    USTA jitters

Agree with others have said: - Play more matches - Embrace the nerves. I dislike it when I can't get "up" for a match or feel any competitive fire. I want that pressure or nerves every time - Realize that USTA is for fun and competition. This is not high stakes tennis. Your life doesn't change...

    First USTA League

I've played 8.5 mens and mixed as the weaker partner to a 5.0. I started out thinking - what's my role? how will I handle it? Should I be more conservative and let my partner do the heavy lifting? What I can definitively say (for me) is that all of those thoughts were unwarranted. I held up...

Different racquets for serve and return games?

OP - I experimented with two different sticks for a few matches a few years ago. Served with a C10 pro which was loaded with power compared to my normal PB10mid. I didn't have bad results doing it but never settled in to a comfortable spot in matches due to the switching. YMMV but definitely...

Pince Tour 98 best TW rating ever?!

One person’s 90 is the next users 70. So much personal preference, bias, and historical perspective built in to opinions/ratings. That said, I would give it a very high rating because it’s been a pretty easy transition for me from the PB10 Mid. Can still “swing out” and get plenty of spin to...

Pince Tour 98 best TW rating ever?!

For those struggling with volleys, what specifically is the issue?

Prestige Pro 2021 vs ATS TT 98

Thanks for the info. How does the TF40 compare to the ATS? The TF was on my short list as the specs are pretty similar. The only issue that stopped me from buying was the swingweight. Was a bit concerned I couldn’t increase it without getting the static weight too far out of range.

    Asics Gel Resolution 9

I got the exact same size as my Nike's. That said, the previous iteration of Vapor Pro's (not the newly released ones) were way too narrow and crushed my toes. Never tried sizing up.

where did you add weight? Our ideal specs are very similar.

Prestige Pro 2021 vs ATS TT 98

Hoping someone who has hit both can compare the power level and general feel/pocketing from each of these sticks. I won't get a chance to demo so looking for input. Both are within my range of specs but have a few questions: - How significant is the static weight difference? SW's are the same...

    Asics Gel Resolution 9

I have what I would consider a normal width foot and these definitely feel less long/skinny than the 8’s. Not by a lot, but enough to make a difference. I have another match later today and will report back if I notice a difference this time.

    Asics Gel Resolution 9

Quick review - Gel 9's arrived yesterday and were on the court about 90 minutes later. I have a lot of history with the 8's, Nike's entire line, and also Diadora (B.Icon and others). Compared to the 8's I found the fit to be better for me. Slightly wider in the toe box so had no rubbing...

Blister from playing with leather grip + overgrip? Or is it different pallet shape?

I do believe there was a small opening between the overgrip and the leather but I didn’t think it was a big deal at the time. Guess I was wrong! Could also have been some of the buttcap exposed. Appreciate all the responses.

Blister from playing with leather grip + overgrip? Or is it different pallet shape?

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to demo it again once my hand heals and I'll add on a new overgrip and see how that goes. I put a fresh one on for the last two hours but at that point the damage was done.

Blister from playing with leather grip + overgrip? Or is it different pallet shape?

Hit with 3 demo sticks for a combined 3.5 hours over 2 days. After the first hour or so I could feel a blister forming where the bottom of the grip would touch your hand. Never had a blister playing tennis before. One of the demos has a leather grip and had a pretty torn up overgrip. I've never...

I'd like to see the Courtballistec 1.3's come back. Loved those!

    NikeCourt Zoom Vapor 11 (2023)

How is the toe box on the Vapor 11 compared to the original Vapor Pro? Or compared to the 10's? The initial iteration of the Vapor Pro's had too narrow of a toe box for me.

I’m a pretty big fan of these shoes. Wish they came out with a pair in black.

The racquet search continues - Seeking input on next steps

Update: I played 3 sets today, one with each stick. - The PK and Prince were both underwhelming for different reasons. I felt like the 97P didn't provide any extra a pop. The PK was pure power and lacked a bit of feel. I also didn't like it on serves. Obviously, neither had my normal setup...

The racquet search continues - Seeking input on next steps

I appreciate everyone's recommendations. I am hoping to keep this thread going with feedback as I demo different sticks. There are a lot of demos that aren't in stock so the first 3 coming are: PK Ki Q+ Tour Prince 97P Dunlop CX200 Tour 16x19 I've hit with 2 of these before but want to give...

The racquet search continues - Seeking input on next steps

Sorry to hear about your shoulder. Definitely take care there. I’m early 40’s. I have a TON of friends who play with the Blade sticks. I’m confident it’s a great stick but for whatever reason I had no spin or depth control. Convinced it was really just a tough transition from what I’m playing...

The racquet search continues - Seeking input on next steps

Definitely appreciate the list but want to try to stay with open string patterns if possible. Most of these are 18x20. I did have the 16x19 TF on my list a while back but my demo was canceled after being on backorder for 3 months.

The racquet search continues - Seeking input on next steps

I totally get what you are saying. My challenge is that it seems like I’ve operating at one extreme for a very long time - super flexy, heavy, tiny beam - that anything else feels weird now. I got bumped up at the end of 2021 so playing against heavier hitters and not having the stability of a...

The racquet search continues - Seeking input on next steps

When I was heavy in to demos I always felt that the difference in the feel of whatever I was trying vs what I was used to was largely impacted by beam width, not head size. One felt like a scalpel and the thicker demo’s felt like foreign objects. To answer your first question, stock is...

The racquet search continues - Seeking input on next steps

I actually bought the CX200 Tour 95 because the specs looks like exactly what I wanted. I don’t recall exactly what I didn’t like but remember it having a much lower launch than I was used to and no difference in power vs the PB10 Mid.

The racquet search continues - Seeking input on next steps

Hi all, I’ve posted a few times over the last couple of years trying to find a better suited racquet for me. I’m middle aged, still move decently but on the decline due to injuries, and need more free power. Having a larger head size is also very appealing as I play mostly doubles. I’m having...

    Cramping

Pre-hydrating is critical. Make sure you are drinking lots of fluids the day prior and morning of your match. The reality for heavy sweaters (like me) is that you will lose the water several times faster than you can replenish it. So, no matter how much you drink, you can't catch up once...
