What's your favorite sub $12 string?

Tour Bite hybrid with Sweet 17. Love this combo and it's so cheap. You get two string jobs for like $15. Was having issues with notching - I dropped cross tension and increased mains. I'm still getting a lot of snapback, and notching has significantly decreased.

Any racket which rivals pure aero in spin production .....

Wilson Steam 105S is pretty ridiculous with its 16x15 string pattern and a poly/smooth synthetic hybrid. When I first switched I actually had issues with balls falling too far short because I was generating topspin so easily.

Anyone else hate playing doubles ?

I prefer singles, definitely, but doubles is way more available where I live. The tennis playing population here tends to be older and they don't like singles. So, if I want to play tennis, I have to suck it up and play doubles. My mind just doesn't put together doubles tactics the way it does...

Anyone hit both 1H and 2H BH?

I started out playing with just a 2H, as this is what my coach taught us (I'm an adult learner). I struggled a lot with the backhand and also felt some back pain, so I started to learn a 1H slice BH and got pretty decent at that, then I eventually started to learn the 1H topspin. Lately, I...

    Suggest an oversize long racquet

The reissued Prince Original Graphite Longbody. 28". Good racquet, I play with one. Unfortunately it was discontinued, but they aren't too hard to find on ****.

Improving weaknesses vs capitalizing on strengths

I am very much a developing player, but I have started to get to the point where I notice I am much better at certain things than others, and I wonder if it is better to accentuate those differences or try and balance my game overall. A classic example of this is the player with a huge...

Anyone else hate their forehand volley?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try and put some of them to use when I next go out. Based on what I'm reading and seeing in the linked video, I think I am swinging too much and not putting my body weight into the shot on the forehand. When I think about what makes my backhand volley...

Can you handle your own serve?

I hate returning serves with a lot of action, which is exactly what I do, so I'd definitely lose to myself if returning. I routinely fail to return serves by my wife who hits a slow loopy serve that never bounces more than (what seems) a foot off the ground...

Deep thoughts on my Serve... or how a big hitter came to love the SLICE

Love slice serves. I learned them because I had a lot of issues with my flat serve, but I have turned them into a good weapon. I don't hit the fastest serve on the courts, but I have good control over my slice. The great thing about a strong slice serve is that it is really hard to return it...

Anyone else hate their forehand volley?

More of a rant than anything, but man, I just can't volley on my forehand for the life of me. It's especially frustrating, because my backhand volley is very solid. I would go so far as to say that my backhand volley is my favorite shot. I score a lot of points on it and feel very...

    Side of heel pain, ideas?

Hey all, trying to figure out what kind of injury I have and what I can do to treat and prevent it. I have pain on the outside of my heel, but not really extending to the bottom of the foot. Check out this image to see what I mean - http://imgur.com/a/8P2LX It doesn't really hurt when no...

    2017 Pure Strike

I'm not doubting you, it is just weird to me that racquets can feel so different when they match specs so closely on paper. Any idea what it is about them that is causing the different feel?

    2017 Pure Strike

Anyone used both the new Pure strike and the old for comparison? I am interested in the Pure Strike because it seems like it fits what I am looking for - I don't like super stiff racquets and prefer head light, but I feel I may be too far in that direction right now (I am using a POG Longbody...

    PLEASE HELP!!! One-Handed Backhand STRUGGLES!

Well, again I feel we disagree. I don't think footwork is a bandaid - footwork to me is the single most important skill in tennis and the biggest difference between the pros and the amateurs. The pros are where they need to be a lot more than the recreational or even college level players...

    PLEASE HELP!!! One-Handed Backhand STRUGGLES!

I don't agree with that, and neither does my coach. Every shot has an ideal zone, and you want to be able to hit in that zone. That is why footwork is so important- if you are having to take shots uncomfortably high or low, it is likely because you got to the ball too soon or late. There are...

    PLEASE HELP!!! One-Handed Backhand STRUGGLES!

I think you are absolutely right about not taking the ball too high and early - you have to let it drop into your hitting zone with the 1HBH. I struggled a lot with that when I was learning it, but have gotten much better. I think with a 1 hander you have to be a lot more selective with your...

The Pro Staff Classic 6.1 mutual appreciation club

My coach just gave me one of these to use as a practice racquet for stringing - but I love the feel of it in my hand, so I am considering playing with it. The only confusion I have is which version I have - mine seems to match the fourth edition, since it says "Midplus" inside the hoop. The...
