    The 40% Roster Level Limit

Unless I've missed something, the new National Rule is below. It's only for leagues with two teams. 1.04D(5) Two Team Leagues: Reduced the required percentage of team members at the designated team NTRP level from 60% to 40%.

    Tennis Channel back on Verizon?

Yes, it's back on. I'm watching a taped delay match right now.

Is There Any Good Reason To Appeal Up?

The first two major National regulation changes this past year limit the number of players who can play up in leagues of two or less and the other limits playing up to only one level: 1. If an Adult or Senior League consists of only two teams in a level of play, each team must maintain its...

    I just got dynamic DQed

Actually, that changed this year. Players can now self-rate before signing up for a team.

True. It hasn't worked for several weeks for me.

    Tennislink Weirdness

Thank-you for posting! I have spent so much time trying to get it to work on two different browsers. I had the same issue earlier this year and emailed the site. Their response was to clear the history and remove all cookies. After that it did work again. So this time, I've kept trying the...

Do tri-level league matches count towards your rating?

That is not correct. Like tournaments, it depends on the section. They DO count in the section I play in. Usually, if it does not count, it will state that someplace on your section website. If it doesn't, check with the league coordinator or the section league coordinator.

    2010 Yr end ratings

I think you are correct but one of the "major changes" for 2011 is that players can only play up one level.

    Self-rate Issues

Two changes for 2011 may help keep players from sitting out then re-rating. They will have to start at their old rating and a committee will have to review any appeals. I'm not sure who granted self-rated appeals previously but I think it was the Section League Coordinator. From the 2011...

    Demographics of the NTRP

Is this what you want? http://www.usta.com/Play-Tennis/USTA-League/Information/Year_End_Ratings/ There's a graph with the exact numbers at each level and how many moved up and down.

How does a win by DQ affect ones rating?

It's up to each section to decide if they will run the dynamic calculations during championships or after. I live in a section that runs them during the tournaments and the results have been reversed. Your section probably just does them afterwards.

Should this guy be dntrp DQ'ed?

Agree with the above. In our league we just had a self-rated 4.0 doubles player with very similar results DQ'd on the fourth match. And usually doubles players are a little bit safer.

    USTA Bumped me...

I think we were told at a captain's meeting in order to be notified you need to enter your email address on Tennis Link when you register for the team.

Do you use Anyvites or Evites to setup USTA practices?

I've used Evite for a doubles group but really didn't care for it. I use Tennis One to help manage the teams I captain and it also has a section to set up practices. The good thing about that part is that it registers the time when players enter their availability. So if you're trying to...

    NTRP Promotion & DQ question

I'm not sure if I'm reading this correctly but if you played in 2009 and remained a 3.5 you are no longer a self-rated player. You should now be a computer rated player and no longer at risk of being DQ'd.

    Accidental Northwest Ringer Squad

The etennis team management part of TennisOne is free. It's not perfect but I use it for the teams I captain.

    No more automatic appeals!!

Probably not. We were told this past year that fewer medical appeals would be granted. This is from our section website; New USTA Medical Appeal Procedures The USTA Sections will not be granting many medical appeals because it is usually better to let the computer determine the...

Wow! Just checked out the NorCal site. In the Mid-Atlantic all we have is Tennis Link. If we had something like you have, I'd probably never get off the computer.

How should I modify my weekly routine to lose my belly?

Yes, I'm in the same general area as you so your store should have it. It's in a blue and white carton with a red banner across that says "lactose free". I thought I was lactose intolerant for a while so bought it regularly. It's much better tasting than Lactaid.

Actually, they do. Organic Valley Lactose Free milk is at Whole Foods.

    Competing at age 19

Check to see if your school is involved in the College on Campus program. Here's a link: http://www.tennisoncampus.com/site3.aspx It's a program for students who are not on the team but it's still very competitive with a chance for a National championship.

I Think I Need To Start Taping Stuff

Another vote for Thorlos. I've played tennis for a long time and have always worn them. I've never had blisters even back when I played mostly singles. I do go up 1/2 size in my shoes (KSwiss with Spenco inserts).

Div. 3 player needs to self-rate

No, she cannot self-rate without registering for a team. But if she needs to appeal it's usually done within a few days. As others have said there are a wide range of players within Div 3. If she wasn't on a highly ranked team and doesn't have a strong junior background she should get a 4.0...

How Far In Advance Do You Set Line-ups?

I try to send out line-ups one week in advance. That seems to be long enough for the players to make any arrangements needed and not so far that I have to make too many substitutions. I know many captains that give much less notice but I don't think it's fair to the players. Plus I would go...

    Why Was My Teammate DQED?

Your teammate received a strike every time he went above level. Both your captain and team mate should be able to find out which matches those were. My guess it was the 3.5 match, maybe even the 3.5 loss if it was close to good opponents and/or the 3.0 wins. I don't think it's possible for a...

One of your players gives away the lineup to the other team....

If a player deliberately told the opposing team the entire line-up, I would definitely not be happy and would have a talk with that player to find out why. But if they simply let slip they were playing it would be no big deal. As for telling what line they're playing, my players don't know...

Somewhat-Less-Than-Excellent Adventures Of Topaz, Cindy & Alice: The 3 Racqueteers!

Hi Cindy! Welcome back! As a long time captain of women's teams, your posts were the reason I started following this forum. Happy to hear you're still very involved in tennis. I don't think your goal to reach 4.0 is unrealistic. I have a friend who started as a 3.0 about 5 years ago...

How do you transfer from one team to another?

Probably. I'm in a different section but that's how it is for us. You'll need to contact your league coordinator who will then probably have to contact the district coordinator. For us, it's best to do it before the season starts. Good luck!
