Head Lynx Tour - Official Thread

Compared to M8, Lynx Tour (particularly in silver and black colors) is less lively and firmer. I was surprised by how much pop M8 offered and the softness of the string. I typically play around 50-52 lbs but had to take M8 up to 55 to make it playable.

    Stiff but thin (G18/1,20mm)

I’m a long time Confidential 1.20 user. I’ve always used it as a main in a hybrid. In a full bed it is too stiff for my liking. I never found it to be uncomfortable on the arm but it is a firm string. I am making the switch to Tecnifibre 4s (formerly Black Code 4s). It is also a 4-sided string...

Throwing in the towel on Zero as a main or cross. I would have to string it at an uncomfortably high tension to get the desired control. It just has too much pop in an Ezone 98 Tour. I could see it working well in a very low powered frame though. Back to Confidential 1.20 as my main. Crossing...

I wouldn’t say that. It feels and looks comparable to other 1.20 shaped strings.

I found M8 more comfortable than Tour Sniper. No need to lower tension on it.

Head Lynx Tour 18g - what a pain to find!

To the naked eye it is noticeably thicker than a 1.20 round string. I guess with a 4 or 6 sided string you could measure the diameter in various ways. 1. Flat side to flat side, which would be thinner. 2. Corner to corner, which would be thicker. 3. Take an average of the above. Does anybody...

Head Lynx Tour 18g - what a pain to find!

I have not purchased anything from them. I prefer the gray Lynx Tour so I purchased a reel of it and a reel of black from Amazon Germany.

Head Lynx Tour 18g - what a pain to find!

US shipping is 40 euros. Keep in mind a 220m reel of ALU power is $300 so there are much pricier strings with less performance. If you love the Lynx Tour then buy 2-3 reels to make the shipping cost easier to stomach.

Head Lynx Tour 18g - what a pain to find!

Tennis Point (formerly ******* Sports out of Cincinnati) has it on their European site. It looks like champagne is the only color in stock in 1.20. https://global.tennis-point.com/head-lynx-tour-reel-string-reel-200m-ecru-00655002306000.html I guess the site will not let me post the word...

Head Lynx Tour vs Yonex Poly Tour Pro

If anybody wants to try Lynx Tour 1.20 I have a reel of gray and a reel of black. PM me if you want some 40’ sets.

Did anyone find Grapplesnake Tour M8 too soft and bouncy?

Tour M8 plays softer than Confidential, which is expected based on handling them. Based on the feel of M8, I was mostly impressed with the control of the string. Given the soft feel, I was expecting it to be a more erratic but the control was there. It’s a solid option but personally I like a...

Head Lynx Tour - Official Thread

If you can tolerate a full bed of Confidential 1.25 at 23kg then definitely go 24kg on the Lynx Tour 1.20. I could never do a full bed of Confidential due to the stiffness but it’s a great main.

Head Lynx Tour - Official Thread

I’m considering buying a reel of 1.20 gray and 1.20 black from Europe. Chime in if you’d like to purchase any 40’ sets.

I can’t tell much difference between champagne and gray 1.20. These are marginal differences but I noticed the champagne feels a bit more plush yet possibly more controlled. Gray is a bit more crisp and feels livelier. We are really splitting hairs between the two in feel and performance. The...

I have 1.20 champagne in one frame and 1.20 gray in my other frame for a side by side comparison. I will report back after hitting tomorrow.

Head Lynx Tour - Official Thread

I don’t think you’re going to find it in North America. You will have to order from a European site.

Anyone know what string this is?

That would be my guess also. If you can see that it is 6 sided then I’d say Lynx Tour. The champagne color is rather unique.

    Solinco Confidential 3.0B

CB-5B and CB-10JX seemed pretty similar to me. CB-7A seemed much livelier, not as much control as the others. I would have to test another set to reach a conclusion though. None of them were awful so I couldn’t write off CB-7A after just one use.

I tried Lynx Tour 1.20 champagne mains with Hawk Touch 1.20 crosses yesterday for the first time strung at 50 lbs. Great spin potential and the Hawk Touch really added some feel and pocketing. I plan on increasing Hawk Touch to 52 lbs to add more control.

I have champagne and gray 1.20 to try out and will be doing so soon. If I like either then I’ll order 1.20 in black and orange from Europe and see which I like best before ordering a reel. General rule of thumb is that lighter colored strings are livelier than their darker counterparts.

    Restring Sync Thread

For me, Zero mains with Sync crosses was too lively. Prototype Confidential 3.0 mains with Sync crosses has better feel and control. I might revisit Zero as a cross but in full bed and as a main, Zero is too powerful for my taste. Zero is quite a unique string in my opinion. Considering the...

    Introducing Grapplesnake USA!!!

My guess would be softer feel and possibly livelier. That’s a good generalization for lighter colored strings compared to their darker counterparts.

I tried K Pro and was very underwhelmed. Board like and no feel. I have a few other Toroline strings to try before I make a negative comment about the hype train.

What is your take on gray vs champagne? I will be using the sets I purchased from you in the next week or so.

Head Lynx Tour - Official Thread

My experience with the same string black vs silver is the black does play a bit stiffer, which I preferred. I have not used Lynx Tour yet. ALU Power black seemed a bit stiffer and held tension better than the classic silver which gets spongy in no time.

    Restring Zero. New string release.

Reels of Zero were not sold until late 2023. Prior to that they sold a box of 16 sets since they did not want to use plastic packaging. I guess they caved to the demand of reels.

    Restring Zero. New string release.

ReString has never marketed their strings as recycled material, as far as I know. They do have sustainable initiatives for packaging.
