walgreen's a few weeks ago. He says it's made a HUGE difference and doesn't feel any pain unless he plays for 2.5-3 hours. http://heelspurs.com/_nightsplints.html

    Serve, Pressure

I've found that the people that I play (3.0-3.5s) have as much trouble with a good kicker as they do with a hard flat serve so I mainly hit it in league/tournament play. A consistent toss seems to help me a lot. If I'm hitting into the net, I'm throwing the ball too far forward. Whatever you...

Heavier + big enough frame = consistency

The set-up you're talking about works pretty well for me. The reason I use it is that I am fairly strong and my hand-eye coordination is good but not great. In other sports, like basketball, softball and golf, I always had consistency problems. Even though I spent 10-15 hours a week in the gym...

filling material for inside of handle

I insert long, thin bolts heavily wrapped in duct tape into the handle. I don't notice any extra dampening. It's also nice because it's easy to remove too. Just be sure to use lot of duct tape to prevent rattling.

    3-Strike Rule and DQed mid-season...

Niiiiice. Oh well. I'll see how the first matches go. Am I correct in assuming that if I voluntarily move up before being DQ'd that they wouldn't be forfeited?

    3-Strike Rule and DQed mid-season...

Thanks! I don't have a problem with being bumped up and not getting to continue playing 3.0 if I need to be bumped. I just want to make sure we won't have to forfeit anything if I do. Besides, I STILL haven't actually won anything, this is just based on what people perceive my game to be.

    3-Strike Rule and DQed mid-season...

Okay, I'm still a little confused. I have a T rating of 3.0 from last year (went 1-3 in tournaments). I play a lot and took lessons all winter and made a good bit of improvement and joined a 3.0 league team this year. Our captain seems to think I am risk of getting DQ'd. If I get bumped up...
